Can't select first element in a list - flutter

I've used this dep. https://pub.dev/packages/flutter_reorderable_list
to create the reorderable list, I did it and styled it. Instead of a text I used input with a checkbox, I generated 10 lists and 9 of them were clickable but not the first one.
class DragAndDropSubTasks extends StatefulWidget {
DragAndDropSubTasks({Key key, this.title}) : super(key: key);
final String title;
#override
_DragAndDropSubTasksState createState() => _DragAndDropSubTasksState();
}
class ItemData {
ItemData(this.title, this.key);
final String title;
// Each item in reorderable list needs stable and unique key
final Key key;
}

iOS,
Android,
}
class _DragAndDropSubTasksState extends State<DragAndDropSubTasks> {
List<ItemData> _items;
_DragAndDropSubTasksState() {
_items = List();
for (int i = 0; i < 1; i++) {
String label = "List item $i";
_items.add(ItemData(label, ValueKey(i)));
}
}
// Returns index of item with given key
int _indexOfKey(Key key) {
return _items.indexWhere((ItemData d) => d.key == key);
}
bool _reorderCallback(Key item, Key newPosition) {
int draggingIndex = _indexOfKey(item);
int newPositionIndex = _indexOfKey(newPosition);
// Uncomment to allow only even target reorder possition
// if (newPositionIndex % 2 == 1)
// return false;
final draggedItem = _items[draggingIndex];
setState(() {
debugPrint("Reordering $item -> $newPosition");
_items.removeAt(draggingIndex);
_items.insert(newPositionIndex, draggedItem);
});
return true;
}
void _reorderDone(Key item) {
final draggedItem = _items[_indexOfKey(item)];
debugPrint("Reordering finished for ${draggedItem.title}}");

}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {

}
}
The input and checkbox don't work on the first list element but they do work fine on the others

Filter in a listView.builder inside Future Builder flutter

I am trying to implement a simple search bar funcionality inside a FutureBuilder since I am fetching data from an API.
However, I am unable to retrieve data from the search funcionality even though I retrieve data from my future function fetchdata() and the I get all the data that contains a string in glossarListOnSearchwhich is plenty of data. The result of my search is empty. What am I missing?
Here is what I get in glossarListOnSearch List:
enter image description here
I want to filter by "_breed".
Here is the piece of code where I implement the search:
class MainPage extends StatefulWidget {
const MainPage({Key? key}) : super(key: key);
#override
_MainPageState createState() => _MainPageState();
}
class _MainPageState extends State<MainPage> {
TextEditingController textController = TextEditingController();
List<dynamic> glossarListOnSearch = [];
bool _firstSearch = true;
final List<String> _filterList = [];
String _query = '';
#override
void initState() {
super.initState();
fetchData(AppConstants.APIBASE_URL);
}
_MainPageState() {
textController.addListener(() {
if (textController.text.isEmpty) {
setState(() {
_firstSearch = true;
_query = '';
});
} else {
setState(() {
_firstSearch = false;
_query = textController.text;
});
}
});
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
flexibleSpace: Container(
decoration: const BoxDecoration(
gradient: LinearGradient(
colors: [Colors.blueAccent],
//colors: [Colors.blueAccent,Colors.lightBlue, Colors.blueGrey],

end: Alignment.bottomCenter),
)),

),
child: Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.fromLTRB(20, 0, 0, 0),
child: TextField(
textAlign: TextAlign.left,
onChanged: (value) {
setState(() {
_query = value;
});
},
controller: textController,
decoration: const InputDecoration(
border: InputBorder.none,
errorBorder: InputBorder.none,
enabledBorder: InputBorder.none,

