"signtool verify /pa WinUsbCoInstaller2.dll" returns "successfully Verified"
WinUSB loads and there are no errors in Device Manager. But, this is kind of disturbing considering that WinUsbCoInstaller2.dll and WdfCoInstaller01011.dll are part of Windows Driver Kit 10 redistributables.
TIA for your help!

Dears,
Kafka 2.6.0
I've strange problem. Application client cannot check status of transaction because of:
Connection to node -2 (kafka2/A.B.C.D:9093) terminated during authentication.
This may happen due to any of the following reasons:
(1) Authentication failed due to invalid credentials with brokers older than 1.0.0,
(2) Firewall blocking Kafka TLS traffic (eg it may only allow HTTPS traffic),
(3) Transient network issue.
but early the same application client pubslished some event without problems in the same topic:
2021.02.23 09:49:34.742 [kafka-producer-network-thread | producer-1] INFO c.v.w.e.c.KafkaConfiguration$KafkaProducerListener - Event with key: d59ca6ba-111f-42ec-333c-995e3b059593 sent successfully to topic: test.single
Do you have any idea what can be wrong?

There were missing my CA root cert in file /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/java/cacerts
How to solve it:
copy your ca root certificate to /etc/pki/ca-trust/source/anchors/
and run command:
update-ca-trust extract

While performing certificate verification the certutil.exe connects to different external resources.
The util freezes for 5-10 seconds on the step CERT_CHAIN_POLICY_BASE, on endentity and even Root certificates.
How it can be disabled and why does it happen?
I copied certutil.exe from another server where no such issue, compared hashes, launched but the same.

If you disable network communication (so, for example, non-hostfile DNS can't be contacted), is the output different?
copied certutil.exe from another server where no such issue, compared hashes, launched but the same.
Can you clarify? You mean you copied an alternate version of certutil.exe from a different server and did not see the same behavior?
If so, there is a documented issue with certutil.exe in the exact build of Windows Server 2016 you're running, described here:
https://www.pkisolutions.com/certutil-bug-in-windows-server-2016-fails-to-enumerate-issuance-application-policies-and-oids/
In that case, the error was a failure to enumerate or verify certificate policies enforced by the issuing CA, but since the Microsoft recommendation is to:
copy the certutil (and the accompanying certutil.exe.mui) file from the System32 folder on either a Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2019 or Windows 10 machine. Place the files and the certificate file you’re wanting to check in a separate folder and run it from there.
...you might want to validate the behavior on other versions of Windows Server or with other versions of certutil.
I have a server (Centos 7) setup to be used as mail server. Using postfix/dovecot/opendkim/opendmarc..
It works as it should, users are able to connect their emails using gmail for example. Able to send and receive mail.
Also when I use MailKit and test my .NET Core application from my home pc MailKit connects fine and the emails are send.
However, when I deploy the application to my server MailKit fails to connect.
If I look in the logs I see the following
postfix/submission/smtpd[4486]: match_hostname: unknown ~? 127.0.0.1/32
postfix/submission/smtpd[4486]: match_hostaddr: MY_SERVER_IP ~? 127.0.0.1/32
postfix/submission/smtpd[4486]: match_hostname: unknown ~? MY_SERVER_IP/32
postfix/submission/smtpd[4486]: match_hostaddr: MY_SERVER_IP ~? MY_SERVER_IP/32
postfix/submission/smtpd[4486]: lost connection after STARTTLS from unknown[MY_SERVER_IP]
But if I look a bit higher in the logs I see
Anonymous TLS connection established from unknown[MY_SERVER_IP]: TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)
My MailKit (which works fine from outside of the server):
using (SmtpClient emailClient = new SmtpClient())
{
await emailClient.ConnectAsync(emailConfiguration.SmtpServer, emailConfiguration.SmtpPort, SecureSocketOptions.StartTls);
emailClient.AuthenticationMechanisms.Remove("XOAUTH2");
await emailClient.AuthenticateAsync(emailConfiguration.SmtpUsername, emailConfiguration.SmtpPassword);
await emailClient.SendAsync(message);
await emailClient.DisconnectAsync(true);
}
edit:
The exception from MailKit (certificate is proper and not self-signed):
MailKit.Security.SslHandshakeException: An error occurred while attempting to establish an SSL or TLS connection.
May 19 16:07:37 domain.com NETCoreApp[4452]: The server's SSL certificate could not be validated for the following reasons:

