Cannot read property 'length' of undefined visual studio code - visual-studio-code

why i can´t acces to the config using sftp v 1.1.2 on visual studio code v 1.21.0?
I´m using visual studio code with a connection to a virtual machine with ubuntu server. i have downloaded the latest version fo sftp, and when i tried to use the config it shows this message [sftp] Cannot read property 'length' of undefined.

I had this problem as well when I started a new window/project for the sole purpose of an SFTP setup, even though it seemed to work fine on a pre-existing project (which is not where I wanted it). I discovered that if you add a folder to the new project first, it works as expected. I believe this is because the plugin needs a place to store the configuration, and if there is not a folder the plugin doesn't have a place to store it.

Problems setting the ServiceName of a Windows Service

I have created a Windows Service via Visual Studio 2019.
The Visual Studio project's solution is (for the purposes of this question):
ProductSyncService
So it was no surprise to find that the name displayed in Services.msc was this.
I would like to change it to:
Product Sync Service
I first set the Service Name property of serviceInstaller1, but that didn't work:
so I then tried setting it via the code as well (belt & braces), but that is not working either:
Despite doing a 'Clean' and then a rebuild and a re-install, Services.msc still shows it with the concatenated name.
I should add that I'm using Advanced Installer to create the MSI and that it has no references to the concatenated name.
I eventually found that there is indeed ServiceName property within Advanced Installer that was overriding the values in my Visual Studio project.
Easy to change and it's working fine now.

Maui Blazor Hybrid - Cannot double click on the exe in the bin folder

I recently installed the preview version of visual studio and created a new .net maui blazor hybrid app.
When debugging the app, a window shows up and everything works just as expected.
However when i go to the bin folder and run the exe that is located there the window does not come up.
In the windows event logs i can see the following:
Exception Info: System.DllNotFoundException: Unable to load DLL 'Microsoft.ui.xaml.dll' or one of its dependencies
And indeed that dll is missing from the bin folder.
What does visual studio do to make this work? How can i just run the exe?
Right now we only support so-called “packaged” apps. Those you need to publish to an MSIX and install in order to run.
We’re working on adding the unpackaged scenario as well, you can track that here: https://github.com/dotnet/maui/issues/3166
While searching for the above issue I noticed a couple of others ones though. According to this and this it might already be possible right now, you might want to try!

Visual Studio 2022 - Publish database project locally, get message saying the Site.dacpac file is missing, and rebuild always skips

I am at a new role, and am trying to get started with the Visual Studio solution I will be working on - I am having an issue with the sqlproj within the solution - which is required to get my local instance up and running!
The issue is the publish step - I get the error "Could not find the file c:\Repos<whatever>\debug\bin\Site.dacpac.
Several different sources have suggested simply doing a Rebuild of the project, but VS always skips this project - even if I try a Clean first, or Clean the entire solution and Build after.
I have checked that the build is currently set to produce Debug code, and confirmed the project is set to be built in the Debug/All CPUs configuration.
Is there a way to force it to rebuild?
The only thing that I can think of is that the instructions I'm following request the developer to install SQL Server 2017, but I'd already installed SQL Server 2019 - could there be an issue there?
Resolved: for some reason the sql project didn't want to work with SQL 2019,
so I uninstalled that, and replaced with SQL 2017, and it worked.
I had expected '19 to be backwards compatible with '17, but apparently not.

How to resolve Pymongo Runtime Error R6034 in Houdini

I'm working at a visual effects studio in which we use MongoDB/pymongo for our asset management. Our studio is using the SideFX software Houdini.
So far MongoDB has been a pleasure to work with in terms of programming, however whenever we connect to the MongoDB via pymongo from within Houdini, we're getting the following error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error!
Program: C:\houdini\17.5.293\bin\houdini.exe
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
This error occurs everytime when we import pymongo for the very first time, i.e. in a Python shell within Houdini, which is using Python 2.7. Once we click 'OK' on the error popup (it appears twice after clicking OK for the first time), the error disappears and we're able to connect successfully to the database.
The SideFX support team suggested that pymongo wasn't compiled with Visual Studio 2017, which is the compiler SideFX is using for their software.
Now we've been trying to debug this for a while now to no avail. Here's a rundown of what we tried:
update Windows10 to the latest and greatest
updating pymongo from 3.5.1 to 3.9.0
launching Houdini from different builds (16.5, 17.0, 17.5), we get the error in every version.(We're launching a vanilla Houdini session without any 'PYTHONPATH' or 'PATH' environment variables set)
interestingly enough my colleague imported pymongo into Houdini successfully on his private laptop last night without any errors occurring which leads me to believe that the error might be related to our system settings possibly?
I would love to find out how to get rid of this error message because it is really messing with our current pipeline. Any suggestions/help is welcome and much appreciated.
Please let me know if you need any additional information in order to debug this matter.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Manu
This post here helped me to resolve my issue:
Runtime error R6034 in embedded Python application
What happened is that we have a Python 2.7 install located at C:\Python27 which is being added as an environment variable 'path' in Windows.
Using the Process Explorer, I learned that this folder contains the file 'msvcr90.dll' which is conflicting with Houdini, since Houdini comes with its own Python installation that doesn't contain this dll file.
The solution is simple. When launching Houdini in a custom environment, strip the C:\Python27 from the 'path' environment variable so Houdini only fires up its own Python interpreter.
