How can I close a tabItem that in a tabcontrolwrapper? - ui-automation

I am using the uia backend. I am trying to close a tab item in a tab control wrapper.
I have the following elements:
the tab control wrapper a:
<uia_controls.TabControlWrapper - 'Tab', TabControl, 3713040685325610831>
the tab item b:
<uiawrapper.UIAWrapper - 'Tab', TabItem, 13547299422468733>
The tab item b has a visual cross to close it from the UI, but when I call:
b.close()
It does not do the same thing, it basically does not close the tab.
I obviously tried the close() method which did not work as mentioned previously.
I also tried to right click on the tab using click_input() which makes the close tooltip appear but I did not investigate too much because of the limitation of this API.
Finally, when I do:
b.click_input(coords=(86,10))
It works, but it has two drawbacks:
it uses click_input
it uses hardcoded offsets
Has anyone a better solution?

Protractor : How to select an item from list when right-clicked

I am trying to Right click on an element and then select an option "Rename" from the list. I have got "right clicking" working but can't select option from the list. Referred links 1, 2
Note 1:
1: On right click the menu options that are visible are native context menus. So, they don't appear in my DOM that I can see.
2: The App runs only in Chrome browser(not sure if it is a browser issue)
I have tried the following code:
browser.actions().mouseMove(elementVar).perform();
browser.actions().click(protractor.Button.RIGHT).click(protractor.Button.ARROW_DOWN).click(protractor.Button.ARROW_DOWN).click(protractor.Button.ARROW_DOWN).perform();
Consider, "Rename" to be the third option in the list.
Note 2:
If I am just running the app and enter 'R' from my keyboard, it selects the "Rename" option. But when I tried to run it in my test, it doesn't select the "Rename" option. See below code I tried:
browser.actions().mouseMove(elementVar).perform();
browser.actions().click(protractor.Button.ARROW_RIGHT).sendKeys('R',protractor.Key.ENTER).perform();
None of the above code works. Let me know if more information is required.
EDIT:
I am guessing the following to be happening:
once I mouse over, the script "right clicks" and after that the "tooltip" is displayed. Since the "tooltip" is displayed after "right click" I think the menu list goes to the background(the list is still visible along with the tool-tip), which is why the arrow down keys aren't working. Is this possible? If yes, how can I wait for the tooltip to be invisible and then right click?
Input: I tried to wait for tool-tip to be invisible and then right click, but still the "Arrow_down" doesn't work.
Is there a way to bring the menu list in the front once we have right clicked?
IMPORTANT:
I took a screenshot after I right clicked on the element, and the screenshot doesn't show the "menu list". Below is the code for screenshot:
browser.actions().click(protractor.Button.RIGHT).perform()
.then(function() {
browser.takeScreenshot().then(function(screenShot) {
writeScreenShot(screenShot, "image.png");
});
});
//writeScreenShot takes two variables actual screenshot data and the file name. And the screenshot is saved as "image.png"
What needs to be done?
When you send ARROW keys to the browser, you have to send them as keys instead of passing them to click() function and the ARROW_DOWN key is part of Key object and not BUTTON. Here's how -
browser.actions().mouseMove(elementVar).perform();
browser.actions().click(protractor.Button.RIGHT).sendKeys(protractor.Key.ARROW_DOWN).sendKeys(protractor.Key.ARROW_DOWN).sendKeys(protractor.Key.ARROW_DOWN).perform();
For your second try, you should send RIGHT in the place of protractor.Button.ARROW_RIGHT to right click. When you send two actions/keys to sendKeys() function, you have to join them using chord object which combines the action of pressing two keys at a time(ex: CTRL+C for copy). But in your case i don't think its really necessary. Here's how to use it -
browser.actions().mouseMove(elementVar).perform();
browser.actions().click(protractor.Button.RIGHT).sendKeys(protractor.Key.chord("r", protractor.Key.ENTER).perform(); //Not necessary as you wont be pressing R+ENTER in your keyboard
OR
browser.actions().click(protractor.Button.RIGHT).sendKeys('R').sendKeys(protractor.Key.ENTER).perform();
Hope this helps.
use XPath to solve your problem
browser.actions().mouseMove(target).perform();
browser.actions().click(protractor.Button.RIGHT).perform();
element(by.xpath('//*[#id="context-menu"]/ul/li[1]')).click();
In your case it will be "//*[#id="context-menu"]/ul/li[3]" most probably.

