T-SQL: can I script a INSERT from a SELECT? - tsql

I have a set of records on my home computer that can be retrieved with this simple query:
SELECT * from mydb.dbo.topics where name like 'about%'
I would like to convert the result of the query above into a insert script that I can run in my office computer.
How could I do that?

How to write a select statement for a table in postgres that is inside a schema?

I have a postgres DB and inside of it there are many schemas.
Each one of those schemas contains tables. For example:
Schema Name: personal has tables actions_takes, page_views etc
How can i write a SQL query or ActiveRecord query to query the table inside the schema?
Something like:
select * from actions_takes where user_id = 123;
I can create a model for each table and query it that way, but i want to write a script that passed a user goes over all tables and get the data for that user.
in pgAdmin 4 web console should use double quotation marks like following select statement
SELECT "col1", "col2"
FROM "schemaName".profile;
Point to specific table within a given schema using a dot notation schema.table_name. In your case it translates to
select * from personal.actions_takes where user_id = 123;
For me this query worked : select * from schemaName."Table_Name"

SQLite query in Objective C iPhone App

I am building this application which fetches data from SQLite database tables, when a string is being entered in to UISearchBar, all possible entries should be printed. Right now i am able to fetch all the entries from the table but i am not able to perform the specific search, can anyone help me with the query or give some example to refer?

How to Retrieve autoincremnt value after inserting 1 record in single query (sql server)

I am have two fields in my table:
One is Primary key auto increment value and second is text value.
lets say: xyzId & xyz
So I can easily insert like this
insert into abcTable(xyz) Values('34')
After performing above query it must insert these information
xyzId=1 & xyz=34
and for retrieving I can retrieve like this
select xyzId from abcTable
But for this I have to write down two operation. Cant I retrieve in single/sub query ?

If you are on SQL Server 2005 or later you can use the output clause to return the auto created id.
Try this:
insert into abcTable(xyz)
output inserted.xyzId
values('34')
I think you can't do an insert and a select in a single query.
You can use a Store Procedures to execute the two instructions as an atomic operation or you can build a query in code with the 2 instructions using ';' (semicolon) as a separator betwen instructions.
Anyway, for select identity values in SQL Server you must check ##IDENTITY, SCOPE_IDENTITY and IDENT_CURRENT. It's faster and cleaner than a select in the table.

Simple Way to View SQL Query (ies) Generated by SSRS Reports?

Is there a simple way to view the SQL Queries actually generated by SSRS other than running profile traces to capture them?
Is there some way from within the BIDS editor to see this?
You could run something like the below against your SSRS report server. You will be able to see the sql that is being execute by the report datasets.

In short, no. There is no good workaround. However, for development I generally created a test query alongside my work in SSRS. I would edit this inside Management Studio and then just paste the values back into BIDS. Assuming two parameters named "StudentID" and "TeacherID", the query looked like:

SELECT #StudentID = StudentID FROM Students WHERE StudentName LIKE 'John Doe'
SELECT #TeacherID = TeacherID FROM Teachers WHERE TeacherName LIKE 'Mr. Jones'

This allowed me to use real text values from the drop-down parameter lists and simply paste in my query. Then I could optimize the query in Management Studio and then paste it back into BIDS when I was happy with the result.
What I normally do is run SQL Profiler when I run the report and pull the query out of it with the parameters.
Close the file, change the extension from .rdlc to .rdl and reopen it. It should display as HTML. Now do a search for "select" and there you go!

Creating a T-SQL temp table on another server machine

I'm using SQL Query Analyzer to build a report from the database on one machine (A), and I'd like to create a temp table on a database server on another machine(B) and load it with the data from machine A.
To be more specific, I have a report that runs on machine A (machine.a.com), pulling from schema tst. Using SQL Query Analyzer, I log into the server at machine.a.com and then have access to the tst schema:
USE tst;
SELECT *
FROM prospect;
I would like to create a temp table from this query window, only I'd like it built on another machine (call it machine.b.com). What syntax would I use for this? My guess is something like:
CREATE TABLE machine.b.com.#temp_prospect_list(name varchar(45) Not Null, id decimal(10) Not Null);
And then I'd like to load this new table with something like:
INSERT INTO machine.b.com.#temp_prospect_list VALUES (
USE tst;
SELECT *
FROM prospect; );
The syntax to access a remote server in T-SQL is to fully qualify any table name with the following (brackets included when necessary):
[LinkedServer].[RemoteDatabase].[User].[Table]
So, for example, to run a SELECT statement on one server that accesses a table on another server:
