As seen in the picture I'm browsing the icons but none of them are shown.
Is there a change in a new update or am I missing something here> it used to show the icons while I browsed.
There should be an arrow appearing when you hover on the right side of the tooltip stating "read more". Simply click once and therefore the icons preview should always appear.
Pressing the Ctrl + space in windows can show and hide the icon
press ctrl+space two times,
1)to open icon menu
2)to preview the icon
go to preferences settings and search for "previewlsp" its a dart setting change it to true and restart VsCode then you will be able to preview icons.
I had the same issue. I maximized the VSCode editor, closed the navigation pane on left, and aligned the line most left then icon preview comes into the screen as you can see in the picture.
I don't know the root cause of the problem but the above scenario fixed my issue and it works now. It might be a Flutter/Dart extension-related topic.
If I would find the real root cause and proper solution, I will update my answer. I hope this workaround works for you too.

It works for me with setting Dart Preview Flutter Ui Guides setting
Go to Setting and search "preview"
Go to Dart part(see the left part)
check Dart:Preview Flutter Ui Guides

This is my first stack overflow post. I am learning web development so please bare with me.
I was watching a tutorial and notice the Youtuber had icons showing in the tab where you have open files to work on them. On mine they only appear on the side bar? Has anyone experience this problem and know how to fix it?

Another guy with the same thing
The settings are set right and I tried the settings with Seti (default) and Material Icon Theme (downloaded) and both have the same issue.

Okay, so I am very dumb and I can't do simple searches apparently.
The toggle icon option was deselected in the settings apparently.
Once I selected it, the icons appeared and it was a simple fix.
It was a setting option this whole time!
I have this Chrome DevTools color picker issue where the eyedropper is not working when I change the dock position to bottom. The default setting is on the right side and the color picker eyedropper is working fine but not when I change the position. Is there any setting for this? Cause I am unable to find it from DevTools settings.
1. Default Color Picker Eyedropper - dock to right
2. Dock to bottom
Go to settings > experiments > and uncheck "Enable color picking outside the browser window" this should solve the problem. It worked for me.
I had the same issue, for me it happens only when I use multiple screens
So if I have tab in the left screen and use Chrome DevTools color picker eyedropper isn't working but when I move the browser tab in to the right screen and started working again.
Also you can check this answer for a similar issue here: Google Chrome color picker isn't responding
This might help solve your problem it's quite simple. Make sure the edit 'pencil' looking icon located right next to the circle is activated in your Chrome DevTools. Clicking on it triggers the color picker hover tool on and off.
Google Chrome color picker isn't responding. I tried re-installing and resetting Chrome. How can this be resolved?
"Reset devtools" doesn't fix the issue. I am not entirely sure what the exact cause of this bug is, but the only fix available will need to be done in an update. I could not find it in the code itself, although I didn't spend much time looking.
The main issue is that when your dev tools are docked to the bottom of the window, then the color picker will not show. It will load though, but the interface wont show. More than likely it is either in the wrong layer, or has some issue with its actual display, as no errors are thrown.
Anyway, the reason resetting dev tools works is because the default setting is to dock the dev tools to the right side of the screen (presumably, their testing showed most users use a wide screen, multiple screen, setup; as a result, there is room on the side of the screen).
If you, like me, use dev tools docked to the bottom, then in order to see the color picker, you need to change the dev tool temporarily to be docked to the right side of the screen. This does not require the settings to be reset, just simply change the docking position.
if your color picker not working on your mouse pointer, then you have to change your display settings, if your display settings are at scale 125 or more then your color picker won't work in any of the browsers, if you change your display setting to 100% your color picker will automatically start working
Changing the window size brings back the color picker. If the window is full screen size, get out of full screen size.
The solution that worked for me is:
Get out of full screen mode (Un-maximize window).
Reduce the window size, specially the width.
Docking the dev-tools to right side, Scaling the display, Lowering display resolution also brings the color-picker back as all of these affects the browser window size. Hopefully this bug will be addressed soon.
Open the inspect elements -> go to settings -> Preferences -> scroll down to the end you will see button "Restore defaults and reload" -> click on it and it will work
I had the same issue on Chrome 108.0.5359.98 on Arch for a long time now.
The problem was fixed by simply unchecking one of the experiments in DevTools - Settings - Experimets - Enable color picking outside the browser window.
scale your display settings to 100 % and again re scale to 125%(recommended).
For me chaning the Devtools zoom size worked not the webpage size.
Ctrl + Mouse wheel zooms in or out on the dev tools dock.
The problem is quite simple. You are unable to use the color picker because you have enabled the mobile view or any other device view
and, you got the answer, you just need to close the device toolbar and you are good to go.
Hope that works 😃
In my VS Code set up I see the output/FSI frame below the main text editor pane like this:
whereas I would love it to appear to the right in the side-by-side view like it does on the images in this link: http://www.wintellect.com/devcenter/jwood/a-quick-look-at-f-in-visual-studio-code
Is there a config option I cannot find somewhere?
I tried Googling but drew a blank and cannot see anything obvious in the config options mentioned on the vs code site page describing the config options
as of version 1.51.1 right click in the right corner on the output panel. then select option 'move panel right'
I don't believe you can detach/move the output windows in Visual Studio Code. You can move the side bar to the left/right side, but that's it. There is no config option, sorry.
You could try posting a feature request on the GitHub page: https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode
EDIT: This was changed in VS Code 0.10.8, it was once on the side but was moved to the bottom. See this GitHub issue: https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/2806
This feature is not available yet in VS Code. However as of today (March 30, 2017) it's on 6 months roadmap so it should be done in a near feature.
This feature is available from version 1.18.0+
Simply click this icon to dock to the right:
Just follow the steps mentioned:
In Visual Studio Code -
View Tab > Appearance > Toggle Panel Position
That's it.
Your original link to the view your desire is obsolete, so it is a guess as to what you wanted. But here is a demo of setting up a terminal/output look side-by-side. It is a little tricky - you drag your Outline header over the Terminal header which will then allow you the option of putting it to the left or right of the Terminal:
its easy. just right-click on the terminal, select 'move panel right' like in the image below and voila
the image can be found here
Vertical Split:
From VS Code Menu bar:
View >> Appearance >> Move Panel Right
Version 1.47.0 of VS Code (at the moment of posting this, the latest one) allows you to drag output (or any other panel tab, e.g. terminal) to the activity bar. This way you can obtain output to the side of the editor.
Just right click on the panel of output section then select "Move panel left or right" as per your wish.
here your can see the move panel left option.
Press CTRL + SHIFT + P
Select Preferences: Open User Settings (JSON)
Insert (or change if it is there --search for it) the following config line:
"workbench.panel.defaultLocation": "right",
Save file.
That will work for new workspaces. VS-Code saves your preferences for each folder you start it in. So, if you navigate to a folder you previously called VS-Code in (I mean, from the terminal), it will open the output panel in the same location it was the last time you have used VS-Code from the same location.
After making the change above, go to a new place, like /opt and start VS-Code there to make a test.
The Icons of all of Panels in my Eclipse are hidden till I hover my mouse on them.
I have searched many hours in Google and Eclipse to find out a Setting without a success. How can I set them to be shown permanently like this image?
