How to align child widgets of wrap widget to left? - flutter

When I use a wrap for listing some widgets I have some problems. Wrap automatically align-center its child widgets. How can I align-left if there is one widget on the row?
Wrappping Output - 1
Wrapping Output - 2
Wrap(
crossAxisAlignment: WrapCrossAlignment.start,
alignment: WrapAlignment.start,
children: customAnnouncementLabels
.map(
(customAnnouncementLabel) => LabelChip(
text: customAnnouncementLabel.name,
color: customAnnouncementLabel.bgColor,
isDetailed: false,
),
)
.toList(),
),

Try wrapping your Wrap Widget with a SizedBox Widget with maximum width
SizedBox(
width: double.infinity,
child: Wrap(
children: [] // Your Children
))

Try it :
runAlignment: WrapAlignment.start

mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.start for left align, mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.end for right side can be used with Column to get similar output.

i need to remove this text over flow in flutter. how can i do that?

I am facing error in the Text widget which is in Column.
body: Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(20),
child: Column(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.spaceAround,
children: [
Row(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.spaceAround,
children: [
Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.start,
children: [
Text(
widget.songModel.displayNameWOExt, <------- here is my text
),
Text(
widget.songModel.artist.toString(),
overflow: TextOverflow.fade,
),
],
),
],
), ), );
This is what happened to me
This is what i need look like
Wrap the Text that is inside a Row widget with an Expanded widget:
Expanded(child: Text(/* Here the text*/),
wrap the text with the container and give a specific size to the container after that use overflow: TextOverflow.fade or any other property of "overflow", because these properties only work when you give a size to textfield but you cant give size to textfield so wrap it with container.
try embedding the Text() widget inside a Expanded() widget expanded documentation
Expanded is a widget that expands a child of a Row, Column, or Flex so that the child fills the available space.

Flutter : Error after add Spacer() in my row Children

I do a row for many button that can do scroll vertical, but i need some space between button, so i add Spacer() for create a space
SingleChildScrollView(
.....
child: Column(
children: [
Row(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: [
TextButton(
....
),
Spacer(),
TextButton(
....
),
],
)
],
),
)
After I add syntax Spacer() there, I got this Error
Error screenshot,
I change my Row() to Wrap(), then I add spacing: from wrap widget
Wrap(
spacing: 100,
....
)
and Done, Thx everyone
Try to wràp your SingleChildScrollView with Container that has a preferred size, e.g. Container(width: 400, height 400, child: SingleChilScrollView....). If it doesn't work, use SizedBox or Divider instead of Spacer.

Center the first widget in a row in flutter

I would like to center the FirstWidget in a row in flutter, not the complete row. The second widget should follow right next to it.
{
return Container(
child: Row(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.center,
children: [
FirstWidget(...),
SecondWidget(...), ],
));
}
```
Assuming that the other widgets have the same width, we could use the Spacer widget to fill the space, as per the following code:
Row(
children: [
FirstWidget(),
Spacer(),
CenteredWidget(),
Spacer(),
SecondWidget(),
]
)
Another solution would be to wrap the Row in a Stack and use the power of Positioned to overlay a Widget in the center:
Stack(
alignment: Alignment.center,
children: [
FirstWidget(),
Row(children: _rowChildren),
],
)
Flutter: How to adjust the height of a container as the maximum height of its sibling in a row
I have two widgets in a row. The first widget is a black line with width 5.0, the second widget is a text widget whose size may vary according to the content. I want the first container to have the same height as of the second widget
One way is to make both widget child of an IntrinsicHeight widget and then declare the height of the first container as double.infinity. This should solve your problem. Example code is given below:
IntrinsicHeight(
child: Row(
children: <Widget>[
Container( //this is the first container
height: double.infinity
),
secondWidget(
)
],
)
Let me know if you have further query. Happy coding!
You can use Expanded widget. It divides siblings to the same height or width.
here is the code:
Row(
children: <Widget>[
Expanded(
child: Container(
color: Colors.red,
),
),
Expanded(
child: Container(
color: Colors.green,
),
)
And here is the result:
That is so easy. I wish it could help.
Text inside nested Row is not wrapping unless enclosing column is wrapped in Flexible widget
The text inside my Text widget is not wrapping, even when wrapped in a Flexible widget. I found a workaround but it involves wrapping a Column widget inside a Flexible widget which I am not sure is best practice.
I have seen many similar answers online, but none for my exact problem. It is relevant that my text widget in question is nested inside the following hierachy Row -> Column -> Row
A rough idea of how this layout should look:
Here is the original code. When run the text overflows the screen rather than wrapping.
Row(
children: [
Column(
mainAxisSize: MainAxisSize.min,
children: [
Text("top column"),
Row(
children: [
Text("left row"),
Text(
"this is the text that needs to wrap, this is the text that needs to wrap",
),
],
),
],
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.start,
),
Text("right side"),
],
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.spaceBetween,
);
Here is code that solves my problem, but it involves wrapping both the Text widget AND the outer Column widget in a Flexible widget:
Row(
children: [
Flexible( // added Flexible widget, but doesn't seem correct.
child: Column(
mainAxisSize: MainAxisSize.min,
children: [
Text("top column"),
Row(
children: [
Text("left row"),
Flexible( // added Flexible widget
child: Text(
"this is the text that needs to wrap, this is the text that needs to wrap",
),
)
],
),
],
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.start,
),
),
Text("right side"),
],
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.spaceBetween,
);
Is there a better way to achieve this wrapping or is enclosing the Column in a Flexible widget a satisfactory approach?
Your approach is right, here's why :
You managed to the problem of the inner Row long text by wrap it into a Flexible,to prevent an overflow in the horizontal axis.This works perfectly if this is your whole tree,but this isn't the case.
Up on your widget tree there is no horizontal constraint limiting the width of children.Column wraps in the vertical axis, so the children of the upper-most Row one with fixed width (Text("right side")) and the other is unbounded one (Column).
When you wrapped the Column with Flexible, it made children bounded horizontally. Another approach would be to use a Container, but it is not the best one as it needs you to give the width before build.
