I have the following application.properties in quarkus:
quarkus.vault.url=http://vault.example.com
quarkus.vault.authentication.client-token=s.sOm3T0k3nthAt5act1vE
quarkus.vault.kv-secret-engine-version=2
quarkus.vault.secret-config-kv-path=/secret/app
When I do a local vault kv get /secret/app with the same url and token I get a result:

What should I change to get the secrets from the vault in quarkus?
as discussed in the zulip thread, the mount path should not be included in property quarkus.vault.secret-config-kv-path
so it should be quarkus.vault.secret-config-kv-path=app in your case.
how does your policy look like?
does it specify <mount>/<secret-path> (kv v1) or <mount>/data/<secret-path> (kv v2) as explained in https://quarkus.io/guides/vault (see the note)?
also there is no need for a trailing '/', but I do not think this is the issue.

I have implemented the following test class:
import com.mongodb.BasicDBObjectBuilder;
import com.mongodb.DBObject;
import org.assertj.core.api.Assertions;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.DisplayName;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.Test;
import org.junit.jupiter.api.extension.ExtendWith;

import org.springframework.boot.test.autoconfigure.data.mongo.DataMongoTest;
import org.springframework.data.mongodb.core.MongoTemplate;
import org.springframework.test.context.ContextConfiguration;
import org.springframework.test.context.junit.jupiter.SpringExtension;
#DataMongoTest(properties = {"spring.mongodb.embedded.version=4.0.2"})
#ExtendWith(SpringExtension.class)
public class MyIntegrationTest {

public void test(#Autowired MongoTemplate mongoTemplate) {
// given
DBObject objectToSave = BasicDBObjectBuilder.start()
.add("key", "value")
.get();
// when
mongoTemplate.save(objectToSave, "collection");
// then
Assertions.assertThat(mongoTemplate.findAll(DBObject.class, "collection")).extracting("key")
.containsOnly("value");
}
}
This is exactly the same as in Springs documentation, however when I run the test I keep getting the following errors:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Failed to load ApplicationContext

What am I doing wrong? What I'm trying to do is to test with an embedded, in-memory MongoDB.

I think you have used this tutorial.
The following annotations seem to be correct
#DataMongoTest
#ExtendWith(SpringExtension.class)
However as spring doc for embedded mongo db advices you should define the embedded mongo db version that should be used.
So you should configure those previous annotations as
#DataMongoTest(properties = {"spring.mongodb.embedded.version=4.0.2"})
#ExtendWith(SpringExtension.class)
if for example you need the version 4.0.2
\
Edit:
For #ExtendWith to work you have to also have a spring boot application configured in your main directory. Using only test directory alone is not sufficient.
So make sure that you have in src/main/java/yourpackage something like
#SpringBootApplication
public class ServiceLauncher {
public static void main(String[] args) {
SpringApplication.run(ServiceLauncher.class, args);
}
}
Important! Tests should also be in the same mypackage directory example src/test/java/yourpackage
I am trying to mock the send method for reactiveKafkaConsumerTemplate.
#Mock
private ReactiveKafkaConsumerTemplate<String, String> reactiveKafkaConsumerTemplate;
#Mock
private ReactiveKafkaProducerTemplate<String, List<Object>> reactiveKafkaProducerTemplate;
Mockito.when(reactiveKafkaConsumerTemplate.receiveAutoAck())
.thenReturn(createConsumerRecords(2));
Mockito.when(reactiveKafkaProducerTemplate
.send(Mockito.anyString(),Mockito.anyString(),Mockito.anyList()))
.thenReturn(???);
I am trying to mock the send method of reactiveProducerTemplate to return a SenderResult. Is it possible to do so? If yes, can someone point me to documentation/sample to do this. I have spend a lot time looking for solution but couldn't find any.
Update: I tried the following as per suggestions from Gary
ProducerRecord<String, List<Object>> record
= new ProducerRecord<String, List<Object>>(topic,"key", objectSetup.setup());
RecordMetadata meta
= new RecordMetadata(new TopicPartition("topic",0),0,0,0,(long)1,2,1);
Mockito.when(reactiveKafkaProducerTemplate.send(topic,"key",objectSetup.setup())
.thenReturn(Mono.just(new SendResult<>(record, meta))));
I get the following exception at line .thenReturn(Mono.just(new SendResult<>(record, meta)))). It doesn't mention what is null in the exception and I don't see anything that is null.

