We're interested in getting names and IDs from likes/interactions with business page posts on FB. It seems to me that we're only able to get this data for users who have already granted our app permission both through the feed and item endpoints.
Wondering if anyone can either confirm this is the case or point me in the general direction of the correct approach for this. The post I was testing was indeed public.
In case anyone wanders across this, it appears that my assumptions were correct from what my continued research shows.
The route we ended up taking was to hook into the marketing API and get lead data from CTA forms on ads. Not what we were hoping for.

I need to initiate searches on facebook marketplace from my application on the user's device. This needs to happen on the user's device, and as the facebook user associated with the user using the application, to avoid getting blocked by facebook. As far as I can understand, this cannot be achieved using facebook's OAuth login and accessing the facebook information that is accessible through it.
Another hypothetical way that comes to mind, is to use the token that the user uses to login into facebook itself, though this one sounds frankly illegal.
tl;dr is there a way to run a search and retrieve the results on facebook marketplace as a user on a user's device?
I found your question on SO, and spent a good bit of time researching this, as I wanted to know the answer myself. Unfortunately, as best as I can tell, this is not possible through any official APIs. It seems like they may have once had something like this, as I found several links to FB API documentation that looked promising. But, the links all rerouted back to the Graph API homepage. I found a couple of references to the big data breaches FB has suffered in the last couple of years as possible reasons why their APIs were retooled and locked down.
I found several Facebook developer posts with questions about a Marketplace API where there were either no answers after months or years, or an official Facebook moderator posting a response like "This is a great idea, we always want to improve, use this form to submit your idea" and so on with no follow up.
I also found at least one SO post within the last 18 months where someone in the comments claimed to be able to post products to FB, but I think this was related to the Business Page Product Catalog, and is not what you're looking for. This is more like if a car dealership or something wants to post a new car for sale that's tied to their FB business page.
The Graph API allows for some decent searching and edge traversal but it is all related to posts, pictures, feeds, etc., and nothing related to the marketplace. Facebook pushes their Marketing APIs so heavily that it was tough to filter through that noise. And, of course, all of marketing apis are geared toward creating ads.
I found some Facebook information around API URLs looking like https://graph.facebook.com/search=terms&type=some_type that was very promising. But the type options seem to be limited to adcountry, adeducationschool, adeducationmajor, adlocale, adworkemployer, adkeyword, adzipcode, adgeolocation, and audienceinterest. And, as I dug deeper, it appears this is related to finding targeting groups for creating targeted posts. Nothing for marketplace.
I think that the answer, unfortunately, is that there are no offical FB APIs at this time that will allow querying search results from the Facebook Marketplace, much less provide enough information to reproduce a listing to display on a 3rd party app.
I am building a basic app for a research project. Basically, we want to see if brain surgery alters behavior based on user's facebook posts and interactions. In other words, we are trying to read all wall posts from specific users.
My initial ideas was this: As long as the researcher is friend's with the subject, I can call https://graph.facebook.com/UID/posts and https://graph.facebook.com/UID/feed. A combination of those two should give me all relevant posts.
This works perfectly for some users, but for others, I'm only getting some random posts while missing many others. For some users, I'm not getting anything at all. I cannot find any pattern as to when posts are shown and when not. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be and how to solve it?
I'm using the read_stream permission.
The most likely answer is that the user's friend disabled API platform access in their settings or locked down the privacy in some of their posts.
I am trying to build an algo which is quiet similar to edgerank algo of facebook. I am kind of missing 'edges' part, which is about user view anyone's post and hence creates an edge in this. Is there a way to get the posts user has viewed irrespective of user liked/commented on them. Apparently I believe this is somewhat not feasible after doing some research on graph/fql. But, did anyone of you came across anything like this?
No, there is no way, via an API or any other method open to developers, to see what posts the user has or has not seen. The only thing you could go by is likes, comments, and shares. That's it.
How can i show the wall (feed) of my page to app on facebook? As i see in the page
www.facebook.com/kesha?sk=app_178091127385 and
www.facebook.com/pages/Khanduna-Yengu-Nangsu-Amuktang/187317137978077
I want show the wall(feed) of my page to my app of facebook. Please Help me.
I also try and see graph api as below
graph.facebook.com//feed
But Fail,
Please Help any one.
As I understand your question, you want to take the wall of your page and show the content of that on another page controlled by an app you have made, so that is the question I will answer.
There are a couple of things you need to do.
Facebook now requires you to have an access_token to get that information. You can get this in two different ways. Either you get your users permission to grab an access_token for them, or you create an access_token for one of the admin users with offline_access and manage_pages permissions.
There are problems with both cases:
1: Getting an access_token per user requires people to give permissions to your app which is quite annoying if they just gain access to the contents of the feed.
2: Having one access_token is also a problem seeing as Facebook puts a limit on how many requests you can make per access_token in a given time.
You need to balance these things out if you want the feed to be shown. Which case would you most likely use? If you don't have many users the second case might be the best, but if you go over the request limit no content will be shown and that could confuse your users.
Anyways.. Once you are past the access_token problem, you can access the information by getting the content from the page:
https://graph.facebook.com/YOUR_PAGE_ID/feed?access_token=YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN.
You then get a nice json output you can use. If you are using the Javascript API you can simply use the information here:
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/javascript/FB.api/
If you are ever unsure how to get the information you need there is a nice tool for that developed by Facebook called Graph API Explorer which you can find here:
http://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer/
I am having this problem. When I try to get the links posted by the user or page it works fine for all, except for high traffic users or pages like 'thebeatles' or 'ladygaya' or'machaeljackson' etc.
One thing we found out was that when you fetch links through graph api, it gives all the comments and evrythign back. In case of celebrity pages, there are thousands of comments, whcih are returned back, and cause to throw a curl exception.
So we switched using FQL and its better as it just provides the links, but in this case also FQL does not work for celebrity accounts. We just can't seem to understand why?
Did anyone come across this problem or know of any way to solve this?
Is it possible that you're trying to retrieve so many comments that it's timing out on Facebook's side?
Have you tried asking for a subset of the comments using offsets or timestamps? Check the 'searching' section of https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/api/ for more information
