Is it possible to compare two images with Ionic?
The scenario would be this: I have a database with 50 different images of different flowers and corresponding metadata like title and description. If I now take a picture of a flower with my smartphone, can I assign this picture to another one to find the most suitable result?
Do I need services like the Google Cloud Vision API to do this? Or can I do it internally because I already have the database?
PS: If a server is required, Cloud Functions would be a possibility. For example, programming in Python would be possible there.
No Ionic cannot do this.
Ionic is just a UI framework that allows you to build cross-platform apps and specifically mobile apps (iOS, Android, [formerly] WindowsMobile).
What you're trying to do is something that another system could do. Check out OpenCV,
which would be more suitable for your purposes, and then you can use Ionic to build a nice interface around it.

I have a really simple game on both iOS and Android written in Unity and I would like to save user progress across devices/OSes.
I already have Facebook analytics in it and so i was thinking i can implement Facebook Login and just save a couple of numbers on the Facebook server.
Upon some research it seems (?) that Facebook doesn't offer anything like that. You have to set up your own server and then just identify the player with Facebook login. A server like that is really an overkill for the game as i just want to save a simple Level Passed number.
Is there any other way? Can i use Facebook like that to save ONE custom user property? Perhaps i can use Google Play Services (both iOS and Android (?) ) to achieve what i want?
Any other free way of saving user progress across devices?
First thing Google play service stopped support for IOS

Other suggestion for Cross platform services like firebase cloud, photon, Gamesprak etc.

Please not most of them giving free service for development only. Before use please check its price details
I'm researching geo-fencing options for a new app. I need to create geo fences programatically. The options that allows me to do this out there are not in plenty ...
I found ArcGIS geo-trigger service, which seems to do all I need. ArcGIS is well known for GIS services. But I found it strange the lack of buzz around this specific tool.
Is there anyone out there using this service that can help in providing some inside view of it?
Or even alternatives to it ...
Thanks,
Murilo
I do not have any experience with the ArcGIS service, but you might want to check out Plot Projects. You can send a notification when a user enters, exits or dwells in a geofence or perform any other action using geotriggers. You can create an account for free and test it using demo apps for iOS and Android. Additionally there are wrappers for PhoneGap/Cordova and Appcelerator if you want to write your app in JavaScript.
Disclaimer: I work for Plot Projects as a developer.
I'm trying to integrated in our iOS app. Due to the bad relationship between Google & our government, Google Map is not a good idea.
We have bought a local map service company's javascript & Web Services based SDK, now we want to use it on iOS. But it seems that MapKit does not support customer tiles.
So here are my current ideas:
Use UIWebView. But I tried that map in Safari, I can't drag to move the map nor use two fingers to zoom. I think I need to call some javascripts while touch events happens.
Build a costumer UIScrollView, download map images and display them using iOS sdk. But that map service does not have API to download images, I tried to read their 200KB+ undocumented javascript to find out the relationship between location & image files, but I got no results for now.
Both the two ways could face certain legal risks. I'm not sure what the purchase contract is like.
I need suggestions about the two ways or some new ideas. Thanks guys.
There are a couple of non-Google map implementations available on github that you might be able to use (linked via CocoaControls):
NAMapKit
MRMapView
I want to create a inside building map with multiple levels (building floors), directions (navigation), coordinates and statical locations (elevators, escalators, emergency exits, etc) but I don't know what software can I use for that.
Also I want to include this map on a iPhone app so other users can see it and interact with it. I don't know if it's possible to use Google Maps API to doing that.
I could use a image in Illustrator or Dreamweaver to create a image map, but I think that isn't a good option to update data (layout changes often).
Thank you very much!!!
I'll answer the question I asked three years ago, as this can help other StackOverflow users seeking answers to the same question.
Currently there are several tools that can be used to create indoor maps for iOS (iPhone and iPad) apps.
There are two tools that IMHO are the best options, and they have different approaches, as follows:
https://www.indooratlas.com/ - Indoor atlas detects variations to magnetic fields inside buildings to better identifies user's position. You can use smartphones (iPhone and Android) to sense and record these magnetic variations and to map indoor locations.
http://indoo.rs/ - Using iBeacons you can develop indoor maps and guide users with routes inside small our large buildings like malls, universities, museums, etc.
Both tools have APIs that you can use on your apps.
Firstly you need to decide how you want to deliver it. You indicate that it's not just on an iPhone and given it's a building map it probably changes a lot. So I'd be suggesting you look into doing it as a web site. If you go that way there are a whole range of technologies that you can employ to construct a web site. But basically there are two pieces you would need to research and consider. That being the technologies you want to employ on the web server to generate the site, and the technologies you want to use on the client (browser) to view the site.
I'd suggest searching for other similar sites and looking at how they do them. This can tell you two things - what works and what doesn't work.
Lastly you need to consider your strengths, what programming languages do you know? Is it practical for you to learn new languages and technologies for this? What's your budget like? Can you afford to contract the work? etc.
I do have an Idea to integrate with my application. I want to create multiple application within a single one application.
Like
and application containing Weather application as well as image processing application + camera based application.
I want to know Is this thing possible with iphone application?
Please suggest me is this possible with iPhone app development and is it allowed by apple or not.
thanks for your suggestion in advance.
Consider these things as features. Weather information is a feature, image processing is another and camera in another. You can create any number of features in your app. If that is what you have meant by application then that is technically possible and seems also OK with Apple. This is not 3 different applications, rather it's one application with three different features. No matter how many features you have, iOS will treat that as a single application(a single app bundle with a single executable file).
But if are asking whether there is any way to combine separate applications(separate projects, separate app bundles with separate executables) then that is not possible.
Note: Personally I think adding completely different features in a single app is not a good idea.
Go to App Store and search for this app, App Tool Box - All in One. It's exactly the same structure as you mentioned in your post. And it only costs $0.99.
Sure, you can do it. I don't think Apple has anything against an app that does more than one thing. As long as none of those things breaks any of their rules.
