I have a program which uses the JFreeChart, and it works perfectly fine on NetBeans. However, when I clean and build it into an executable JAR file and open it, I get the following error:
error message
I have the option to copy dependent libraries when building the program checked, and the required libraries have been copied onto the classpath:

Is there anything obvious that I've forgotten to do? How can I fix this?

So I keep getting this error when trying to run my program:
Error occurred during initialization of boot layer
java.lang.module.FindException: Module javafx.controls not found
I'm using a mac with eclipse, and my VM argument is:
--module-path /Users/myname/Desktop/javafx-sdk-11.0.2_3/lib --add-modules javafx.controls,javafx.fxml
I've tried everything, javafx.controls.jar and the other .jar file are in my lib folder. I've reinstalled the javafx program, changed my file path around hundreds of times, and I've tried to install plugins. Does anyone have any idea as too what can be happening? JavaFX is also an added library in my project, and all the .jar files assocated with it are added to it. Please let me know if anyone has an idea. Best!
I had success with the following additional step.
In the Run Configuration->Dependencies tab, click the "ModulePath" and then add the JavaFX JDK's jars (or the /lib folder that holds the jars) to the list.
You can inspect the generated command line, and check that these are included in the -p option.
IDK why this step should be needed. I would think Eclipse should be smart enough to include something on the dependency module path if it were in the project's Build Path Library list.
I have questions about this at eclipse.org and gluon. Maybe there will be an explanation, or fix so that this step isn't needed, or an edit to the documentation to let us know we need to do this.
2 errors : like this (follow the pict)
enter image description here
in a detail.. it's said
1.
Description Resource Path Location Type
Archive for required library: 'C:/Users/Administrator/.m2/repository/org/hibernate/hibernate-core/4.2.1.Final/hibernate-core-4.2.1.Final.jar' in project 'spring' cannot be read or is not a valid ZIP file spring Build path Build Path Problem
2.
Description Resource Path Location Type
The project cannot be built until build path errors are resolved spring Unknown Java Problem
i think it's cuz of a wrong path or no jar file
yeah but so what?
could you advice me some steps to solve it? plz...
Check the jar file written in the error message:
C:/Users/Administrator/.m2/repository/org/hibernate/hibernate-core/4.2.1.Final/hibernate-core-4.2.1.Final.jar
Is it there? Can you open it manually as a zip?
Occasionally it happens that the jar file is not correctly downloaded from the artifactory (when it happens it usually has 0kb size).
Delete the jar file, and let Maven redownload it again, it usually does the trick.
If it does not solve it, there may be a permission problem (does Eclipse has right to write under that path?), or an artifactory problem (are you using the central repository?) or even antivirus could block the download.
So I created a project in netbeans and then added a new JFrame form (this is my first gui app). I was wondering if there was any way to open the source code in another app like textedit and compile it using terminal (javac blah.java, java blah).
I managed to create a .jar file (clean and build) and it works perfectly fine when I try to run it (double click). Now I managed to find the .java file in src but when I compile it I receive 36 errors, which makes no sense since it built and ran perfectly fine and the jar file works.
Essentially I want to just take the source code (not the entire project) and compile it, for example on a computer that does not have netbeans using terminal. Can this be done?
I would also like to emphasize that I'm just a beginner. Thanks!
Standard NetBeans projects are based on Apache Ant. So it should be sufficient to install Ant and a JDK to compile/package your project on another computer or CI system.
What i found to be the culprit to this problem is that on your source code make sure it does not have package. So for example:
"package blablah"
All you have to do is get rid of that, and then take your java file and it should compile perfectly. For some reason that causes the nodefclass error.
I'm trying to compile the javadocs for my application, and for some reason it throws errors while compiling like this:
/Users/Sander/.gradle/caches/artifacts-23/filestore/com.google.gwt/gwt-user/2.4.0/jar/949dcb5d14cb0e2c8dec98efc0760be68753c124/gwt-user-2.4.0.jar(com/google/gwt/dom/client/CanvasElement.java):18: error: cannot access Context
import com.google.gwt.canvas.dom.client.Context;
All the errors thrown are found in gwt-user-2.4.0.jar. Basically, what (I think) it's trying to do is compile the .java source files the jar file contains, which it shouldn't do. Is there a way to make the javadoc command ignore java source files?
I've tried removing the source files from the jar manually, this way the build succeeds. However, since the jar is a gradle dependency, manually altering the file is not an option.
I finally got it to work. As it turned out, the javadoc command needed a sourcepath flag set, because otherwise it would start looking for the source files in the classpath, which contained some source files from the GWT jar file. Since the MinimalJavaDocOptions GWT class doesn't support this, I had to set it manually by adding the following line:
options.addStringOption("sourcepath", <path_to_source>)
This fixed the problem. Obviously it is not ideal, a topic in the Gradle Support Forums has already been created, see http://forums.gradle.org/gradle/topics/allow_javadoc_sourcepath_to_be_set_directly
I have a small GUI application developed with netbeans.
I used the 'clean and build' option to build an executable jar file. .jar file works in my pc. But when i sent the application to my friend he says that it throws 'cannot find the main class' error.
what could be the reason?
Thanks in advance...
Open project property, select run and set Main-Class (textfield) attribute.
EDIT:
Execute the main class in .jar application,
java -jar Application.jar
If you have used any library, try giving the library jar files along with the jar file. For example if your libraries are present in suppose lib folder then give the complete lib folder along with the jar file.
