HAProxy use urls in server config? - haproxy

Right now, my config looks like this:
server node1 10.20.x.y:80 check
server node2 10.20.x.y:80 check
server node3 10.20.x.y:80 check
What would be the best way to use URLS here instead of IPs?
Something like (But this does not seem to work):
server node1 url-1.google.com:80 check
server node2 url-2.google.com:80 check
server node3 url-3.google.com:80 check

I think I may have posted this question on the wrong site.
I have posted this question on Serverfault aswell and received the following answer:
When you want to use DNS resolution you will need to specify a
"resolvers" section where you configure DNS.
Which worked for me.

K3s dial tcp lookup server misbehaving during letsencrypt staging

After succesfully hosting a first service on a single node cluster I am trying to add a second service with both its own dnsName.
The first service uses LetsEncrypt succesfully and now I am trying out the second service with a test-certifcate and the staging endpoint/clusterissuer
The error I am seeing once I describe the Letsencrypt Order is:
Waiting for HTTP-01 challenge propagation: failed to perform self check GET request 'http://example.nl/.well-known/acme-challenge/9kdpAMRFKtp_t8SaCB4fM8itLesLxPkgT58RNeRCwL0': Get "http://example.nl/.well-known/acme-challenge/9kdpAMRFKtp_t8SaCB4fM8itLesLxPkgT58RNeRCwL0": dial tcp: lookup example.nl on 10.43.0.11:53: server misbehaving
The port that is misbehaving is pointing to the internal IP of my service/kube-dns, which means it is past my service/traefik i think.
The cluster is running on a VPS and I have also checked the example.nl domain name is added to /etc/hosts with the VPS's ip like so:
206.190.101.190 example1.nl
206.190.101.190 example.nl
The error is a bit vague to me because I do not know exactly what de kube-dns is doing and why it thinks the server is misbehaving, I think maybe it is because it has now 2 domain names to handle I missed something. Anyone can shed some light on it?
Feel free to ask for more ingress or other server config!
Everything was setup right to be able to work, however this issue had definitely had something to do with DNS resolving. Not internally in the k3s cluster, but externally at the domain registrar.
I found it by using https://unboundtest.com for my domain and saw my old namespaces still being used.
Contacted the registrar and they had to change something for the domain in the DNS of the registry.
Pretty unique situation, but maybe helpful for people who also think the solution has to be found internally (inside k3s).

Locust, How to set source request ip

The virtual machine which run Locust has multiple network cards
Is there any way to set source request IP of Locust?
https://docs.locust.io/en/stable/configuration.html#command-line-options
It should be possible by monkey patching socket.create_connection() using the solution described here, as Locust’s HttpUser uses requests.
Requests, bind to an ip

Port Forwarding for Squid

I'm trying to setup a Squid server on a virtual machine, and there will be another machine which will be connecting to the internet via Squid server. The problem is I couldn't find out how to get traffic with Squid server. I've read that port-forwarding is the way to go, and searched for it. Still, no examples/answers about that matter. I've wrote the rules for Squid, and tested it. It's not catching the traffic, at any level. Anything will help me out of this.
Thanks in advance.
I wrote a post about this a number of years ago to do something very similar - you can read about it here: http://ashleyangell.com/2009/03/configuring-a-basic-reverse-proxy-in-squid-on-windows-website-accelerator/

Setting up Plesk as proxy server for my browser

I have tried to find info on this, but can't seem to find what I am actually looking for.
I have a server running plesk. What I would like to do is set it up so that I can run my browser through that and have a static IP address. Is this possible and if so, any pointers on how to set this up?
I know that this is a few years old, but in case someone stumbles upon it. It's quite easy now with Onyx and Docker.
Create a new Docker instance with robhaswell/squid-authenticated.
Configure as follows:
Yes, you just need to install proxy server like squid or tinyproxy or 3proxy
Also as a more simpler but with more limitations you can create a domain and use one of PHP proxies like this one or this one
Don't forget about authentication.

can the different hosts (not ip) forwarding to the same port externally?

Im just wondering, can 2 or more different external hostname/DNS redirect to multiple local servers but same port?
Let's see, I have 2 DNS internet domain for an example, myserver1.com and myserver2.com, and both I have same A record to my forwarded server IP (e.g: 102.123.123.123). Under my server which only has 102.123.123.123 IP address has 2 application servers but instead of trying to make they work, I use different port for each server applications for an example, serverApp1 listening to 0.0.0.0:2010, serverApp2 listening to 0.0.0.0:2020
My point is, is there any way or how to forward my myserver1.com:2000 to serverApp1 (port 2010), and myserver2.com:2000 to serverApp2 (port 2020) but both myserver1.com and myserver2.com has a same A record?
Im quite sure either it is in iptables or /etc/hosts or BIND issues, but guide me if I missed something. And by the way, the servers and DNS records are accessible from the internet which is the firewalls are configured properly. Thanks.
I don't have much experience in that, but I think you will need a third server/firewall/proxy listening for the incoming host and route it accordingly.
Again, I don't have much experience in that, so I'm not sure if the firewall is able to do that.
I think you can use redirection servers like apache.
In my application we want to access lot of intranet servers from internet. So what we did, we configured a apache with all the mappings in httpd.
So when ever a request to apache comes, it will be redirected appropriately.
For example - I have two servers or hostname in intranet : 1) abc.com:7300/context1
2) xyz.com:8900/context2
We configured a apache with host name abcxyz.com:9000. When a request like
abcxyz.com:9000/context1 comes it will be redirected to abc.com:7300/context1 and when a request like abcxyz.com:9000/context2 comes it will be redirected to xyz.com:8900/context2.
In your case since the requests are going through the single server (102.123.123.123), you can use redirection.
Hope it helps.
