I'm redeveloping a Crystal Reports UI using the Business Intelligence Platform REST API (4.2 SP5), and I'm finding some gaps in the API.
The one I'm stumbling over now is how to add a report to a user's favorites folder. I can find the user's folder by querying with the /v1/cmsquery endpoint, but I can't take that id and use it in the /infostore/###/children endpoint. And I also can't figure out how to take an existing report from that infostore tree and create a shortcut to it in the user's folder. (Which appears to be how the favorites folder works, under the hood.)
Any direction -- particularly to good documentation or examples -- would be helpful. I was already looking at the developer guide, but it's pretty limited.

Do you know any software or tools that can be used to detect when people are stealing content from our website?
Today we are only able the do something about the duplicate content, when we find it manually. There must be some kind of tool or service to use, to detect stolen content?
I'm a part of the project called whocopied.me where you can insert a little javascript snippet and you have a dashboard that helps you with an overview.
We created a little introduction to show it in action
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsS_2oEzPqE&t=2s
If you are using Wordpress, we created a simple plugin for you to install - no requirement of understanding HTML :-)

Hopefully someone can help me, I'm new to EPiServer and have been given a data migration task. We are using the latest version 8.5. I need to migrate content from a clients home grown CMS (that luckily is in a tree like structure) to EPiServer. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of information about this on the web - perhaps I just don't know the right thing to search for.
It looks like using the EPiServer.ServiceApi might be the route to go but again locating useful documentation is proving difficult.
I was thinking of setting up the client CMS in SQL Server and writing a simple console application to call the EPiServer.ServiceApi inserting the content. If anyone has any information on this or better still and example i would be very grateful.
Thanks,
Dan
If you are just importing content from another CMS I would write a scheduled job in EPiServer:
http://world.episerver.com/code/dannymurphy/Stoppable-Scheduled-Job-with-feedback/
That job then uses the standard IContentRepository to create content:
http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/Developers-Guide/EPiServer-CMS/8/Content/Persisting-IContent-instances/
That way you can run it whenever you want and have access to EPiServers complete API. Also you can see progress of the import through the job status.
In the job you can read the content as a file in any format you like or directly from the source CMS database or some xml or RSS feed perhaps.
I have moved content from PHP, Java and .NET CMS this way. In .NET you could even access the source CMS via WCF or SOAP if available.
The ServiceApi is relatively new and more focused on Commerce products and media assets rather than CMS page and block content so I wouldn't use that.
There is complete documentation below for the ServiceApi by the way, did you not find it?
http://world.episerver.com/documentation/Items/EPiServer-Service-API/
Regarding language management you can read more in the below links:
http://cjsharp.com/blog/2013/04/11/working-with-localization-and-language-branches-in-episerver-7-mvc/
http://tedgustaf.com/blog/2010/5/create-a-new-page-language-branch-programmatically-in-episerver/
Basically you have two options for multiple languages. If the content is just straight translations you should create nine different language versions (branches) of the same page. You can also have multiple sites in an EPiServer installation but that requires 9 separate licenses (and the associated costs).
I've done a lot of EpiServer content migration projects. The easiest way if it's possible is to export your current sites tree in Json and then import that into EpiServer. I've had to do it on a recent project and mixed with Json.net it's pretty easy.
If you want to go that route you can find all the code to do it here: EpiServer Content Migration With Json.Net/
I'm trying to make an app that allows the user to put in information and then transfer the information over to Microsoft word to automatically organize it into an invoice. However, I cannot find the information about the Microsoft word app in order to do this. This website http://beta.appinventor.mit.edu/learn/reference/other/activitystarter.html states that you require the package name and class name, or the appropriate intent, in order to work an activity starter.
I'm using MIT App Inventor and I'm kind of new at this. Please help.
If you can't find the package/class name (online) for the application, you can't start an activity. Most likely that it is not open source, so it is not available for the public.
From http://ai2.appinventor.mit.edu/reference/other/activitystarter.html:
These can be App Inventor apps created by you or others. They can
also be apps like Camera and Maps that are pre-installed on the
device. Or they be any app at all as long as you have the
necessary information to provide to the activity starter.
For example:
To start an acitivity for the camera use the package android.hardware.camera2. (https://developer.android.com/reference/android/hardware/camera2/package-summary.html)
I don't know if you want to consider it, but you can also use FusionTables. The information you submit in your app will be inserted into a table in your Google Drive. (http://appinventor.mit.edu/explore/ai2/pizzaparty.html)
I would like to add functionality to the AtTask system by "adding a layer".
What I want to know is whether this can be achieved with a plug-in for Internet Explorer.
To give a concrete example:
This extra layer would allow users to click on "Online Edit" document (which is not available right now). The linked application will open, and when you click save, the file is loaded back to AtTask.
All this happens in the background via the AtTask API, and is transparent to the user.
The question is: is it possible to add functionality to a site by somehow adding layers?
Last comment: this plug-in (or whatever needs to be installed inbto the browser) will only be visible/active when accesing the AtTask website.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Within the confines of AtTask your best bet is to use an "External Page" create a service that handles the data in the manner you need.
The Dashboard that contains your External Page can be added as a tab via Layout Templates.
Most of the heavy lifting would have to be handled by your application. You would have to link the document(s) you wish to edit.
Some sort of referrer would be necessary to place the revised document back into AtTask. The method in which the client can do this would be determined by your preference and requirements. I am sure you can find some sort of Wiz-Bang jQuery uploader.
Depending on the level of control you have with your user base, you could make an Application URL
Windows : Registering an Application to a URI Scheme
OS X : Launching Scripts from Webpage Links
I do not know of any other way to handle this other than what Steve suggested.
Having said that a possible solution to this is to create a new application and iframe in AtTask.
At the top or wherever on the page your application could have a link for "Online Edit". Then you would use javascript to extract the task id, project id or any other needed information you need for the api to get the needed content to edit. Then save using the same api information.
I have not tried this type of method but theoretically it could work.
We are trying to build a media sharing site. I want to use existing commercial or open source frameworks if they are available.
I saw some sites like:
http://www.phpmotion.com/
http://www.jamroom.net
http://www.clip-share.com/
http://www.videoscript.us
http://www.vidiscript.com/
http://www.alstrasoft.com/videoshare.htm
Are there any good open source (or) commercial packages that I am missing out? I want the media site to stream normal as well as HD content and integrate with a payment gateway when the user wants to view HD.
I am the primary developer of Jamroom (http://www.jamroom.net) - while Jamroom is a commercially licensed system, it is "open source" in the fact that we do not encrypt the PHP code in any way, and our license allows for full modifications to suit your needs.
Let me know if you have any questions and I can follow up. Thanks!
Brian
I will research your listed sites. i will come back with good one.
There is available one more [video sharing script: http://www.rayzz.net/index.php][1]