Addon SDK way to make a dialog

What is the proper way to use the SDK to make a dialog (which is not anchored to the add-on bar, etc. but shows centered on screen)? It doesn't seem like there is any API for this important capability. I do see windows/utils has open but I have two problems with that:
The dialog opening seems to require "chrome" privs to get it to be centered on the screen (and I'd be expectant of add-on reviewers complaining of chrome privs, and even if not, I'd like to try to stick to the SDK way).
While I can get the DOM window reference of the new window/utils' open() dialog, I'm not sure how to attach a content script so I can respond to user interaction in a way that prompts (and can respond to) privileged behavior ala postMessage or port.emit (without again, directly working with chrome privs).
Ok, this answer should have been pretty obvious for anyone with a little experience with the SDK. I realized I can just use a panel. In my defense, the name "panel" is not as clear as "dialog" in conjuring up this idea, and I am so used to using panels with widgets, that it hadn't occurred to me that I could use it independently!
Edit
Unfortunately, as per Bug 595040, these dialogs are not persistent, meaning if the panel loses focus, the "dialog" is gone... So panel looks like it is not a suitable candidate after all... :(
Edit 2
I've since moved on and have gotten things working mostly to my satisfaction with sdk/window/utils and openDialog on whose returned window I add a load listener and then call tabs.activeTab.on('ready', and then set tabs.activeTab.url to my add-on local HTML file so the ready event will get a tab to which I can attach a worker. There is still the problem with chrome privs I suppose, but at least the main communications are using SDK processes.
Update to Edit 2:
Code sample provided by request:
var data = require('sdk/self').data,
tabs = require('sdk/tabs');
var win = require('sdk/window/utils').openDialog({
// No "url" supplied here in this case as we add it below (in order to have a ready listener in place before load which can give us access to the tab worker)
// For more, see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/window.open#Position_and_size_features
features: Object.keys({
chrome: true, // Needed for centerscreen per docs
centerscreen: true, // Doesn't seem to be working for some reason (even though it does work when calling via XPCOM)
resizable: true,
scrollbars: true
}).join() + ',width=850,height=650',
name: "My window name"
// parent:
// args:
});
win.addEventListener('load', function () {
tabs.activeTab.on('ready', function (tab) {
var worker = tab.attach({
contentScriptFile: ....
// ...
});
// Use worker.port.on, worker.port.emit, etc...
});
tabs.activeTab.url = data.url('myHTMLFile.html');
});
if the panel loses focus, the "dialog" is gone...
It doesn't get destroyed, just hides, right? If so, depending on why it's getting hidden, you can just call show() on it again.
You'd want to make sure it's not being hidden for a good reason before calling show again. If there's a specific situation in which it's losing focus where you don't want it to, create a listener for that situation, then call if (!panel.isShown) panel.show();
For example, if it's losing focus because a user clicks outside the box, then that's probably the expected behaviour and nothing should be done. If it's losing focus when the browser/tab loses focus, just register a tab.on('activate', aboveFunction)
Simply adding ",screenX=0,screenY=0" (or any values, the zeroes seem to be meaningless) to the features screen seems to fix centerscreen.

How to close all open durandaljs modal dialogs

Currently I am working on a project that relies heavily on modal dialogs. I'm using durandal's dialog plugin. The problem I have is that within a modal, a user can click an element which displays its details in another modal.
What I would like to do is to close all open modals before I open a new modal. Can anyone give me a good idea of how I can ensure only a single dialog is open at any given time in durandaljs?
Why not use Durandal's pub/sub, or a client-side message bus such as postal.js (which is what we use)? We close all modals by sending a close message over the channel 'app' and the topic 'app/modals'. Instead of holding a reference to an observable (which could have memory implications), we just hold a reference to the message channel (which is a string). Much cleaner way to go.
Ok so the issue I was facing was that I have various Modals, where one modal could be opened from within another modal. However I wanted the modals to close when another would open. The tricky part was that I am using widgets and click events to open the modals.
Since my project is an SPA it occurred to me to simply create a ko.observable - currentModal - on my global object and each new Modal closes the previous, then replaces the old with the new in currentModal(this);
I went even further and am now using the route objects to fire the Modals open as well. Durandal is fun.

