Materialize modals have four callbacks, onOpenStart, onOpenEnd, onCloseStart, onCloseEnd.
I am unable to find a way to assign these, since there does not appear to be any of:
modalinstance.onOpenStart=function;
or
modalinstance.options.onOpenStart=function;
So where can you set these callbacks?
You have to specify the four callbacks in the options parameter of M.Modal.init:

Here the options argument is a object with the callback functions:

I discovered that I was actually using a beta version that did not have this feature, put in by an earlier programmer. Upgraded to version 1 andthere it was. Duh, and apologies.

In the affected application is a responsive table whose ColumnListItems are added via JavaScript code. Now the lines should be highlighted by the highlighting mechanism depending on their state. The first idea was to control the whole thing via a normal controller function. I quickly discarded the idea, since the formatter is intended for such cases. So I created the appropriate Formatter function and referenced it in the JavaScript code. The call seems to work without errors, because the "console.log" is triggered in each case. Also the transfer of fixed values is possible without problems. However, the values I would have to transfer are located within customData of each line...
No matter how I try to form the path I get an "undefined" or "null" output.
I have already tried the following paths:

You cannot bind against the customData. Because the customData is located in the element, it is like a property.
Thats why you defined it here on colListItem: colListItem.data("key", value)
You only can bind against a model.
So I see three solutions
Store the information in a separate local JSON model whereof you can speficy your binding path to supply the values to your formatter
Do not supply the information via a binding path to the formatter, but read a model/object/array from a global variable in the controller holding the information via this (=controller) in formatter function
Store the information in the customData of each element and access the element reference in the formatter function via this(=ColumnListItem).data().
Passing the context to the formatter similar to this formatter: [Formatter.setIndication, colListItem]
Cons of 1. and 2: you need a key for a respective lookup in the other model or object.
From what I understand I would solve it with solution 3.
I would like to retrieve the id of a newly created record using javascript when I click on save button and just before redirecting page.

One way to do this in Sugar 7 would be by overriding the CreateView.
Here an example of a CustomCreateView that outputs the new id in an alert-message after a new Account was successfully created, but before Sugar gets to react to the created record.

I tested this with the Accounts module of Sugar 7.7.2.1, but it should be possible to implement this for all other sidecar modules within Sugar.
However, this will not work for modules in backward-compatibility mode (those with #bwc in their URL).
Note: If the module in question already has its own Base<ModuleName>CreateView, you probably should extend from <ModuleName>CreateView (no Base) instead of from the default CreateView.
Be aware that this code has a small chance of breaking during Sugar upgrades, e.g. if the default CreateView code receives changes in the saveModel function definition.

I resolved this by using logic hook (after save), for your information, I am using Sugar 6.5 no matter the version of suitecrm.

I've been reading up on ReactiveCocoa v3 lately and I'm struggling with just setting up basic stuff. I've already read the changelog, the tests, the few SO questions and the articles by Colin Eberhardt on the subject. However, I'm still missing examples on basic bindings.
Let's say I have an app that presents the menu of the day. The app is using RAC3 and the MVVM pattern.
Model (Menu)
The model has one simple method for fetching todays menu. As for now, this don't do any network requests, it basically just creates a model object. The mainCourse property is a String.

Questions
The method fetchTodaysMenu() returns a SignalProducer<Menu, NoError>, but what if I want this method to return a SignalProducer<Menu, NSError> instead? This would make my binding in my view model fail as the method now may return an error. How do I handle this?
As mentioned, the current binding in my view controller does not work. I've been playing around with creating a MutableProperty that represents the text property of the UILabel, but I never got it right. I also think it feels clumsy or verbose to have to create extra variables for each property I want to bind. This was not needed in RAC2. I intentionally also tried to avoid using DynamicProperty, but maybe I shouldn't? I basically just want to find the right way of doing RAC(self.headline, text) = RACObserve(self.viewModel, mainCourse);.
Any other feedback/guidance on how to make this basic setup is highly appreciated.
So, after writing this question Colin Eberhardt made a part 3 of his RAC3 blog post series which includes a interesting and very relevant example of using MVVM and RAC3. The post can be found here and the source code here.
Based on his work, I've managed to answer my own questions:
By taking a slightly different approach, I'm able to make the fetchTodaysMenu() return a SignalProducer<Menu, NSError> as wanted. Here's how what I then would do in my view model:

It seems like there's no UIKit bindings yet as of RAC3 beta 4. Colin made some UIKit extensions himself to help him make these bindings I was looking for as well. These can be found here. Adding them to my project, made be able to do exactly what I wanted to:

After been working a lot more with ReactiveCocoa 3, I would like to answer 1) once again. By using catch, it's possible to do this in a more declarative manner. I ended up implementing a small helper function for this:

Basically, I want to add a breakpoint every time a given closure variable is changed. Is there any way to do this?
I don't think there's currently a way to directly watch variables, but if you can put the closure variable in an object, then you can use Object.observe() to observe that object for changes. (Object.observe can only observe objects)

Today I was migrating some of my javascript code into coffeescript and got stuck in something really silly but even though I didn't know how to make it work.
I wanted to update the value of a global variable when a click event was triggered, have a look at the code below to see one of my guesses
Here's the code

Unfortunately even though the click event was triggered the variable was not getting updated.
I came up with a work around. I created a function that set the value of the variable and called it instead of the assignment and this time it worked.
I just wanted to know why I wasn't able to do it the other way. For me it was a simple operation and it seemed silly to define a new function just for this.
Your problem is that # (AKA this) inside the click handler isn't the same as it is outside so this:
#activeObject = null
and this:
#activeObject = "#header"
are referring to two different activeObjects. You should be able to bind everything with => to get the right this:

or better (IMHO), just refer to window.activeObject directly in both places so that it is obvious to everyone that you're referring to a global variable:

Alternatively, you could stop using globals altogether in favor of, perhaps, a data attribute:

I think the confusion is about the usage of #, which is basically just a shortcut for this.
If you compile your code and see what CoffeeScript compiler it produces, the confusion becomes clear
