I've been making some Power BI (PBI) dashboards with data I have extracted from Azure DevOps Boards (Boards) using PBI's Desktop built connector.
Everything works fine on the desktop application and on the Power BI Web Service.
The Problem:
After moving the PBI file to the PBI local hosted server I can not call the data to be auto refreshed. This is because the same Boards connector is not available for PBI server as is for PBI desktop and web service.
Attempts at a solution:
I have tried to create an API call to get all of the fields from ADO but at the moment I can only call from one work item at a time.
I'm currently looking at calling a query in ADO to produce an excel file that can be placed on the PBI server, but I don't know how to continuously cache data..
Does anyone have any idea if it is possible to add the boards connector or how to accumulate the cached data in a PBI file?

is there any automated way to directly create bugs in Azuredevops projects dashboard and assigned to team whenever Aure loganalytic query based alerts triggered?
Basically, if the Azure Log Analytics query based alerts can call other services or APIs, then it's possible to create work items by calling the REST API Work Items - Create. But, there doesn't seem to be a built-in way to do this.
However, there's an Azure Log Analytics connector in Power Automate. You can try to setup a flow using the Azure Log Analytics and Azure DevOps connectors in Power Automate. The flow will be triggered when the Azure Log Analytics query based alert is trigged.
You need to call the Work Items - Create REST API in flow to create the bug. More information please reference Add an Attachment in Azure Dev Ops using MS Flow and Azure DevOps Integration (via Microsoft Power Automate)
We have a use case where epics and features are maintained in Azure DevOps cloud and user stories in Azure DevOps Server.
Now we are looking for some kind of connectors to sync the data to get complete traceability in Azure DevOps Cloud?
Do you have any suggestions?
You can export work items from server and then import them to service using CSV. Here are the detailed steps:
In Azure DevOps Server, go to "Boards/Queries". Create a query to include all work itmes you want to export. Click "Column options" to include all fields you want. Then click "Export to CSV" to download a CSV file.
Open the CSV file. Delete the ID column and save the change.
In Azure DevOps Service, go to "Boards/Work items". Click "Import Work Items". Choose the CSV file in step 2. Finally, save the work items.
Some other advices:
REST APIs: You can get work items by Work Items - List. Then use them as request bodies to create work items by Work Items - Create.
Use Azure DevOps Server migration tool. However, this tool is more complex to use and requires specific server versions. Click the previous link to download the guide.
We have TFS 2019 installed on premise, want to create PowerBI reports based on analytics Views that are already predefined in TFS. Selecting GetData in PowerBI yields a login screen with collection URL and Team Project. We entered TFS sever name in URL connection and the Team Project respectively, getting an error "invalid account". Prior to this PowerBI asked for Login, logged in with my microsoft user. Can u please advise how to connect Power BI to a TFS on premise, we didn't find helpful material searching for it on the internet. Thanks in advance.

Assuming you have Power BI Desktop in MachineA. Now you need to make sure:
1.The Azure Devops Server is running and you can login the web portal of Azure Devops Server(once called TFS) in MachineA's browser:
2.The Analytics View option is enabled and you have access to view/edit them:
3.In Power BI Desktop: For on-premise Azure Devops Server, the Collection Url shoule be the team collection url instead of simple ServerName or OrgName:
The Team Project name is one of your project name. For me I have Project ForTest in organization Test. And my full url of the project is: http://xxx/Test/ForTest/. So I enter http://xxx/Test/ for Collection Url and ForTest(simple name of team project !!) for Team Project, then it works well to connect to the server:
Ps: I use Azure Devops Server 2019 Update1(1.1) and latest Power BI Desktop downloaded from Microsoft Store.
Hope my steps make some help for you :)
When the login window appears which asking for Account Name to connect TFS, you need to write only name of the account (beginning name of visualtstudio.com) and write specific project name or * if you want to get data for all existing projects.
Eventually what worked was full URL of the collection in the first field and name of team proejct in the second field.
I have some data present on Azure-DevOps which is constantly updated. To get the updated data, I have to create a dashboard which I do through power BI. The problem with power BI is that I'm unable to share the created dashboard with the rest of my colleagues due to the unavailability of Power BI at the enterprise level. At the enterprise level, we have access to MicroStrategy but it doesn't provide a connection to Azure-DevOps. Hence, through the Power BI dashboard, I am forced to create an excel file which I have to refresh and then feed to MicroStrategy so that I can get a dashboard on MicroStrategy.
Is there a way I can connect MicroStrategy to Azure-DevOps or somehow eliminate the manual work involved?
How can I make a connection between Azure-Dev Ops and microstrategy?
For this issue , I am afraid that it is currently not supported to connect azure devops with microstrategy . I didn't find any way to do this .
You could submit a feature request in our Develop Community site. Our PM and product team will kindly review your suggestion. Sorry for any inconvenience.
At present, there seems to be no better way except using Excel Services to pull data from the azure devops data warehouse to microstrategy. This is similar to create Excel based charts and host them on SharePoint sites.
You can refer to this Displaying Excel Reports on SharePoint sites will continue to work part of the docs.
I am working on powerbi charts, in one of my current project I made charts using powerbi desktop of my data.after that I have published those reports into powerbi website.
but when I was published those reports in powerbi website, these can't be refreshed for every 15 minutes.
but those reports or charts are refreshed or updated in powerbi desktop.
please tell what is the problem and how can I achieve it.

Finally I was fixed the issue of refreshing the dataset getting from powerbi desktop in powerbi website.
just i have followed this below link.
https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-refresh-scheduled-refresh/
in that above link just I have followed the Schedule refresh step to configure my dataset created from power bi desktop.
If your data source for report is on-premise, you are required to install and configure power BI gateway. Power BI gateway should be installed on a machine which is always up and running. Gateway is responsible for updating data in power bi cloud from your on-premise data source.