Update 2: I am able to create the mock with the code snippet from Gary. Here is the code that I am trying to test
public void sendToKafka(ConsumerRecord<String, String> consumerRecord){
log.info("sending to topic={}, {}={},", destinationTopic, Metric.class.getSimpleName(), consumerRecord);
List<Object> metrics = transformRecord(consumerRecord);
kafkaProducerTemplate.send(destinationTopic, consumerRecord.key(), metrics)
.doOnSuccess(senderResult -> log.info("sent {} offset : {}", metrics, senderResult.recordMetadata().offset()))
.doOnError(throwable -> log.error("Error while sending message to destination topic : {}", throwable.getMessage()))
.subscribe();
}
When I call this method from my test, I can see that the template is the mock template however, I get a java.lang.NullPointerException on the line
.doOnSuccess(senderResult -> log.info("sent {} offset : {}", metrics, senderResult.recordMetadata().offset()))
The exception doesn't give any details on what is null. I confirmed consumerRecord and metrics is not null.
Found the issue was with the setup. The actual code is expecting 3 parameters and in the set up I had mocked only with 2 parameters for send method.
Updated the code to:
when(reactiveKafkaProducerTemplate.send(Mockito.anyString(),Mockito.anyString(), Mockito.anyList())).thenReturn(Mono.just(result));
#Test
void test() {
ReactiveKafkaProducerTemplate<String, String> template = mock(ReactiveKafkaProducerTemplate.class);
RecordMetadata meta = new RecordMetadata(new TopicPartition("foo", 0), 0L, 0L, 0L, 0L, 0, 2);
SenderResult result = mock(SenderResult.class);
when(result.recordMetadata()).thenReturn(meta);
when(template.send("foo", "bar")).thenReturn(Mono.just(result));
template.send("foo", "bar")
.doOnNext(sr -> {
assertThat(sr.recordMetadata().toString()).isEqualTo("foo-0#0");
})
.subscribe();
}
I have an init script to be executed on testcontainers (postgres) startup.
My setup is:
spring boot
spring data jdbc
testcontainers on docker
postgresql
All framworks are up to date as of today.
This is an excerpt of the script:
create or replace function check_registration_limits() returns trigger
language plpgsql
as $$
BEGIN
IF(SELECT count(*) FROM applicationusersubjectregistration ausr WHERE NEW.campus = ausr.campus and NEW.subject = ausr.subject)
>= (SELECT s.maxparticipants FROM subject s WHERE s.subjectid = NEW.subject) THEN
RAISE EXCEPTION 'Registration limits reached! No more voting allowed!';
END IF;
RETURN NEW;
END

