Disable ALL default shortcuts in Visual Studio Code - visual-studio-code

Is there an easy way to disable all default shortcuts in Visual Studio Code?
From the UI, you can delete shortcuts one at a time, but due to the sheer volume of shortcuts, this would take quite some time.

Edit 1 - When you hold delete, it continuously adds the same disable to keybindings.json. I'm guessing the fact that it updates a physical file as you interact with the UI, it requires slower user interactions.

#ArtemBondar unfortunately you can't just hold the Delete button, at least not on the machines I've tested. At most I could delete 1 roughly every second. Any faster and it wouldn't register the delete calls. –
On my Windows 10 machine it's working at about 2-3 deletes/second speed.
Really don't know why you need to disable all shortcuts, just grab this keybindings.json.

Enable focus follows mouse between editor and integrated terminal in VSCode

I am used to the focus follows mouse option for years.
In the VSCode editor I want to switch between the integrated terminal and the code writer by simply focusing the cursor on them.

Does anyone know how to enable focus follows mouse from settings or using any simple hack while trying to move between the code writer and terminal?
The simple answer is it's not possible at the moment. There have been numerous issues raised in the past (#25685, #44214) and they have been closed because "the number of votes ... and duplicate issues" are not high enough. Go out and raise an issue and get others to vote on that issue.
There was a pull request made a couple of years ago that would introduce a focusOnHover setting. This appears to resolve the issue but it has not been accepted and is now a bit stale and needs some work. So you could for VSCode (for yourself), apply the pull request and then build it.
I am keen on this feature as well.

How to immunise my antiprocrastination script against logout and shutdown?

I'm trying to build a script in autohotkey which will make it annoying for myself and fellow users of the flashcard program Anki from quitting midway through a study session.

This script disables alt + f4, kills taskmanager, maximizes the anki window whenver it is minimized and prevents the mouse coming near the red exit button on the outside of the programs window for a user-defined number of minutes. As anki can be navigated without using the mouse, this selectively impedes procrastinating actions without impeding studying.
The script works pretty well, but it can be overcome by restarting the computer or doing a slow logout via control alt delete (win + L doesn't terminate script). Control alt delete is very hard to disable on modern windows builds, likely as a malware prevention safeguard.
My proposed solution is to have the script perform some annoying action (e.g. deleting all desktop shortcuts) when activated, and to undo that same action when the user-defined time period terminates. I believe this would leave the annoying action unfixed if the user logs out/shuts down/restarts/slow log offs.
I've considered using the script to create another annoying script in the startup folder, but this can be circumvented by just logging out rather than restarting/shutting down.
Renaming/deleting keyboard shortcuts is only annoying if the user has a lot of keyboard shortcuts.
Creating a ton of text files on the desktop and other folders is too easy to reverse and can just be ignored by the user until they have finished procreastinating
Disabling the internet would be good, but it would still leave offline distractions (e.g. video games) available.
How best to go about designing such an action that will temporarilly disable a PC that is trivial and reliable, but timeconsuming and boring to undo?
While your AutoHotkey solution is a clever way to dissuade people from exiting out of the program, you will never get a true 100% rock solid solution for the following reason: you are logging in with a user that is allowed to do stuff. If you can do stuff, you and others will figure out a clever way around to do it, and no, as amazing as AutoHotkey is, it can't disable the unplugging of a power cord.
On the other hand, yes, you can make the penalties for circumventing the protections increasingly painful (up to the penultimate format c: nuclear option, which I would garner guarantees 99% compliance), but you will always start to run into issues, and still you won't get compliance.
The better solution is to use features that are baked into Windows via Group/Local Security Policies that will limit things. By using a special user with locked down privileges, they physically won't be able to do things because they can't (for ex. you can disable the start menu, power options, sites, etc.).
You really want to lock things down to a single app? Well Windows has a special Kiosk Mode where you literally can -only- have one app running, and you can't get out of it no matter what. There are dozens of special Kiosk Policies that can be applied from removing sign out options from Ctrl-Alt-Delete to Removing Task Manager.

