how to show vscode metadata footer - visual-studio-code

I used to have this row at the bottom of vscode that showed nice file metatdata and branch information.
either an update removed this or I did something to hide it, any idea how to get it back?

I must have disabled this you can enable it in the command pallet with
View:Toggle Status Bar Visibility

How do I make the output window's content always scroll to the bottom?

I came from PyCharm, and starting in VSCode, when I print a lot of content in the output window in VSCode, the output window will stay from the output of the last executed content, and I need to scroll all the way down to see the last part of the new output content.
Is there a way I can set it up so the output window will automatically go to the bottom of the output content? I have googled and searched stackoverflow, without any luck.
Here is some visual to show what I mean
I need to manually scroll down to see the last content
Two things to try:
In your second screenshot, there is a padlock in the top right of your output window. That enables/disables auto scrolling. You currently have is disabled. Try enabling it.
There is a setting called output.smartScroll - I wonder if disabling that might achieve what you want (if you are clicking in the output box at least).

VS Code Terminal panel [duplicate]

Is it possible to get tabs instead of the select list when using multiple terminals from the "integrated terminal" window?
Terminal "tabs" appear to be coming to v1.56. See Terminal Tabs release notes. They are vertical tabs - always visible, if you want, in a resizable view to the left or right. Not like traditional tabs across the top like a browser though.
Tabs in the terminal [are] available as a preview feature and can be
enabled with the following setting:
"terminal.integrated.tabs.enabled": true
The tabs view is a split pane to the right of two split terminals. It
contains icons and labels for each terminal instance.
When enabled, the new tabs view will only show by default when there
is at least 2 terminals.
We've tried to mostly align how the new tabs behave with how the
explorer works, here are some of the other behaviors:
Double clicking the empty space will create a new terminal.
Double clicking the sash will toggle the tabs view width between the "ideal" size which displays all the titles without truncating and a
narrow view that shows only the icons.
The tabs can be moved to the left side using the terminal.integrated.tabs.location setting.
Various other configuration settings available under terminal.integrated.tabs.
Terminal Statuses
Along with tabs, we have introduced the concept of statuses to the
terminal. A terminal can have many statuses, each of which represents
a state the terminal can be in temporarily, with the highest severity
one being displayed next to the tab. Status icons appear to the right
of the terminal title in the tabs view. On hover, details of the
status and any associated actions are presented.
On a tab associated with a terminal that requires a relaunch, a
yellow triangle with an exclamation mark is to the right of the
terminal title.
For now, these states are supported:
Relaunch needed: A warning icon status is used if extensions want to change a terminal's environment.
Disconnected: A plug icon status is used when the terminal loses its connection with its process.
Bell: A bell icon appears when the bell is enabled via the terminal.integrated.enableBell setting and the terminal bell
triggers.
We plan to support task states soon so that task run status is
available at a glance even without activating the tab.
And more at the link. From the Insiders Build:
NO EXTENSION REQUIRED, as docs say:
Ctrl+Shift+5
If enough space, you can press it multiple times. However, as always, extensions might be more sophisticated for the job.
They are called "Terminal Tabs" and you can un-check them to turn them off. Go to your VS code setting User->Features->Terminal and look for the section called "Integrated > Tabs:Enabled" and un-check it.

How to wrap line in PyDev's interactive console?

Each time I want to view a long output line, I have to drag the horizontal scroll bar. Is it possible to set word wrapping in PyDev's interactive console (not editor)?
Unfortunately no, it's not currently possible to enable word wrapping in the PyDev interactive console.
You may report this as a feature request in https://www.brainwy.com/tracker/PyDev (but even better would be providing a pull request for that -- see: http://www.pydev.org/developers.html)
It is now possible as of PyDev 6.2. By default it is not enabled. To see the icon that you have to click to enable visit this. For the possibility that the link disappears, go to the console tab and you will want to look for an icon which has a yellow "left-turn" arrow and click that.

VSCode: How to turn off auto select in File Explorer when changing window tabs?

In VSCode, if I have an editor window tab open and I click anywhere in that editor window, the selected file in the File Explorer changes to the file being edited. I would like to prevent that behavior. This is possible in Visual Studio, but I can't seem to find a similar setting in the preferences file of VSCode.
Can anyone provide some suggestions?
This has been added, see https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/14745.
Configuration is "explorer.autoReveal": false
You can't, at least not today. The only thing you can do, is keeping the scroll position when switching tabs. See this answer for the setting: VSCode prevent file Explorer from jumping
And here is the feature request on Github: https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/14745
(Feel free to add a "Thumbs Up" via Github Reaction at the top so the request gets more attention in the future, this increases the chances that it gets implemented sooner)
