I want to check a DB2 configuration to see if SSL is enabled.
I am using OSX and I don't have any DB2 or cli installed locally. The db2 database is on a server which I can access with the username and pw.
I was looking at this article, which lists this command to get the SSL information:
db2 get database manager configuration |grep SSL
How is this being run? I tried downloading the db2cli but I cannot seem to get it to work.
Can anyone provide easy to follow instructions to do this?
You can see the database manager configuration via SQL is you query the view sysibmadm.dbmcfg
SELECT * FROM SYSIBMADM.DBMCFG

You can get database configuration via SQL is you query the view sysibmadm.dbcfg
SELECT * FROM SYSIBMADM.DBCFG

You can get database registy variables via SQL is you query the table function ENV_GET_REG_VARIABLES
SELECT * FROM TABLE(ENV_GET_REG_VARIABLES(-2, 0))

I don't have any machine with SSL at hand to test this, but with openssl s_client -connect 192.168.0.1:port you can see if there's an actual handshake being processed. I don't know which port db2cli utilizes, though.

There is a problem.
I need to access Postgres Database from Postman. Database isn't local, it is on a server, but I have full connection string (host, db_name, user_name/password, scheme).
Any chances to do it?
I tried PostgREST, but I can't install it. I have LIBPQ.dll is not found error. I installed it but it was no help, I still have 0xc00007b error.
So that I can't install PostgREST.
Should I install it on the server where DB is located?
And is there any other way?
update: I managed to overcome all the errors (here is the note how to overcome 0xc00007b error: https://postgrest.org/en/stable/install.html).
Now I can call postgrest from cmd with the flag --help, but it's still not connected to the database.
update2: I managed the connection by putting postgrest.conf filled file in the same directory as postgrest.exe file and running in from cmd.
search for app and browser control in start menu, then select exploitation control :
set randomize image ASLR to off
I'm attempting to connect to a Postgres database that requires the client pass the paths to client and server SSL certificates using the ODBC driver for postgres. I'm using psqlodbc v11 x86 on Windows 10. I need to have three options passed to the ODBC driver sslrootcert, sslcert, and sslkey. I know that the paths are not being passed by the odbc driver since when I connect using the following connection string where I specify the pqopts it is able to connect.
Driver={PostgreSQL UNICODE};Server=XXXX;Port=5432;Database=XXXX;Uid=XXXX;Pwd=XXX;sslmode=verify-ca;pqopt={sslrootcert=C:\\ssl\\pgSQL.ca.cert sslcert=C:\\ssl\\pgSQL.cert sslkey=C:\\ssl\\pgSQL.key}
According to the document section
Advanced Options 3/3 Dialog Box->Libpq parameters, I should be able to pass the parameters by typing the values within the braces directly into the text box. It displays the error message saying that it cannot find the certificate because it is looking in the default location and is not using the value that was provided in the Libpq text box. Am I doing something wrong? Any advise on how to connect passing client certificates would be greatly appreciated.
Answering this in case anyone else finds this useful. The problem seems to be that the Test button on the ODBC Driver doesn't take the options set in the libpq parameters into account and just uses the default settings. When I saved the ODBC connection closed the ODBC Data Source Administrator window and used the connection from a different program it was able to connect successfully.
Hi I am having issues connecting to my postgres database, I am using this connection string on my 64 bit machine. I have downloaded the updated 64 bit postgres driver.
driver used: database=Travel_Information;driver={PostgreSQL Unicode(x64)};port=5432;server=travel-information.chda0n3dhd8k.eu-west-1.rds.amazonaws.com
Issue when selecting tables to import
Any suggestions?
In the DSN select "(None)" instead of "dBASE Files" and your connection string should look like this.
database=dbname;driver={PostgreSQL Unicode(x64)};port=5432;server=server.eu-w1.compute.server.com;sslmode=require;
I had to use sslmode=require because I am connecting to a postgresql server instance on heroku server, and it requires it.
It is an SSL issue
I added sslmode=require at the end of connection string and it succeeded.
I tried before with the original Postgredb connector and various Npgsql versions but it didn't worked.
Although there's still an option to import the certificate from the server to your client To get the SSL cert for the PostgreSQL server you might need to speak to the DBA/sysadmin if you don’t have access. In the configuration folder for the PostgreSQL server there is a postgresql.conf file, search it for ssl settings, there is one with the location of the ssl cert. Note NOT the key file which contains the private key, only the cert file which contains the public key. copy it or its content to the machine running PowerBI and import using that procedure
I have my Oracle server installed in a remote machine and I want a script at my local machine which will check whether Oracle server is up and running or not. I know this can be check by creating a connection through sqlplus or JDBC. But in this case oracle client won't be present and I am saving JDBC approach as my last option. So is there any other simpler way to check this, which can be easily implemented in a shell script???
Thanks
Not really. The only way to be certain that the database is responding to queries is to run a query on it, such as the venerable:
select dummy from dual
We have set up postgres 9.0 on our new debian 6.0 server
We want to remotely connect to this database server.
We followed the steps in the below url
http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-setup-database-server-with-postgresql-and-pgadmin3.html
But when restart our database it thows the foloowing error
authentication option not in name=value format: sameuser
Any advice on how to access database server remotely using pgadmin 3 would be much appreciated
According to this link, there was changed format of configuration file pg_hba.conf. Remove, please, keyword sameuser from it.