May 19 16:07:37 domain.com NETCoreApp[4452]: ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
The unable to get certificate CRL error sounds like SslStream was unable to get the CRL, perhaps because the CRL server is unreachable for some reason.
You could try adding emailClient.CheckCertificateRevocation = false; before the ConnectAsync to check if that's the issue.
The other error, unable to get local issuer certificate, might be because the server that MailKit is running on doesn't have the Root CA certificate in its X509Store but your home PC does.
Update:
The problem is that LetsEncrypt SSL certificates do not include a CRL location which means that certificate revocation checks will fail.
To bypass this, you need to set client.CheckCertificateRevocation = false; before connecting.
I found an answer which works but isn't my preferred method since I wanted to be able to use MailKit for more that just my own server (make it configurable from within the app itself)
I came to the solution because I thought it had to do with some internal traffic going wrong..
By using the old SmtpClient from System.Net.Mail I was able to use the DefaultCredentials.
using (SmtpClient client = new SmtpClient("127.0.0.1"))
{
client.UseDefaultCredentials = true;
MailAddress from = new MailAddress(emailMessage.FromAddress.Address, emailMessage.FromAddress.Name);
foreach (IEmailAddress emailAddress in emailMessage.ToAddresses)
{
MailAddress to = new MailAddress(emailAddress.Address, emailAddress.Name);
MailMessage email = new MailMessage(from, to)
{
Subject = emailMessage.Subject,
Body = emailMessage.Content
};
await client.SendMailAsync(email);
}
}
I have the same problem on ubuntu 20.04 with .NET core 3.1
and after 3 hours of trial and error, I finally found the solution.
I've just ignored the Certificate Validation CallBack.
using var client = new SmtpClient(new ProtocolLogger("smtp.log"));
client.CheckCertificateRevocation = false;
client.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = (sender, certificate, chain, errors) => true;
client.Connect("your.smtp.host", 587, SecureSocketOptions.StartTls);
I hope this would be helpful :)
I'm testing an internal website and on playback I'm seeing this error:
POST /Ex_ACO_EI/Details/2433:
'SSLError(MaxRetryError("HTTPSConnectionPool(host=\'examiner-stage.site.com\',
port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /Ex_ACO_EI/Details/24 33
(Caused by SSLError(SSLCertVerificationError(1, \'[SSL:
CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: unable to get
local issuer certificate (_ssl.c:1056)\')))"))'
I'm using PyCharm for my IDE.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
A quick hack is always disable SSL verification ( on python requests lib if you use the default HTTPLocust).
To fix it properly, you need to validate that server cert again . May be intermediate certificate is missing ? You can try
openssl s_client -connect yoursite:443
And see what wrong with it.
Am following these tutorials to enable Apple Push Notification Server to send Notifications to device.
http://www.raywenderlich.com/3525/apple-push-notification-services-tutorial-part-2
From this tutorial I downloaded MAMP and "created the database to store the users details" and also I have "downloaded the PushChatServer folder from the tutorial". I stored the UDID, Device Token (from APNS), Name, Code in the database. Now I want to send Push Notifications from my localhost.
I am keeping the .pem file, push.php, push-confi.php on my desktop. From the tutorial this part I don't understand:
In the PushChatServer directory there is a push folder that contains the PHP scripts you need to send out push requests. You should put these files in a directory on the server that is not accessible from the web, in other words outside of your DocumentRoot. This is important because you don’t want visitors to your website to download your private key! (In our MAMP setup, this is already taken care of.)
The most important script in the push folder is push.php. This script should be run as a background process on your server. Every few seconds it checks if there are new push notifications to be sent out. If so, it sends them to the Apple Push Notification Service.
First, we need to edit the file push_config.php, which contains the configuration options for push.php. You may need to change the passphrase for the private key and possibly the database password.
As with the server API, the push script can run in either development mode or production mode. In development mode, it talks to the APNS sandbox server and it uses your development SSL certificate. You should use development mode in combination with Debug builds of your app. Production mode should be used for Ad Hoc and App Store builds of your app.
Where I want to keep my Push folder in my Mac. How can I check the APNS connection?
I placed the Push folder(Which is contains the Push.php) in my directory to read from Terminal. And also I pasted the Application folder in my directory.
Tutorial said to use this command in Terminal
$ /Applications/MAMP/bin/php5.2/bin/php push.php development
But, in MAMP I have this path
/Users/creagx/Applications/MAMP/bin/php/php5.5.17/bin/php
Where I need to place the Push folder and MAMP.
I kept my .pem files and push.php files in this path: /Users/gopi/Desktop/APNSsample/push.php
Then I have tried to connect my .pem (SSL) to APNS using Terminal app like this
unknownc42c032e8297:~ name$ cd /Users/creagx/Desktop/APNSsample
unknownc42c032e8297:APNSsample name$ telnet gateway.sandbox.push.apple.com 2195

After you copy both of the .pem files to the same directory(in case desktop).Paste the following codes in terminal:
' cd /Users/gopi/Desktop/APNSSample/ '
Hit enter and you should get no erros,just a new line in Terminal.Now to test the connexion,paste the following code in terminal after you pasted the other one:
' php yourphpfile.php '
Hit enter and you should get three lines of code seying that the php file were able to reach the APNS Server.If it works,you're ok,else tell me!