),
),
),
),
),
),

(MediaQuery.of(context).size.width / 3.5),

color: Colors.white),
),
)
],
),
),
textController.text.isEmpty && _filterList.isEmpty
? const Expanded(
child: SingleChildScrollView(
child: BookPageBody(),
))
: FutureBuilder(
future: fetchData(AppConstants.APIBASE_URL),
builder: (context, snapshot) {
_filterList.clear();
glossarListOnSearch.clear();
for (int i = 0; i < BreedList.length; i++) {
var item = BreedList[i].breed;
//here I add to _filterList all the results that contains
//that letter
if ((item.toString().toLowerCase())
.contains(_query.toLowerCase())) {
_filterList.add(item.toString());
glossarListOnSearch = _filterList;
}
}
return ListView.builder(
itemCount: glossarListOnSearch.length,
itemBuilder: (BuildContext context, int index) {
if (glossarListOnSearch.isNotEmpty) {
return Column(children: [for ( var dog in glossarListOnSearch) Text(dog.toString())]
);
}
return const Expanded(
child:SingleChildScrollView(
child: BookPageBody()));
});
})
]));
}
How would you filter glossarListOnSearch??
I think your problem is that you set the glossarListOnSearch equal to the result every time in the for loop. So basically all changes until the last one get overwritten. Or am I missing something? It's really hard to tell what's going on here. Also aren't you fetching the data again and again everytime the text controller goes from empty to not empty and back?
Or are you adding the whole list to glossarListOnSearch in every iteration? In this case it would make sense to only do it once at the end. Can you show us the rest of the code? ie. the _filterList?
Maybe it would make sense to load the data beforehand and handle all of this in a Provider.

Why do two UniqueKeys still trigger a "Multiple widgets use the same GlobalKey" assertion?

I'm trying to make a reorderable list of custom widgets, so I use a UniqueKey() in their constructors (seeing as there's not really anything else to differentiate them by). However when I go to create another element, I get the Multiple widgets use the same GlobalKey assertion. I took a look at the Widget Inspector and both of the widgets have the UniqueKey but somehow also a key of null? I suspect this is the origin of the issue but I can't figure out how to solve it.
I have a few other properties in the constructor but all of them are late and can't be used in the constructor of a ValueKey.
My code:
section.dart:
class Section extends StatefulWidget {
final String title;
late int index;
bool selected = false;
Section ({required this.title, required this.index});
Key key = UniqueKey();
#override
SectionState createState() => SectionState();
void deselect() {
this.selected = false;
}
}
main.dart:
class WritingPageState extends State<WritingPage> {
List<Section> sections = [Section(index: 0, title: "First Section")];
ValueNotifier<int> selectedIndex = ValueNotifier(-1);
int newKeyConcatter = 1;
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
Widget addSectionButton = Padding(
key: Key("__ADD_SECTION_BUTTON_KEY__"),
padding: const EdgeInsets.fromLTRB(0, 20, 0, 0),
child: InkWell(
onTap: () => setState(() {
sections.add(Section(index: sections.length, title: "New Section $newKeyConcatter",));
newKeyConcatter++;
}),
child: Container(
height: 90,
decoration: BoxDecoration(
borderRadius: BorderRadius.circular(16),
border: Border.all(color: Theme.of(context).primaryColor, width: 2),
//color: Theme.of(context).primaryColorLight
),
child: Center(
child: Icon(Icons.add, color: Theme.of(context).primaryColor, size: 40,),
),
),
),
);
List<Widget> sectionsToBeDisplayed = [];
for (Widget actualSection in sections) {
sectionsToBeDisplayed.add(actualSection);
sectionsToBeDisplayed.add(addSectionButton);
}
return Scaffold(
body: Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(32.0),
child: Row(
children: [
Flexible(
flex: 1,
child: NotificationListener<SectionSelectedNotification> (
onNotification: (notif) {
setState(() {
for (Section s in sections) {
if (s.index != notif.index) {s.deselect();}

