ImportError: cannot import name 'escape' from 'cgi' - import

I'm getting the error message "ImportError: cannot import name 'escape' from 'cgi'" when I try to use following code in pycharm:
import nltk
parser = nltk.ChartParser(grammar, trace=0)
for tree in parser.parse(sent):
print(tree)
tree.pretty_print(unicodelines=True)
What should I do to correct it?

cgi.escape() has been removed in python 3.8. Quoting from here,
parse_qs, parse_qsl, and escape are removed from the cgi module. They
are deprecated in Python 3.2 or older. They should be imported from
the urllib.parse and html modules instead.
Since you are importing a third-party module, try using a lower python version.

I have updated the supervisor package version into:
supervisor==4.1.0
https://pypi.org/project/supervisor/4.1.0/
[Fixed a Python 3.8 compatibility issue caused by the removal of cgi.escape(). Patch by Mattia Procopio.]
problem solved.

You can use html.escape instead of cgi.escape.
It worked for me

Source "#openzeppelin/contracts/token/ERC721/ERC721.sol" not found: File import callback not supported

I've imported the Open Zeppelin ERC721 token standard into my VS Code with the Solidity extension, but see the following warnings on all my OZ import statements:
Screenshot of error
Why is this happening and what is the workaround for this warning?
What I've tried:
change default workspace compiler to localNodeModule (began to throw other warnings like on the pragma solidity line)
Example of solution I've tried
Just install the Solidity+Hardhat Extension ,this will take care of the errror.
run below command
npm install #openzeppelin/contracts
Change the import line like this
import "./node_modules/#openzeppelin/contracts/token/ERC721/ERC721.sol";
You could try this solution here, the only one that helped me.
https://stackoverflow.com/a/72241149/7537543
When you compile programmatically using solc, new syntax was introduced, which you have to include in compile.js.
// New syntax (supported from 0.5.12, mandatory from 0.6.0)
var output = JSON.parse(
solc.compile(JSON.stringify(input), { import: findImports })
);
You should have a helper function for finding imports
function findImports(relativePath) {
//my imported sources are stored under the node_modules folder!
const absolutePath = path.resolve(__dirname, 'node_modules', relativePath);
const source = fs.readFileSync(absolutePath, 'utf8');
return { contents: source };
}
Unfortunately I ran into this error too & just gave the path manually:
import "/home/ev1lclow3n/node_modules/#openzeppelin/contracts/token/ERC721/ERC721.sol";
This solved my error.
(I'm a linux user so path may differ for you)
Thanks ;-)
you have to manually guide the open zepplin import to its source file if you have it downloaded in your node modules then all you have to do is to change its path like this " ../node_modules/" and also make sure to use the latest extension of juan blanco's solidity extension and solidity and hardhat extension and if you are following a tutorial your first lines of codes would probably be import "hardhat/console.sol"; all you have to do here is to manually direct only this file to its designated place and the others would do it by themselves.
What you have to do is:
If you have "Solidity by Juan Blanco" for Truffle and "Solidity by Nomic Foundation" for Hardhdat, and if you are using Hardhat, disable the one by Juan Blanco and just use the one by Nomic Foundation, it just worked for me.
Screenshot
Make sure to create a Hardhat project (npx hardhat) and install:
npm install --save-dev "hardhat#^2.12.7" "#nomicfoundation/hardhat-toolbox#^2.0.0"
npm i #openzeppelin/contracts
Ok. That was a dumb question. Two things you have to do:
(1) Install the OZ library via
npm install #openzeppelin/contracts
(2) If you see Error HH606 (i.e. project can't compile), it's likely because The Solidity version pragma statement in these files doesn't match any of the configured compilers in your config.. Ensure that your pragma version matches the version in your hardhat config.
Hope this helps.

