when I update my Xcode 9 to Xcode 10 and run command:
xcodebuild -dry-run
I got this error:
Build system information
error: -dry-run is not yet supported in the new build system
my environment:
Xcode 10.0
Build version 10A255
MacOS 10.13.6
Here is my question:
Is -dry-run not supported in Xcode 10 and latter?
But I still find "-dry-run" description in "xcodebuild -h" help document, why?
Thanks in advance!

I can debug on MyMac (Mac Catalyst) no problem but not on the simulator, I get the following errors in the Application Output:

I'm using VS17.4 (preview 5 I think, how do I check? It just says 17.4 build 2339) and Xcode 14 for the iOS 16 SDK. I've checked in Preferences > SDK Locations > Apple and everything looks as it should... I'm a Mac noob so is there just a setting I'm missing somewhere?
If I try to build the release for publish like so VisualStudio crashes!
dotnet publish -f:net7.0-ios -c:Release
Update:
I just dropped back to net6.0 and am getting the same error. I didn't have Xamarin.Mac installed but installing it made no difference.
Below are some more component details of VS:
Xamarin.iOS Version: 16.0.0.72 (Visual Studio Community)
Xcode 14.0.1 (21336)
Xamarin.Mac Version: 8.12.0.2 (Visual Studio Community)
I can also see that the directory referenced does exist, or is it not supposed to look like that?
I had two version of Xcode installed which seems to have confused things. Uninstalling both then reinstalling 14 has fixed the issue.
On new Mac with M1 chip get the error after the build of React Native app in XCode 12.4:
unable to load standard library for target 'arm64-apple-ios8.0'
failed to build module 'SciChart' from its module interface; the compiler that produced it, 'Apple Swift version 5.1.3 (swiftlang-1100.0.282.1 clang-1100.0.33.15)', may have used features that aren't supported by this compiler, 'Apple Swift version 5.3.2 (swiftlang-1200.0.45 clang-1200.0.32.28)'
What I already tried:
Reinstall XCode;
Changed Swift Language Version;
Deleted VALID_ARCHS reference according Xcode 12 Beta 2 - unable to load standard library for target 'arm64-apple-ios14.0-simulator'
On Macbook with intel chip there are no errors with the same app. And both of my Macbook have the same swift version:
Apple Swift version 5.3.2 (swiftlang-1200.0.45 clang-1200.0.32.28)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin20.3.0
Can you help me please!
Guys if you have old React Native projects just build it on Xcode with rosetta and you will save your nerves and time. I was looking the decision all week, but in the total it was so easy, just run Xcode with rosetta on M1: please try to open Xcode through Rosetta - Right click on Xcode in applications folder -> Get Info -> set Open with Rosetta to true
I'm trying to build the Swift Foundation workspace in Xcode using the instructions, but the build fails as shown below:
I'm running Xcode 9.0.1, Sierra 10.12.6 and Swift 4. I've also installed the Swift 4.0 toolchain.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I downloaded the swift development toolchain and added it in xcode. I can now successfully build and run tests. Thanks Hamish :)
I was following the instructions here, but was not able to get vapor working on my mac. Here're my xcode and swift versions
Xcode 8.0
Build version 8S174q
Apple Swift version 3.0-dev (LLVM 8fcf602916, Clang cf0a734990, Swift 000d413a62)
Target: x86_64-apple-macosx10.9
When I try to install the toolbox using this command
curl -sL toolbox.qutheory.io | bash
The installation is unsuccessful and yields this message

From this, I can gather that my swift location is wrong (I don't remember changing it) and that my xcode build number is wrong (because xcode beta 2 is no longer available for download, so I got xcode beta 3.)
Can anybody help me to get this working without changing too much, or is this framework still too finicky to work with a slightly different setup?
Unfortunately it's impossible to create packages that work between different Swift 3 development previews because of how much changes in each preview. Things that compiled today might not compile tomorrow and there is no way to selectively target a given preview in code.
Because of this, the Swift version declared in https://github.com/qutheory/vapor#-current-environment for a given Vapor version must be the one used.
Vapor 0.14 relied on the Swift 3.0 preview 2 version that comes with Xcode 8 beta 2. There is currently no way to download Xcode 8 beta 2 now that Apple has stopped hosting it upon the release of Xcode 8 beta 3. That was an oversight.
Vapor 0.15 will not rely on Xcode 8 beta previews and should be released in a few days.
Open Xcode and make sure the correct SDK is selected:
👀 Xcode > Preferences > Locations > Command Line Tools
Select XCode 8
Then continue with the tutorial you are following.
I'm trying to run Kitura project on XCode. I tried to follow instructions on this page ([https://github.com/IBM-Swift/Kitura/wiki/Building-your-Kitura-application-on-XCode]), however I failed with step 3 – run swift build -X. I get this error:
error: unable to invoke subcommand: /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Toolchains/XcodeDefault.xctoolchain/usr/bin/swift-build (No such file or directory)
Looks like I have latest toolchain installed (see the screenshot below).
I also have both XCode 7.3.1 and XCode 8 beta. What would you suggest to solve that problem?
As Daniel mentioned above, Kitura right now requires use of the June 6 drop of the Swift Development toolchain. This toolchain can only be used with Xcode v7.3.1. The toolchain format changed between Xcode 7.x and newer Xcode 8 beta. When using the Xcode 8 beta with the new June 20 toolchain, there's another step that you need to do before you can run swift build from the command line.
From the command line, enter the following command:
$ sudo xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode-beta.app/Contents/Developer/
This command is necessary to inform Xcode where to find the required binaries and frameworks.
To switch it back, just use the same command but point it at non-beta version of Xcode:
$ sudo xcode-select -s /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/
Using these commands will eliminate the error <unknown>:0: error: Swift does not support the SDK 'MacOSX10.11.sdk' error: exit(1): that you ran into.
The Xcode 8 beta will be required to be used for all future Swift.org toolchains unless otherwise specified.
As of this writing, Kitura only compiles with the 06-06 Swift Development toolchain so make sure you have that installed.
In addition the wiki was out of date, the generate Xcode project command got renamed to swift package generate-xcodeproj. I updated the wiki to reflect this change.
Try:
export PATH=/Library/Developer/Toolchains/swift-latest.xctoolchain/usr/bin:"${PATH}"