}
final Section item = sections.removeAt(oldIndex);

for (int i = 0; i < sections.length; i++) {
sections[i].index = i;
}
});
},

),
),
),

} else if (newSelected == -1) {

}

);
},

)
)
)
],
)
),
);
}
}
You have several issues with your approach.
First - as I mentioned in my comment - you are not assigning the key properly. Instead of passing the constructor argument 'key', you actually did override the key property with your own.
Additionally, in this code you are adding your addSectionButton multiple times - and each time it has the same Key - which will cause a problem:
List<Widget> sectionsToBeDisplayed = [];
for (Widget actualSection in sections) {
sectionsToBeDisplayed.add(actualSection);
sectionsToBeDisplayed.add(addSectionButton);
}
But the main problem is - your approach is wrong in several ways.
You are trying to maintain list of Widgets to be reordered. You should be reordering the data. Let the widgets rebuild on their own.
Your StatefullWidget is tracking if it is selected or not, and you try to sync all the widgets once the selection changes. Instead, you should - again - be focusing on your data. Let the widgets rebuild on their own.
Here's the solution that works - you can try it in DartPad.
You will see key changes:
-I introduced a List to track your ListTile titles and the text you edit
-New variable to track the selected list item
-onReorder is almost exactly the same as Flutter doc - I only added few lines to track the selected item
-everything is in a single widget. You could still extract your Section widget (and pass a callback function for it to post changes back) - but your Section widget should be stateless.

Empty container consuming space in gridview builder when searching through a list

Code :

// over here i am searching for my required course
},
);
}
else
{
return CircularProgressIndicator();
}
}
),
),
),
],

}
}
Search Bar :-
Widget searchBar() {
return Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.only(left : 15.0,right: 15.0 , top: 10.0 ,bottom: 10.0),
child: Container(
child: TextField(

}
I want to implement search function inside my gridview and i have tried to implement it in the above code and the ui is looking something like this
but when i search "m" it should return me only MBA but it is returning container too i do not want these container(colored in red) i only want MBA .......I have explicity given container red for better understanding
Container without red color
i only want to return MBA but the empty container is consuming space. Please help ! and sorry for these big images i do not know how to decrease their size
Try to below code its working for me for ListView.Builder Please try to change it Gridview hope it helps you:
Create one class with your JSON Data :
class User {
String name;
int id;
int totalLeads;
User({
this.id,
this.name,
this.totalLeads,
});
factory User.fromJson(Map<String, dynamic> json) {
return User(
name: json['name'] as String,
id: int.parse(json['userId']),
totalLeads: int.parse(json['total']),
);
}
}
Create one class that you declare voidCallback function:
class Debouncer {
final int milliseconds;
VoidCallback action;
Timer _timer;
Debouncer({this.milliseconds});
run(VoidCallback action) {
if (null != _timer) {
_timer.cancel();
}
_timer = Timer(Duration(milliseconds: milliseconds), action);
}
}
Create Stateful Widget Class

Not able to change a value in one page with respect to the value from another page in flutter

i want to change the indexvalue (pictogramindex) of one page when we click nextbutton on another screen.I will explain briefly , I have 2 screens in my scenario the first screen contains an image and it's name , a textfield and nextbutton (i have provided a dummy data contains a list of image and it's names) the logic behind this is , when we complete the textfield box and click next button(after validate) the textfield value checks with the correctvalue which i was given in the dummy data and show it's synonym which also provided. when we click the next button we will go to another page which contains the correct answer(passed from first page) and a textfield in this the user can write about the correct answer ( validated) when click next button in this page (till this my applicationworks perfectly) i want to load the first page with it's index updated (+1) which i initialised as 0 (var pictogramindex=0). But in my case when coming back to first page the index is not updating it will automatically stores the initialised value. what i want is i want to update index on the first page when i click next button in the Second page .
my source code of first screen is shown here

If I get it right, you basically want to tell the initial page that it's state is updated(the index) elsewhere. You basically need to make your app "reactive".
As is said in Google Developers Tutorial:
One of the advantages of Flutter is that it uses reactive views, which you can take to the next level by also applying reactive principles to your app’s data model.
Use some sort of state management. You need to choose from and use either Bloc, InheritedWidget and InheritedModel, Provider(ScopedModel), or the like.
Check this article on flutter about state management, or this for a complete list of approaches