May it be that this is some script-building-voodoo-escaping error?
Or do i have to escape some parts of the script?
Thank you in advance
EDIT
I try to initialize the docker/testcontainers/postgres db with a Spring Boot Test Resources schema.sql and DataSourceInitializer:
#Bean
#Primary
public DataSourceInitializer testDataSourceInitializer() {
ResourceDatabasePopulator resourceDatabasePopulator = new ResourceDatabasePopulator();
resourceDatabasePopulator.addScript(new ClassPathResource("/schema.sql"));
DataSourceInitializer dataSourceInitializer = new DataSourceInitializer();
dataSourceInitializer.setDataSource(testDataSource());
dataSourceInitializer.setDatabasePopulator(resourceDatabasePopulator);
return dataSourceInitializer;
}
As you are using postgresql, you could try to put the initialization script under /docker-entrypoint-initdb.d as explained here
I´ve left out the above DataSourceInitializer bean since testcontainers provide an init script as well.
So my solution is configuring this init script properly with the testcontainer`s postgres container:
#Bean
#Primary
DataSource testDataSource() {
if (POSTGRESQL_CONTAINER == null) {
PostgreSQLContainer<?> container = new PostgreSQLContainer<>();
container.withInitScript("schema.sql");
container.start();
POSTGRESQL_CONTAINER = container;
}
PGSimpleDataSource dataSource = new PGSimpleDataSource();
dataSource.setUrl(POSTGRESQL_CONTAINER.getJdbcUrl());
dataSource.setUser(POSTGRESQL_CONTAINER.getUsername());
dataSource.setPassword(POSTGRESQL_CONTAINER.getPassword());
return dataSource;
}
container.withInitScript("schema.sql"); does the job. Please mind that schema.sql has to be placed in .\src\test\resources
Things went very strange when adding a second trigger:
create or replace function check_registration_limits() returns trigger
language plpgsql
as $$
BEGIN
IF(SELECT count(*) FROM applicationusersubjectregistration ausr WHERE NEW.campus = ausr.campus and NEW.subject = ausr.subject)
>= (SELECT s.maxparticipants FROM subject s WHERE s.subjectid = NEW.subject) THEN
RAISE EXCEPTION 'Registration limits reached! No more voting allowed!';
END IF;
RETURN NEW;
END
$$;
This leads to another Unterminated dollar quote even if i use the same notation with the first trigger where everything works fine.
So found this answer here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/55596701/7320372
My problem is solved after using ' as $$ replacement like so:
create or replace function check_registration_limits() returns trigger
as
'
BEGIN
IF (SELECT count(*)
FROM applicationusersubjectregistration ausr
WHERE NEW.campus = ausr.campus
and NEW.subject = ausr.subject)
>= (SELECT s.maxparticipants FROM subject s WHERE s.subjectid = NEW.subject) THEN
RAISE EXCEPTION ''Registration limits reached! No more voting allowed!'';
END IF;
RETURN NEW;
END
' language plpgsql;
Consider the two classes below:
class TerminalMaintenance{
#Id
#Column(name="id")
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "SEQ_MAINTENANCE")
#SequenceGenerator(name ="SEQ_MAINTENANCE", sequenceName = "SEQ_MAINTENANCE", allocationSize = 1)
private long id;
#Column(name="code", unique = true)
private String code;
#ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
private Terminal terminal;
public TerminalMaintenance() {
}
public TerminalMaintenance(long id) {
this.id = id;
}
public TerminalMaintenance(String code) {
this.code = code;
}
...
}
class Terminal{
#Id
#Column(name="id")
#GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.SEQUENCE, generator = "SEQ_TERMINAL")
#SequenceGenerator(name ="SEQ_TERMINAL", sequenceName = "SEQ_TERMINAL", allocationSize = 1)
private long id;
#Column(name="code", unique = true)
private String code;
#OneToMany(
fetch = FetchType.LAZY,
cascade = CascadeType.ALL,
orphanRemoval = true,
mappedBy = "terminal")
private List<TerminalMaintenance> maintenances;
...
}
interface TerminalRepo extends JpaRepository<Terminal, Long>{
}
interface TerminalMaintenanceRepo extends JpaRepository<TerminalMaintenance, Long>{
}
When I want to save the TerminalMaintenance entity, I already know id of its Terminal entity and I do not load its entire terminal object in order to persist object TerminalMaintenance like:
TerminalMaintenance terminalMaintenance = new TerminalMaintenance();
Terminal terminal = new Terminal(1); \\ using id constructor
terminalMaintenance.setTerminal(terminal);
terminalMaintenanceRepo.save(terminalMaintenance);
And it works fine. But when I want to instantiate the object Terminal using its code field - which is unique - like :
TerminalMaintenance terminalMaintenance = new TerminalMaintenance();
Terminal terminal = new Terminal("core123"); \\ using code constructor
terminalMaintenance.setTerminal(terminal);
terminalMaintenanceRepo.save(terminalMaintenance);
it thorws :
org.springframework.dao.InvalidDataAccessApiUsageException: org.hibernate.TransientPropertyValueException: object references an unsaved transient instance - save the transient instance before flushing : ir.noorbank.entity.tms.TerminalMaintenance.terminal -> ir.noorbank.entity.tms.Terminal; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalStateException: org.hibernate.TransientPropertyValueException: object references an unsaved transient instance - save the transient instance before flushing : ir.noorbank.entity.tms.TerminalMaintenance.terminal -> ir.noorbank.entity.tms.Terminal