Wicket AjaxLink javascript handler shows strange behaviour

I have a ListView that displays a list of Panels, one below the other. Every panel features a button (implemented via AjaxLink) that closes the panel and removes it from the list.
This is how the ListView is initalized and how the panels are created:
panelsList = new ArrayList<MyPanel>();
pnlContainer = new WebMarkupContainer("pnlContainer");
ListView<MyPanel> pnlItems = new ListView<MyPanel>("pnlItems", panelsList) {
#Override
protected void populateItem(final ListItem<MyPanel> item) {
item.add(item.getModelObject());
item.add(new AjaxLink<Void>("pnlClose") {
#Override
public void onClick(AjaxRequestTarget target) {
panelsList.remove(item.getModelObject());
target.add(pnlContainer); // repaint panel container
}
});
}
};
pnlContainer.setOutputMarkupId(true);
pnlContainer.add(pnlItems);
add(pnlContainer);
This works so far - the actions that trigger adding new panels (usually also AjaxLinks) do what they should and the new panel is added and displayed correctly. But I have problems getting the close button to fully work.
Please see the following steps:
1) I start the server and navigate to the main page. The ListView is initially populated with one panel.
Close-button-code of this panel:
<a wicket:id="pnlClose" id="pnlClose7" href="javascript:;">Close</a>
Searching the page code for pnlClose7 finds the following javascript code that makes the button work as expected:
Wicket.Ajax.ajax({"u":"./?0-1.IBehaviorListener.0-pnlContainer-pnlItems-0-pnlClose","e":"click","c":"pnlClose7"});;
Note: I do not press the button now, if i would, it would work as expected (thoroughly tested).
2) I trigger an action that opens a second panel. The panel is displayed below the first one as expected.
Close-button of the first panel:
<a wicket:id="pnlClose" id="pnlClosef" href="javascript:;">X</i></a>
Close-button of the second panel:
<a wicket:id="pnlClose" id="pnlClose10" href="javascript:;">X</i></a>
But now, neither searching for pnlClosef nor pnlClose10 finds some javascript code. The buttons (both!) do not work. I can still find the javascript code for pnlClose7.
3) I reload the page via pressing F5.
The button IDs change to pnlClose1a and pnlClose1b. Both IDs have javascript counterparts and work.
4) I press the first button (upper panel, ID pnlClose1a). The panel is closed as expected.
The remaining button's ID changes to pnlClose1c, again without a javascript counterpart. Javascript code for pnlClose1a and pnlClose1b is still present.
To make a long story short, the javascript handlers for my AjaxLinks seem to have shyness issues and only appear after I press F5 or reload the whole page in any other manner. I guess thats because repainting the pnlContainer changes the IDs of the current panels - but why is the linked javascript not updated at the same time? Is there anything I can change in my code to update the whole page without completely reloading it?
Wierd thing is that I am pretty sure this worked before... But I checked the whole class history and can't find any major change that would have triggered that. The ListView-code is mainly static since I added it.
I was had similiar problem. if you have any hardcoded javascript code in your page or panels html file (using <script> tag) remove it and set that js code in renderHead of your panel.

Customizing GtkFileChooser

GTK+ noob question here:
Would it be possible to customize the GtkFileChooserButton or GtkFileChooserDialog to remove the 'Places' section (on the left) and the 'Location' entry box on the top?
What I'm essentially trying to do is to allow the user to select files only from a particular folder (which I set using gtk_file_chooser_set_current_folder ) and disable navigating to other locations on the file system.
This is the standard file chooser dialog :
This is what I need:
It doesn't look like that is possible with the standard file chooser dialog. For example, here is a document discussing why such a thing would be useful and how it could be implemented, but the idea never made it to fruition.
What you can do, perhaps, is write your own dialog that implements the GtkFileChooser interface, based on the GtkFileChooserDialog code, but hides the location bar and bookmarks list.
You can get a handle on the individual children by finding out where there are with gtkparasite and then accessing them with get_children.
Make sure to use .show() instead of .run() for inspecting the dialog with gtkparasite. If you use .run() the dialog is shown in modal mode so you can't inspect it.
For example I hide the Path and Places widgets with the statements below:
dialog = gtk.FileChooserDialog("Open***", None, gtk.FILE_CHOOSER_ACTION_OPEN,
(gtk.STOCK_CANCEL, gtk.RESPONSE_CANCEL,gtk.STOCK_OPEN, gtk.RESPONSE_OK))
dialog.set_show_hidden(True)
dialog.set_default_response(gtk.RESPONSE_OK)
vbox = dialog.get_children()[0].get_children()[0].get_children( [0].get_children()[0]
vbox.get_children()[0].hide()
vbox.get_children()[2].get_children()[0].hide()
Of course this is not an exposed API so it can always break from underlying changes.
Hope it makes sense ...
