How to create flutter application with the name, for example, My App (with space inside and with each word uppercased)?
If I create it this way
flutter create my app
then the output is
Multiple output directories specified.
On the other side if create it like
flutter create my_app
then my_app will be the name of this app in the list of installed applications (at least on Android).
But how to name it My App?
A command line tool outputs this info:
Package names should be all lowercase, with underscores to separate
words, just_like_this. Use only basic Latin letters and Arabic
digits: [a-z0-9_]. Also, make sure the name is a valid Dart identifier
-- that it doesn't start with digits and isn't a reserved word.
So the lowercase is also required...
Flutter documentation describe in detail how to configure your application for deployment which also includes setting the name of the app. You can find detailed configuration here -
Build and release an Android App
Build and release an iOS App
For changing the name of the Android app, it says -
Review the default App Manifest file, AndroidManifest.xml, located in
/android/app/src/main and verify that the values are correct,
especially the following:
application Edit the android:label in the application tag to reflect
the final name of the app.
For changing the name of the iOS app, it says -
Navigate to your target’s settings in Xcode:
In Xcode, open Runner.xcworkspace in your app’s ios folder. To view
your app’s settings, select the Runner project in the Xcode project
navigator. Then, in the main view sidebar, select the Runner target.
Select the General tab. Next, you’ll verify the most important
settings.
In the Identity section:
Display Name The name of the app to be displayed on the home screen
and elsewhere. Bundle Identifier

I have developed an iOS app, and it was already put into Apple Store. Now I want to change the name of my application.
What are the things I need to consider & update in my xcode project if I want to replace the current app in Apple Store with the new named app?
Update:
I'd like to not only change name in Apple store but also change the name in project level
Why are you trying to replace your App ? For just changing the Name ? You don't need to do any thing in your Xcode Project or replace your app. Simply follow these Steps and your App Name will be changed.
Take a look at : change app name in App Store.
Update : If you simply want to change the name of your Xcode Project then it's a simple 3 Step Process :
Go to Targets in Xcode
Go to Build Setting on your project's Target.
Search for Product Name under Packaging. Change the value of that what you want the new program name is going to be.
you can change "bundle display name" in info.plist to change the app icon name.
To change the name on Appstore there's already a post on stackoverflow: change app name in App Store
Before submitting the app that I'm working on, I want application to include a link to the app in the App Store (it will be within an email, generated by the app).
I've read a bunch of posts, including this one:
How to link to apps on the app store
So I know the format of the link that I'm going to use. It will be:
itms-apps://itunes.com/apps/appname
What I want to double check - is the appname itself.
Specifically, the difference between the bundle name and the bundle display name.
For example, if I have set the bundle display name to be:
awesome'app
But the bundle name is simply:
awesomeapp
In Xcode, Targets -> Build Settings -> Packaging, Product Name = awesomeapp
This is what gets used for the Bundle name, as it is set to be: ${PRODUCT_NAME}
I'm making an assumption that it's better to not have an apostrophe in the product name, so I'm manually setting the Bundle display name to be: awesome'app
Question 1: as I have it now, will the 'appname' in the itms-apps link be "awesomeapp"?
Question 2: if it's actually just fine to use awesome'app throughout the Xcode project (therefore not having to manually set the Bundle display name), what would the itms-apps link be? Would it still be:
itms-apps://itunes.com/apps/awesomeapp
Thanks,
Gavin
As soon as you create your app in iTunes Connect, you will get a link that will point to your app once it's live on the AppStore. Use that link.
We have an updated version of our app icon to replace the existing one, we tried to simply overwrite the old one (image file) with the new version (image file), build and then deploy, what we found on the device is still the old icon being used for our app. Is this a normal behavior, what's the "official" steps for such needs? Note that we are still in development stage, which is why we need to update our app icons based on the new art work done by our designers.
Even i faced the same issue ,& its just because the app still has the reference to the old icon file or may be it has not been deleted from the resources, you may have opted for reference only while deleting the app icon.
It's simple ,
For easy followup I have attached the Screenshots too : ;)
1) Delete your application icon.png from the app, selecting an option "Also Move to Trash" .
2) Now Clean build & all the targets.
3) Reveal in finder the resource folder in your app & first copy your New App icon over there.
4) Now, drag & drop the new application icon from application finder to your Resource folder, make sure to check the option to copy items.
5) Also, prior to submitting the application to AppStore, make sure to do changes in your .plist file.Add value icon.png value to Icon file key.
Once, you are done with all the steps, just reset your Simulator & Run the app. I am sure that would solve your problem.
First of all delete the icon.png then select the image you want to create the icon select and drag it and put the following place and clean up your project(Cmd + shift + k).
Now the run the project and it change the icon of the application.
i think it's helpful for you
do cmd+k (to clean) then cmd+r (to run)
Clean build folder first before you redeploy, Xcode cache some of the data. To clean build folder, Go to Products, and hold option, there will be an option to.
Reference Apple Technical docs, about Troubleshooting section. That technical document gives details about this icon issue.
The following is what I encounter.
Error: Invalid Image Path
Your application's information property list references one or more icon images that were not included in the compiled bundle.
If your application is using asset catalogs to manage its icons then the information property list should not include any icon related keys; they will be added at build time by the asset catalog compiler.
Open the information property list for your app's target. It can be found under the Info tab in the project editor or in the File Navigator where it will be named either -Info.plist or Info.plist, where is the name of your app.
Remove the following keys, including device specific variations.
“Icon file” (CFBundleIconFile)
“Icon files” (CFBundleIconFiles)
CFBundleIcons
My project use App Icons Source to manage app icons, but the Info.plist also contains Icon files, and images in the resources.
If you encounter following case, reference that apple docs, it will help you.
The wrong icon appears in the App Store
Your application bundle includes additional images which are being detected as valid icon images.
I have an ios application that runs on xcode 3.2.6. I want to change application name and application icon. I also want to use another developer identity. In xcode 3 I did not find how to change this and now I am moving to xcode 4.
To change the application icon go to Application Targets -> info - > and in the Icon file column write the name of the image with its extension example: abc.png and put the image in the project.
And for the development identity select project and select Build Setting and choose Code Signing column and set the appropriate profile.
the name of my application is a bit large due to which all of it is not visible when i install it on my iPhone so i was thinking of changing the bundle name to a smaller text...but i want the original app name to appear in on Apple Store as it is...can i use a different name for apple store then bundle name on Xcode file while uploading my application on iTunes Connect??
You can change the name of the application on the AppStore in the "Manage Your Applications" section of iTunes Connect, clicking on "Manage Localizations". This way you can translate the name of the app in different languages.
If you need to change the name of the Application as it appears on the iPhone's home screen, you need to do it in the Target configuration, not the project configuration. Expand the Targets group in Xcode, then single-click the item under that. It should share the name of your project, which is also the default name of the application that gets generated.
Press command-I to bring up the Info window, then navigate to the Build tag. Set the Configuration drop-down to read All Configurations, then look for a setting called Product Name under the Packaging heading. Change that value to the name you want for your compiled applications.
NOTE: In iTunes Connect you can't change the app name if its either already been approved or is currently in review. To change the name, you must submit a new version of your app.
Whatever you name your binary while building is what it will show up as on the iPhone. Look for "Product Name" in the Target's build settings.