I also tried #NaturalId above code property of Terminal but there is no change.
So, Is there a way to persist an entity by initializing its sub-entity using one of its unique properties instead of initializing it by id property?
p.s: Terminal with id == 1 and code == code123 is already persisted in the database.
This code:
TerminalMaintenance terminalMaintenance = new TerminalMaintenance();
Terminal terminal = new Terminal(1); \\ using id constructor
terminalMaintenance.setTerminal(terminal);
terminalMaintenanceRepo.save(terminalMaintenance);
works in Hibernate because the Terminal object contains the identifier and, unlike JPA, Hibernate can work just fine if the parent entity is represented by a POJO that has the id set.
On the other hand, this code:
TerminalMaintenance terminalMaintenance = new TerminalMaintenance();
Terminal terminal = new Terminal("core123"); \\ using code constructor
terminalMaintenance.setTerminal(terminal);
terminalMaintenanceRepo.save(terminalMaintenance);
doesn't work because the Terminal object reference doesn't have the id set, so there's no way for Hibernate to know what value to set for the associated FK column.
It won't work. TBH I'm genuinely surprised that the attempt with new Terminal(1) works.
You need to fetch the existing entity (terminalRepository.findByCode("123")) and use the result. Otherwise, as far as JPA is concerned, new Terminal("core123") is a brand new entity.
Would like to setup Derby database table authentication in Glassfish and Netbeans. For a start I try to use plain text passwords that are not hashed.
Struggling with this for 3 days now.
Guesses:
1. Glassfish does not see the database.
2. A problem with the realm in Glassfish.

Please let me know if you need anything else.
The problem was mostly that one needs to use UPPERCASE for table and column names when creating the tables in Derby (in Netbeans).
Wow, it is amazing that nobody else on the World Wide Web knows this.
This is the example that I followed. And I couldn't find anything wrong with it: https://sites.google.com/site/saultcollegeit/courses/csd322-java-III/authentication-and-authorization--jsf-jdbcrealms-mysql
Except that it is for a MySQL DB, so here is the code for creating the tables:
CREATE TABLE "HENNIE"."USERS" (
"USERID" int NOT NULL,
"USERNAME" varchar(128) NOT NULL,
"FIRSTNAME" varchar(128) DEFAULT NULL,
"LASTNAME" varchar(128) DEFAULT NULL,
"PASSWORD" char(64) DEFAULT NULL,
PRIMARY KEY ("USERID")
);
CREATE TABLE "HENNIE"."GROUPS" (
"USERNAME" varchar(128) NOT NULL,
"GROUPNAME" varchar(128) NOT NULL,
PRIMARY KEY ("USERNAME","GROUPNAME")
);
INSERT INTO "HENNIE"."GROUPS"("USERNAME", "GROUPNAME") VALUES
('admin', 'admin'),
('jannie', 'standard');
INSERT INTO "HENNIE"."USERS"("USERID", "USERNAME", "FIRSTNAME", "LASTNAME", "PASSWORD") VALUES
(1, 'admin', 'hennie', 'r', '8c6976e5b5410415bde908bd4dee15dfb167a9c873fc4bb8a81f6f2ab448a918'), /*admin = 8c6976e5b5410415bde908bd4dee15dfb167a9c873fc4bb8a81f6f2ab448a918*/
(2, 'jannie', 'jan', 'j', 'e3b0c44298fc1c149afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855'); /*<empty string> = e3b0c44298fc1c149afbf4c8996fb92427ae41e4649b934ca495991b7852b855*/
Notes:
'hennie' was the username I used when creating the DB. The DB name is not in the code above.
When creating the pool and realm, the names can be quite confusing, so be careful. After creating the realm, refresh the Glassfish browser tab to see the new realm name on the left as well.