AttributeError: module 'torchtext' has no attribute 'legacy'

I am trying to use torchtext to process test data, however, I get the error: "AttributeError: module 'torchtext' has no attribute 'legacy'", when I run the following code. Can anyone please guide me what the issue here? I am using python 3.10.4. Thanks
import pandas as pd
import torch
import torchtext
import spacy
def prep_data(file_path):
TEXT=torchtext.legacy.data.Field(tokenize='spacy', tokenizer_language='en_core_web_sm')
LABEL=torchtext.legacy.data.LabelField(dtype=torch.long)
fields=[('clean_text', TEXT), ('label',LABEL)]
dataset = torchtext.legacy.data.TabularDataset(
path=file_path, format='csv',
skip_header=True, fields=fields)
print(dataset.examples[0])
if __name__=="__main__":
train_path='./data/train.csv'
test_path='./data/test.csv'
prep_data(train_path)
I addressed the same issue by updating the torchtext.
pip install torchtext==0.9
I also had the same issue. I solved my problem by using a pytorch stable version You are probably using versions 0.10, and 0.11. These were the versions using legacy.
Please update to the latest versions 0.13 and 0.14.
pip install torchtext==<version>

The inability to install the module on Python

I have a problem. When writing the "pip install pyowm" command to the console, the module is installed, but the system doesn't see it. For example, Phyton, when executing the command "impor pyowm", gives an error, and when writing the command "pyowm" to the console, the error "" pyowm " is not an external or internal command".
All of the above apply to other modules as well.
P.S. I use VS Code and Python v.3.8.3
From https://github.com/csparpa/pyowm:
from pyowm import OWM
The package name (pyowm) and the module name (OWM) do not necessarily need to correspond.
You can't just use any tool just by name from the console.
You have to first enter python to the console and then try import pyowm again.
It should import pyowm. But later you may want to actually use pyowm. Then you use this import most of the time:
from pyowm.owm import OWM

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'windows'

I'm working on a project and I need to use the PyMouse module.
pip install pymouse
installed pymouse correctly, so I assumed all was fine.
However, when importing PyMouse:
from pymouse import PyMouse
I got the following error running my program:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "4opeenrij.py", line 1, in <module>
from pymouse import PyMouseEvent
File "C:\Users\lcdew\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python37-32\lib\site-packages\pymouse\__init__.py", line 92, in <module>
from windows import PyMouse, PyMouseEvent
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'windows'
I can't seem to figure out what might cause this error message. Any help would be much appreciated.
Additional info:
I'm using Python 3.7 32 bit
Current pip version: 18.1
I have Windows 10
working on a 64-bit operating system
I had I look into this and became puzzled at first, so looked deeper.
It turns out that pymouse is absolutely full of errors. More that I bothered to find.
The error you got is just one of many errors caused by bad coding.
The code says:
from windows import PyMouse, PyMouseEvent
And it should say:
from .windows import PyMouse, PyMouseEvent
Also, PyUserInput, a sister package that is free from the pymouse errors, requires pyhook, which is unsupported by python 3. After a lot of looking around, the conclusion that there is no way around the problems found, except maybe installing a really early version.
You could also try the keyboard module.
You might want to take a look at pynput module. It works on python 3.8, doesn't have any incompatible dependencies, and doesn't seem to have any errors. Once you have the module installed, this page gives some good examples of various ways to manage the mouse.

"import as" leads to unresolved import error, "from .. import" does not

I'm trying to write some plugins for the irc bot supybot with eclipse/pydev. Pydev gives me errors about unresolved imports on supybot-modules/packages (e. g. import supybot.utils as utils), but works ok on e. g. "from supybot.commands import *". So I guess I set up dydev correctly, as it finds the wanted modules. The problem must be in pydev/eclipse, as the bot works correct and in eric5 I get also no errors about that.
Removing the interpreter and setting it up didn't help. Any other ideas on how to fix this? System: Arch Linux, Eclipse Juno, PyDev 2.7.1, wanted (and set up) python interpreter is 2.7, supybot is installed in site-packages for Python 2.7.
Edit: Just noticed: PyDev doesn't mark the "from ... import *" as error, but if I use functions imported from there I get an error on that function.
Code sample:
[...]
import supybot.utils as utils
from supybot.commands import *
[...]
wunsch = wrap(wunsch, ['text', 'now'])
[...]
Error on the first line: Unresolved import: utils
Second line gets no error nor warning
Error on 3rd line: Undefined variable: wrap
But 'wrap' is a function declared in supybot.commands
Run import supybot; print supybot.__path__ to get the path to the supybot package. PyDev may be importing the wrong one (for example if you use a folder called supybot in your workspace).
