Make Column begin in a fixed position on the screen - flutter

I'm trying to make a column with two children begin at a certain position on the screen. The 2nd child is a dynamic ListView where I do not want the number of children changing the position of the column.
How is this possible?

Just wrap your ListView with Expanded widget .
Example:
Column(
children: [
Expanded( //here
child: ListView.builder(
itemBuilder: (context, index) => Text('test $index'),
itemCount: 50, ),
),
Column(
children: [
Container(height: 100, color: Colors.yellow),
OutlinedButton(onPressed: (){}, child: Text('Test'),),
Text('Another Test')
]
)
],
),
I used a Listview.builder because I don't want to do it one by one. Just for the example
You can learn more about Expanded widget by watching this Official video or by visiting flutter.dev

Use of Listview.builder makes the screen go away

I want to show Listview underneath my two widgets but when i hot reload, nothing happens and if i run again, UI shows blank screen. If i remove Listview.builder it works fine.
Below is my code.
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
import 'package:plant_clone/constants.dart';
import 'package:plant_clone/model/model.dart';
import 'package:plant_clone/screens/home/components/header_with_searchbox.dart';
import 'package:plant_clone/screens/home/components/title_with_more_btn.dart';
import 'package:plant_clone/viewmodel/recommended_plants_viewmodel.dart';
class Body extends StatelessWidget {
RecommendedPlantViewModel recommendedPlantViewModel =
new RecommendedPlantViewModel();
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
Size size = MediaQuery.of(context).size;
recommendedPlantViewModel.setWidgetsData();
return SingleChildScrollView(
child: Column(
children: [
HeaderWithSearchBox(size: size),
TitleWithMoreButton(
title: "Recommended",
press: () {},
),
ListView.builder(
scrollDirection: Axis.horizontal,
itemCount: 3,
itemBuilder: (context, index) {
return Card(
child: ListTile(
onTap: (){},
title: Text('Hello'),
),
);
})
],
),
);
}
}
It doesn't look like there's any other way than setting height constraint using a SizedBox that's wrapping a ListView.
Column(
mainAxisSize: MainAxisSize.min,
children: [
SizedBox(
height: size.height,
child: ListView.builder(
...
),
),
],
)
https://flutter.dev/docs/cookbook/lists/horizontal-list
i think it happened because the list view should have a height,,
the esiest way is to test that put it inside a container and give a height to it..
and the second way is wrap the listview inside a Expanded widget and it will fix ..
if not then post the error from debug log
In order to make this to work, you must wrap your ListView with a Container and define the height property as it is part of a Column. You also need to wrap the widget returned by the itemBuilder with a Container and define the width property as the scrollDirection is set to Axis.horizontal.
Container(
height: 100,
child: ListView.builder(
scrollDirection: Axis.horizontal,
itemCount: 3,
itemBuilder: (context, index) {
return Container(
width: 100,
child: Card(
child: ListTile(
onTap: () {},
title: Text('Hello'),
),
),
);
},
),
)

How to make a SingleChildScrollView with nested ListView?

I have a list of days, and a list of opening hours for each day.
I need to make the list of days scrollable, and the list of opening hours expands as necessary (= I don't want the list of opening hours to be scrollable into a defined height container).
How to make the list scrollable ?
Here is what I have so far, a list of days that is not scrollable (and I can't see sunday) :
SingleChildScrollView(
child: ListView.builder(
itemCount: _days.length,
itemBuilder: (context, i) {
return Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.start,
children: [
Padding(
padding: EdgeInsets.all(18.0),
child: Text(_days[i],
style: TextStyle(
fontWeight: FontWeight.bold,
color: Colors.grey[700]))),
Container(
decoration: BoxDecoration(color: Colors.white),
child: ListView.builder(
shrinkWrap: true,
itemCount: _daysDispos[i].length,
itemBuilder: (context, j) {
final dispo = _daysDispos[i][j];
return ListTile(
title: Text(dispo.address.line));
}),
)
],
);
})),
EDIT
In the first listView builder, add :
physics: NeverScrollableScrollPhysics()
Solved my issue.
A good solution would be using Expandable package, and add multiple Expandables inside a single ListView.
Another Solution would be replacing the outer ScrollView with one single ListView, whose Childs will be 7 Columns, each column contains a group of opening hours.
You can try CustomScrollView with multiple SliverLists for your purposes instead of using SingleChildScrollView:
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return CustomScrollView(
slivers: <Widget>[
SliverList(
delegate: SliverChildListDelegate([
Column(
children: <Widget>[
//Widgets you want to use
],
),
]),
),
SliverList(
delegate: SliverChildListDelegate([
Column(
children: <Widget>[
//Widgets you want to use
],
),
]),
),
],
);
}

how to align listview items top left?

