I´m trying to use Visual Studio Code, so I installed the current version (1.25.0). I open the project folder and VSC starts doing stuff with OmniSharp, producing the following error:
(Sorry, error is in german, saying that the file or assembly could not be found and that it can´t load the project file .csproj)
So, I checked the folder: the file is there and visual studio 2017 loads and builds the project as expected.
I´m new to VSC, so please tell me if I need to provide more information from some VSC logs or something.
I´d like to be able to open the project and work with VSC, so thank you in advance for your help.

I am assuming you have installed this? C # Extenstion for VSCode and you are trying to open a dotnet core application and not a full framework project?
The best way to go about is uninstall C# extension and you will be fine to open the code in vs code again.

I have visual studio code on linux . I want to use it as a code editor .and maybe debug it
(currently debug via gdb)
Downloaded a code of the (big) project from source control and compiled it from command line.
I don`t know how to open a project in visual studio code (it should also be configure to work with source control (git)).... can someone help
The issue is VS code doesn't see UnityEngine.UI library.
I had this issue before and I solved like it this:
I changed the code editor in preferences to Visual Studio, regenerated files and launched c# project. On the start, vs created needed .csproj files and then I closed vs and changed it back to vs code and it workeed.
However, now I am working on another project and I encountered same issue, I tried the method I described above but it didn't work.
Any ideas?
So, after days of tinkering and trying different solutions I found on the internet I finally found out how to solve it (all by myself).
Switch to VS and make sure it detects the UnityEngine.UI library. Then don't close VS, switch to VS Code, don't hit "regenerate files", launch c# project, enjoy!
These steps covered several possible issues:

(just an overview, follow the link for the complete steps)
downgrade VSC package
re-install Unity UI
regenerate files
I have just started with löve because of an internet course I'm on, and I'm using Visual studio code as my editor. The course recommends that I use the "Love2D Support" extension with Visual Studio. It allows me to run the code directly from VS by pressing Command + L.
Although when I do it, VS outputs me this error:
The setting specified in pixelbyte.love2d.path must be an executable file, not a directory. Check your settings.
The path I have input in the settings is /Users/My_Username/Desktop/love.app
I am 100% sure that it is the correct directory. What is the problem?
Thanks for answering!
The actual executable file in Mac is /Applications/love.app/Contents/MacOS/love so put this in your pixelbyte.love2d.path command in vscode and you are good to go.
I have a question. I am using vscode and yesterday VScode is broken and deleted and re-installed But when I debug my project in vscode, there is no response and the computer does not show any error. I couldn't understand where there was an error.I would be very happy if you could help. I cannot progress in the
project, please help.enter image description here
I had the same problem and solved it by doing:
Uninstall VS Code dart and flutter extensions and close VS Code.
After this go to: vscode\extensions and remove all the files.
Run VS Code As Administrator.
Open VS Code and install dart and flutter extensions.
The cause for me might be that when you uninstall an extension files aren't erased.
I hope I helped you
Install 'Recommended' to the current extensions (shown at the bottom right when you launch VS ). This resolved mine.
I have Visual Studio Code installed in Ubuntu 20.04. I love how it works. I installed it from the tar ball. Same with the SDK. I just found that those appear to work better than installing from deb packages.
I created a desktop file so I could add Visual Studio Code to the dock and launch it that way, but what I've noticed is that projects won't compile. I get errors stating it can't find the project even though the errors are listing the folder where the items exist.
The only way I can get it to work is to:
Open a terminal.
Navigate to the folder where the project files reside.
Launch code from the command line.
Then it works. Otherwise, I get a pop-up error that says "The preLaunchTask 'build' terminated with exit code -2" and then the terminal window is filled with errors.
Here's the last of the error messages and then I opened up a terminal and it shows that I'm in the folder for the project and the csproj exists there:
This also happens if I install Visual Studio code from a repository. It seems launching it from the Unity desktop breaks something. But if I launch it from the command line in a terminal session from the folder where the project resides, then the problem goes away.
I can also reproduce this error from the command line if I launch Visual Studio Code from a different folder than the project I'm trying to compile.
Is this common? Just curious. I'm wondering if because when I launch it from the Unity desktop, it's launching under a different
I got it working under 20.04. I must have done something wrong so I did a wipe of the .NET Core install and reinstalled it all using the bash shell script and then was able to install Code via Software Installer tool. Not sure why it didn't work before, but it works now.