Checking if control/command key is currently pressed in VS Extensions

In my extension, I would like to check in a certain function, if the control (or command) key is currently pressed. How is that possible? I couldn't find any field that exposes this information.

This means your extension code doesn't run the in editor window context at all. And you can't hack into the webview as the extension api doesn't provide it. So you need to open a Feature request with VScode team and ask them to expose either the last keyboard event or atleast the status of Shift, Ctrl and alt keys. Currently they just discard it and throw it away (if no editor is open) else they send it to the monaco editor before checking for any shortcut combination
This does not directly answer your question but maybe helps solving your problem:
Your extension could contribute two different commands: For example first command myextension.runTarget (noDebug=true) and myextension.debugTarget (noDebug=false). In addition your extension can contribute keybindings that bind those two commands to different hotkeys, for instance CTRL + F5 and only F5.

This question might be of use. With this approach you could track a key down event and then if the key code is equal to command (91 or 93 on Safari/Chrome, 224 on Firefox) or control. From there, you could put in your functionality if this returns as true, or however you want to structure it

vscode: Automatically save all on build

In Visual Studio when I trigger a build it automatically saves all files first. I want the same behavior in vscode, but couldn't find a way to do it short of writing my own extension. Is there any simple method I'm missing?
It's not exactly what you're asking, but will also accomplish what you want: you could enable the auto-save feature:

After using IntelliJ for a while, I managed to get rid of my habit of pressing Ctrl+S after every second typed-out word, for the most part (since it has auto-save by default). I was happy to find out that VSCode support this somewhat less stressful workflow too.
Other than that, there's also a Files: Save All command you've probably already found.
I'm actually not sure you can do this with the extension API right now - you can definitely trigger the "save all" command easily, but you'd need to be notified of when a build occurs, and I couldn't find any events for this. I think it will definitely be possible after #15179 is resolved though, which should allow extensions to participate in builds.

Is it possible to make the auto-complete in netbeans not depend on a key-combination?

Is it possible to make the code-completion on Netbeans automatic, like on Aptana or Visual Studio?
I've noticed that Netbeans can sometimes take a while to populate the list, so this might be asking a bit too much, but if possible, I'd like to somehow enable it.
The onlything I've found in the options is the ability to set a custom key-combo, but not to make this automatic.
I know that if you wait a bit, the auto-completion shows up anyway, but I want it to be without delay.
It appears there is a setting in some NetBeans versions that sets the delay for the popup window.

The problem is that this article is a couple years old, so I opened NetBeans (6.1) on my computer and looked for the property but it didn't exist for the Java Editor (It did for other editors like the XML Editor). This leads me to believe my version is newer than the one in the article and the delay property no longer exists for the Java Editor (checking couldn't hurt though).
So instead, I decided to test the delay. I made a sample project, imported and instantiated a list, and then went to call a method. I stopped at the dot to let NetBeans offer suggestions and it was basically immediate (no noticeable delay). It is at this point, I am wondering if the delay you are experiencing is due purely to performance of the computer, especially since you indicate this occurs "sometimes". It is possible that you are looking at rather large classes, and NetBeans is taking extra time to look up the completions. You could try and test to see if this is true or not by testing code completion on a known large class. The other possibility is your computer is not as fast, or is doing work for another program at the same time. You can try and test this by restarting the computer, opening only NetBeans (to maximize resources to NetBeans), and try some code completions. If either exhibit noticeably faster delays, this is most likely the problem.

I think I found a solution. I set up autocomplete keyboard shortcuts for all letters and #, it seems to work. In some cases there is a small lag, but it doesn't prevent you from typing. It took about 5 minutes to add those shortcuts.
I tried to get the desired feature by adding the alphabet to the completion selectors. It worked somewhat, you can always try it.