How to show all dates in a horizontal scroll view

I want to have all the dates of a month in a horizontal scroll view. The current week 7 days should be displayed first and on scrolling right the previous dates should be shown. later on scrolling left the later weeks dates should be displayed an don tap of a date i should get the date in return. How to do this? I have tried using the below. It displays dates and scrolls horizontally as well but it displays only multiple of 7 and all the exact dates of a month. Also on tapping the date it does not return the position form listview builder as 0 and i returns the index.
Widget displaydates(int week) {
return ListView.builder(
itemCount: 5,
itemBuilder: (BuildContext context, int position) {
return Row(
children: <Widget>[
for (int i = 1; i < 8; i++)
Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(8.0),
child: GestureDetector(
onTap: () {
print(position);
},
child: Text(
((week * 7) + i).toString() + " ",
style: TextStyle(),
),
),
),
],
);
});
}
I am calling this like:
displaydates(0),
displaydates(1),
displaydates(2),
displaydates(3),
displaydates(4),
UPDATE:
You can get last day of month using below code :
DateTime(year,month + 1).subtract(Duration(days: 1)).day;
You should use ModalBottomSheet for the same and then pop that on selection with the Navigator.of(context).pop(result);
showModalBottomSheet(
context: context,
builder: (BuildContext context) {
return ListView.builder(
itemCount: 5,
itemBuilder: (BuildContext context, int position) {
return Row(
children: <Widget>[
for (int i = 1; i < 8; i++)
Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(8.0),
child: GestureDetector(
onTap: () {
Navigator.of(context).pop(position);
},
child: Text(
((week * 7) + i).toString() + " ",
style: TextStyle(),
),
),
),
],
);
}
);
}
);
I have created a widget that let me select date from a list and it is scrollable(along time ago). There lot of code but you can use the selected date under any widget which parent wrapped from InheritedWidget.
Here is the code(Note that I also created a package for this, if you dont like to write this much code for this):
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
import 'package:intl/intl.dart';
class MyInheritedWidget extends InheritedWidget {
final DateTime date;
final int selectedDay;
final int monthDateCount;
final bool isDateHolderActive;
final Map<int, bool> dayAvailabilityMap;
final ValueChanged<bool> toggleDateHolderActive;
final ValueChanged<int> setSelectedDay;
MyInheritedWidget({
Key key,
this.date,
this.selectedDay,
this.monthDateCount,
this.isDateHolderActive,
this.dayAvailabilityMap,
this.toggleDateHolderActive,
this.setSelectedDay,
Widget child,
}) : super(key: key, child: child);
#override
bool updateShouldNotify(MyInheritedWidget oldWidget) {
return oldWidget.selectedDay != selectedDay ||
oldWidget.toggleDateHolderActive != toggleDateHolderActive;
}
}
class DateIndicatorPage extends StatelessWidget {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
body: SafeArea(
child: Column(
children: <Widget>[
DateIndicator(),
Expanded(
child: Container(),
),
],
),
),
);
}
}
class DateIndicator extends StatefulWidget {
static MyInheritedWidget of(BuildContext context) => context.dependOnInheritedWidgetOfExactType();
#override
_DateIndicatorState createState() => _DateIndicatorState();
}
class _DateIndicatorState extends State<DateIndicator> {
DateTime date = DateTime.now();
int selectedDay = 1;
int monthDateCount = 1;
bool isDateHolderActive = false;
Map<int, bool> dayAvailabilityMap = {};
void toggleDateHolderActive(bool flag) {
setState(() {
isDateHolderActive = flag;
});
}
void setSelectedDay(int index) {
setState(() {
selectedDay = index;
});
}
#override
void initState() {
final DateTime dateForValues = new DateTime(date.year, date.month + 1, 0);
monthDateCount = dateForValues.day;
// Just to show how to activate when something exist for this day(from network response or something)
dayAvailabilityMap[1] = true;
dayAvailabilityMap[2] = true;
dayAvailabilityMap[3] = true;
super.initState();
}