i am trying to align list view items at the top left, but it aligns them in the center. I tried this with another widget, it works fine, but with the listview, it doesn't.
here is my code
Container(
height: height * 30,
// color: Colors.grey[400],
alignment: Alignment.topLeft,
child: ListView.builder(
itemBuilder: (context, i) => ReviewItem(
review: book.reviews[i]['review'],
date: book.reviews[i]['date'],
),
itemCount: book.reviews.length,
),
),
this is the review item
Column(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.start,
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.start,
children: <Widget>[
Text(
timeago.format(DateTime.parse(date)),
style: Theme.of(context).textTheme.headline4.copyWith(
fontSize: width * kFont12Ratio, color: Colors.grey[500]),
),
SizedBox(height: height * 0.5),
Text(review),
Divider(),
],
);
Thanks in advance
By default, ListView will automatically pad the list's scrollable extremities to avoid partial obstructions indicated by MediaQuery's padding. In other words, if you put a widget before the ListView, you should wrap the ListView with a MediaQuery.removePadding widget (with removeTop: true). Like so:
MediaQuery.removePadding(
context: context,
removeTop: true,
child: ListView.builder(...),
);
I achieved that by adding padding inside the listview builder
padding: EdgeInsets.only(top: 0),
You can use padding instead
Or use Stack with Position (top:0,left:0)
Or use Align( )

Set Containers array into Stack view Flutter

I am trying to display a ListView Horizontal n times in Stack or Row. But in the end all the ListViews are piled up instead shows one by one from top to bottom.
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text("Prueba para trabajar en el proyecto"),
),
body: Stack(
children: <Widget>[
_crearLista(),
_crearLista(),
_crearLista(),
_crearLista(),
_crearLista(),
//_crearLoading(),
],
),
);
}
Widget _crearLista() {
return Container(
child: Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
Flexible(
child: Container(
width: MediaQuery.of(context).size.width,
height: MediaQuery.of(context).size.height * 0.25,
decoration: BoxDecoration(),
child: ListView.builder(
scrollDirection: Axis.horizontal,
itemCount: _listaNumeros.length,
itemBuilder: (BuildContext context, int index) {
//return image
},
controller: _scrollController,
),
),
)
],
),
);
}
Any suggestions? please. I want to show all the LsitViews.
A Stack widget puts its children above each other (overlapped or piled up) at the left top corner of the stack by default. Unless you position each child using a Positioned or Align widget. To have all the children one below the other (starting from top of the screen towards bottom), you need to use a Column instead of Stack.
Stack children behave like layers, one covers second, etc.
If you want one child exactly below another, there is ListView and Column

How to fix text overflow problem and make a card larger in Flutter?

I'm building out an app in flutter and I want to display a few cards in a list-view. The problems I'm facing are the following:
I get a text-overflow when I have Text widgets in a column.I semi-fixed this by wrapping the Text widget in an Expanded widget, but it looks a bit cutoff (ex. "Question: How do you do problem 2?" (refer to picture below)).
I want to build a larger card with a greater height and more room/white space. I've tried wrapping my column widget in a container and set the height manually, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
Here is what the card looks like right now:
Relevant code shown below:
itemBuilder: (context, index) => snapshot
.data.metadata.isFromCache
? _buildListItem(context,
snapshot.data.documents[index])
Widget _buildListItem(BuildContext context, DocumentSnapshot document) {
return document.data['didProblems']
? Card(
child: Center(
child: Container(
child: Column(
mainAxisAlignment: MainAxisAlignment.center,
children: <Widget>[
Text('${document.data['fullName'].toString()}'),
SizedBox(
height: 5.0,
),
Text('HW Assignment: ${document.data['title'].toString()}'),
SizedBox(
height: 5.0,
),
Text('Problems attempted: ${document.data['problems']}'),
Expanded(child: Text('Question: ${document.data['question'].toString()}'), flex: 1,),
],
),
),
),
)
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
if u r using listview then set itemExtent property to ur convenience e.g.
ListView.builder(
itemCount: 10,
itemBuilder: (_, int index) => YourWidget(),
itemExtent: 150,
),
Even after wrapping your text in an Expanded you have to set overflow to TextOverflow.clip
Try this
Expanded(child: Text('Question: ${document.data['question'].toString()}', overflow: TextOverflow.clip), flex:1,),
