Getting image from AVCaptureMovieFileOutput without switching - swift

I would like to prevent lags when the app switches between video-recording and photo-taking: by using only AVCaptureMovieFileOutput and getting a snapshot from it when captured an image.
Just like how SnapChat does.
Is it possible somehow? I haven't found any releated articles about this.
I don't want to switch between outputs, because it lags

I wasn't able to find a way using only AVCaptureMovieFileOutput, however you can add an additional photo output and trigger photos without having to switch between the outputs.
I'm short on time at the moment but this should get you going till I can edit with more info.

First off setup an additional var for a photo output in your view controller

I created a separate class called VideoFeed to manage the video capture session, so this sample is an extension of that class. I'll update with more info on this later.
The loadImage(data: Data) function calls a delegate with the image. You can ignore that call if you put this directly in your view controller, and save or do whatever you like with the generated photo:

First I moved all the AVFoundation specific code into it's own VideoFeed class and created some callbacks to the view controller.
This separates concerns and limits the view controllers responsibilities to:
Adding the preview layer to the view
Triggering and handling the captured image/screenshot
Starting/stopping video file recording.

the preview layer displays black on my iPhone X. However it continues to function on other test devices. Removing:

resolves the issue but this code is necessary to capture photos. Why is this not working?
This is due to camera state bug in iOS from code written prior (and since removed) that incorrectly configured the camera. Restart your device and the camera will resume functioning.

define video url as the uiview in your class

My swift code should be able to take a snapshot of a video and then take that image and display in a uiimageview. MPRemoteCommandCenter doesn't appear on iOS13

I have a video player that show a .m3u8 stream. I've tried to implement the Remote Control but the widget doesn't appear both in lock screen, in the Notification Center and in the Command Center.
I need only to have play-pause, volume controls and some static info as Title, Artist and Artwork.

Remote Control Works fine in iOS 13 , you just didn’t set it up first. Add this code after assigning to your AVPlayer

I am trying to display an image taken from my custom camera (from a snapchat-like menu where you swipe right to open the camera on the left). I updated the code to 3.0 but now it gives me this error:

I noticed that stillImageOutput is deprecated and now AVCapturePhotoOutput is used instead.
What is the proper way to write captureStillImageAsynchronously in 3.0 (with AVCapturePhotoOutput)?
I saw the other answers for this question and none of them works for me.
All I want is to capture a photo on tap(action) which previews the photo (where I can accept it and do other logic once I accept it).

AVCapturePhoto Why is my photo always nil?

I'm trying to implement some custom camera similar to snapchat. I cannot see why my image is always nil during segue. Maybe a fresh pair of eyes may help as I have been working on this for 2 days now...
When I tap the take photo button (to run "livePhotoTapped"), app crashes with error: fatal error: unexpectedly found nil while unwrapping an Optional value, referring to the image being nil
Any help would be nice :)

Have you tried "AVCaptureDeviceDiscoverySession"?
