So I've implemented notifications into my app, however I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but the app icon that displays with the notification doesn't display on my iPhone, it instead shows the default icon! The weird thing is that it works on the simulator, but yeah! Is this a bug? Here's what they look like:
It's probably occurring because of the caching of app icons.
Firstly, try restarting the device and the issue must be resolved, I know this doesn't feel like a real solution but, it works this occurs due to weird iOS bug in some versions.
If the issue still persists you can
Uninstall the app.
Restart the device.
Menu - Product - Clean Build Folder
Clear Derived Data.
Then run again and the issue should be fixed.

I desperately need to use the Safari console on iOS 7 to debug a site. I've hooked my iPhone (5) displaying the site to my Mac. I've started Safari (v6.0.5), gone to the Develop menu, and started the web inspector for the site I'm on. I can see the list of elements on the site, which confirms I'm inside the correct inspector.
From what I've read, the logs to the console should be displayed inside the Logs section, and from what I've found inside Apple's iOS Safari documentation, I should be able to view logs inside there. For me though, nothing is ever logged. I can't even access any variables or functions; when I type anything in (e.g. document.title), it just 'logs' exactly what I've written, with the text I've just typed still in the input field. However, typing something that causes the browser on the device to show life works (e.g. alert('hi'); displays the alert dialog box on the device).
Can anyone help? This issue we have is only happening on iOS, and there's barely any other way to find what's going wrong. Is this problem limited to iOS 7?
I can confirm that this is an iOS 7 issue. The console.log statement works fine when using an iOS 6 or below device, but with iOS 7 won't show at all :(
Apple == new Microsoft();
Only minutes after posting this I got logging to work again, not sure if this is required, but it seemed to do magic for me:
Connect iOS 7 device
Open XCode
Setup device for development
Connect using Safari
Presto, I can see log messages again?!? (Mind you, I had not made any code-changes)
I had the same problem, just after updating to iOS 7. The solution was to update safari to the latest version for developers, which is version 6.1.
I have submitted an update of my application to iTunes which I got it approved today. Lately I have downloaded it on my device from iTunes to check and I found one functionality is not working as expected.
Problem:
I have a UIScrollView in my app and has horizontal scrolling. After the update I am not able to scroll it. I restarted the app and then it starts scrolling but scrolling infinite horizontally. I know this sounds stupid.
Immediately I opened my project code and ran it on device to check the issue using development provisioning profile but it is working perfectly over there.
Can any one suggest me what can be the issue? Or how can I debug that what went wrong when I submitted the update to iTunes?
You give us very little to work with, but here are a couple of suggestions:
Make sure you're looking at exactly the same code
Make sure you're testing code built with exactly the same compiler settings. For example, usually when you're running from Xcode you'll compile in debug mode. Don't. Compile it in "release" mode (with all the optimisations switched on)
Don't worry about provisioning profiles; they won't be the problem
If it's affecting all iOS 5 and 6 devices, though, I do wonder how you were testing it? And how fundamental is the scrolling to your app? It did, after all, pass Apple's testing. Maybe it's only happening on your devices because it has some "junk" left over from your previous testing?
I've made an app (called BeSharp), tested it a lot, uploaded it to Apple AppStore, and now all users report that the pop-up menu I use (custom one) does not respond to clicks.
It does not crash, so I don't understand how to get some debugging done.
So, the question:
How can I debug release version?
Thanks in advance.

I solved the issue.
After inserting some NSLog into code, and running release version on real device, I have pinpointed the issue, and it was in custom button component - in 6.1 some Alpha test function works incorrectly.
So I just updated it and everything worked fine.
I am developing an app that uses push notifications, and testing on a device with iOS 5.1.1. I would like to test the scenario where the user is prompted about push notifications during the app's first run. The dialog appears the first time I call registerForRemoteNotificationTypes, but never appears again, even if the app is re-installed from scratch. How can I clear the setting so that the dialog will appear again?
The same question was posted before, but the answers do not work for iOS 5 or later, as noted in the comments there.
Apple's documentation says to uninstall the app and mess with the clock to make it look like the app was uninstalled for a day, but this does not work on iOS5.
Another answer suggested running General -> Reset -> Erase All Content And Settings - I tried this, but it froze my device and I ended up having to power-cycle it. In any case, this is a heavy-handed solution that is not practical for testing.
Another answer suggested removing your app's entry from /private/var/mobile/Library/RemoteNotification/Clients.plist, but this file does not exist on iOS5.
Is there a way to accomplish this on iOS5?
I found a solution that works if your device is jailbroken:
Use an app like iFile to open the file /var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/applicationstate.plist with a property list viewer
Find your app's bundle identifier and delete the key SBRemoteNotificationClient
Restart SpringBoard - either reboot the device, SSH to the device and run killall SpringBoard, or use the Respring app.
Next time you run your app, it will show the notification permission dialog once again.
I've tested this on iOS 5.1.1.
Provided your code paths for iOS 5 and iOS 6 aren't too different, the easiest option is probably to just test that specific behaviour on iOS 6 — the callbacks you get on iOS 5 should be similar enough for it not to be an issue.
Alternatively, change the app's bundle ID. Slightly tedious (in the past I've needed to restart Xcode for it to notice that change in bundle ID), and you'll need a wildcard provisioning profile handy.
I am working on push notification on iPad. My application is a universal application include iPhone and iPad. The iPhone push notification works well, the user receives push, the app name appears in the Setting -> Notifications
However, I have a small issue with the ipad version is that the app name does not appear in the list of Settings -> Notifications. I can still register for the device ID, the iPad does receive the push notification.
Does anyone know what can be a reason? I checked and be sure that both the registering code for both devices are exactly the same
Maybe this is obvious, but did you try to:
Restart the iPad?
Completely remove the App, create a clean build and run that build on the iPad?
Try to install on another iPad? Is the issue also present on the other iPad?
Reinstalling a clean build and restarting the device should do the trick with the majority of strange problems like this one. If this is not resolving your problem it's very important to test on another iPad or completely reset your iPad.
This way you can see if there is something wrong in the iOS install itself. It sounds like this is the case, because push is working and the iPhone version is working fine.
By testing on another iPad you could determine if the problem is in your code/App or in iOS.
Is your iPad updated to the latest version?
Follow the steps mentioned below.

Are you sure you are registering your app at launch time?
I had a similar issue where I removed - (void)registerForRemoteNotificationTypes by accident.
All the devices on which I had the application before removing that line still had the settings, but the new one didn't register to push hence not being registered in Settings.
