currently I'm evaluating, how to setup my web development infrastructure using docker.
I would like to use eclipse with nodeclipse, but I don't want to install nodejs locally. Additionally I don't want to use Eclipse Che.
So my question is, if it is possible to configure eclipse that I use a docker-container including nodejs?
The biggest challange currently is, that without nodejs I get error messages in my typescript code, that my imported packages can't be found.

I am trying to deploy a Java project into Google App Engine from Eclipse and am blocked by JSPs.
Everything JSP makes my app not capable of deploying due to "'utf8' codec can't decode byte" error.
Not trying to insert any strange (not UTF-8) character, everything Eclipse is set to UTF-8.
Tried to send archives which were OK with the Google App Engine Tools for Eclipse (soon to be deprecated), won't deploy.
I've seen threads regarding reverting the Google Cloud Tools for Eclipse plugin to previous version (1.58 seemed to avoid a few problems) being a possible solution to these recent errors but I have a problem installing, the batch just tells me "Install will exit" ?!
Tried to uninstall previous (latest) versions before, made sure I was launching the bundled-python batch, still not capable of installing an old version of the Google Cloud SDK shell.
Would be glad if anybody had any suggestion at what makes my install fail.

There are a few ways you can get older version of Google Cloud SDK.
Download versioned archive
(If you are on windows) Grab google-cloud-sdk-XXX.0.0-windows-x86_64-bundled-python.zip file.
Unzip it to some\dir
Add some\dir\google-cloud-sdk\bin directory to your system path
Restart your command prompt (or other apps which depend on gcloud) and run for example gcloud info, it should be fully functional installation, no need to run install.bat.
Alternatively, use existing SDK installation and gcloud component manager to go back to previous versions. For example
gcloud components update --version 158.0.0
target by version number using apt-get :
sudo apt-get install google-cloud-sdk=294.0.0-0
I would like to set up the laptops of our java developers in a more automated way.
I installed eclipse and all necessary plugins and checked out the repository via Puppet+Chocolatey. An IBM Websphere Liberty Profile for testing the application is running in a virtual machine on the laptops as well.
Is there any way to add a new server in Eclipse via the command line? Or connect to an existing one? Using for example eclipsec.exe?

Have anyone of you experience with this kind of problem?

I installed BigBlueButton on ubuntu server 14.04, and it's working.
Now, i want to create a web app, using spring, where I have to integrate BigBlueButton.
Usually, I use eclipse on windows, but, now, i don't have an idea what should I do.
Do I have to use eclipse on ubuntu ?

You need not do your development on the same server as where you host the runtime. If you are comfortable doing development on a Windows machine, do that, and create a .war file to deploy to the Ubuntu server.
You don't have to, but it sounds like you might like to.
sudo apt-get install eclipse
I'm looking for a way to integrate Docker containers with the Eclipse platform.
I would like to run all build/test/debug command inside containers and use same containers in Continuous Integration build and later in production.
The simplest way I looked on, was just to configure custom command but besides permissions problem (docker must run as sudo/root) it doesn't give me all the flexibility of real integration.
Any ideas on the best way to proceed?

What i do for a classic java project :
Build a Docker image that contains a jdk and maven for example
In Eclipse, via "Run Configurations", create a "build in Docker" configuration that launch a command like this :
docker run --rm -v <eclipse_workspace_dir>:/usr/src/myapp -w /usr/src/myapp myrepo/myimage mvn clean install
it should work.
For your continuous integration, you can use Docker Jenkins plugin to do the same or with a sh script.
There is Docker Tooling for Eclipse, available from this update site (you also need to add this update site as for now).

To configure remote debugging in Eclipse, click on Run > Debug Configurations...
Tomcat for instance supports remote debugging the Java Platform Debugger Architecture (JPDA). Make sure that the remote debugging was enabled when the tomcat image (registration-webserver) was built.
I'm using eclipse galileo for developing some web application. But I want to get the eclipse installed on the server(assume some other pc or server machine) and I want to access it as a client and work as I was working before. Please suggest me what type of server I should configure and which Operating System supports it.
A little bit weird to put the IDE on the server but you can use whatever OS you want, put the Eclipse there and connect to it using VNC or Remote Desktop.
