Firebase Cloud Functions Array Parameter Undefined - swift

When I try to put an array as a parameter for cloud functions. In my code, the array shows up correct, but in the logs for the cloud function it shows up as undefined.
Array Result:
["user1", "user2"]
Cloud Function:
const functions = require("firebase-functions");
const admin = require("firebase-admin");
admin.initializeApp();
exports.chatNotifications = functions.https.onCall((data, context) => {
const title = data.title;
const payloadMsg = data.message;
const memberList = data.membersList;
functions.logger.log("Member List:", memberList);
for (let i = 0; i < memberList.count; i++) {
const memberName = memberList[i];
const message = {
notification: {
title: title,
body: payloadMsg,
},
topic: memberName,
apns: {
payload: {
aps: {
badge: "1",
},
},
},
};
admin.messaging().send(message)
.then((response) => {
// Response is a message ID string.
console.log("Successfully sent message:", response);
})
.catch((error) => {
console.log("Error sending message:", error);
});
}
});
Code:
functions.httpsCallable("chatNotifications").call(["title": chatName, "message": name + " has been added to the group", "memberList": memberList]) { (result, error) in
if let error = error as NSError? {
if error.domain == FunctionsErrorDomain {
let message = error.localizedDescription
print(message)
}
}
if let text = result?.data as? String {
print("Result: ", text)
}
}

I can see that in your code you are sending this:
"memberList": memberList
But in the cloud function you have this:
data.membersList
The name of the data is different, also use
memberList.length
instead of
memberList.count

NEXT, upload file along with metadata (Axios and Formidable with Node JS)

I want to upload a file to NEXT apis along with metadata:
const data = new FormData();
data.append('file', file);
data.append('body', JSON.stringify({ hello: 'world' }));
console.log('Sending');
axios
.post('/api/test-route', data, {
headers: {
'content-type': 'multipart/form-data',
'Authorization': 'json-token',
},
})
.then((response: AxiosResponse) =>
console.log('data = ', response.data)
)
.catch((error: unknown) => console.log(error));
Here's my API Code:
// Backend
import formidable from 'formidable';
import { NextApiRequest, NextApiResponse } from 'next';
import {
errorResponse,
genericResponse,
getErrorDetailsFromKey,
} from '#global-backend/utils/api/responseSynthesizer';
import {
ErrorCodes,
IResponse,
} from '#constants/interfaces/gcorn/backend/apis/response.interfaces';
export const config = {
api: {
bodyParser: false,
},
};
// eslint-disable-next-line import/no-anonymous-default-export
export default async (req: NextApiRequest, res: NextApiResponse) => {
const form = new formidable.IncomingForm();
//#ts-ignore
form.uploadDir = './'; //#ts-ignore
form.keepExtensions = true;
const opsDetails = getErrorDetailsFromKey(
ErrorCodes.INVALID_OR_CORRUPTED_FILE
);
let response = errorResponse({ opsDetails });
let status_code = 400;
const payload: { response: IResponse; status_code: number; error: boolean } =
await new Promise((resolve) => {
let flag = 0;
form.parse(req, (err, _, files) => {
const isError = err?.message !== undefined;
if (isError) {
response = errorResponse({
message: err.message,
opsDetails,
});
status_code = 400;
}
console.log('Files = ', Object.keys(files.file));
const fileCheck = checkImageFileValidity(files.file as unknown as File);
if (fileCheck.error) {
opsDetails.details = fileCheck.message;
response = errorResponse({
message: fileCheck.message,
opsDetails,
});
status_code = 400;
}
response = genericResponse({
status_code: 201,
opsDetails: getErrorDetailsFromKey(
ErrorCodes.FUNFUSE_PROFILE_UPDATE_SUCESS
),
});
status_code = 201;
flag = 1;
resolve({ response, status_code, error: false });
});
});
return res.status(payload.status_code).json(payload.response);
};
const checkImageFileValidity = (
file: File
): { error: boolean; message: string } => {
const { type, size } = file;
// Must be less than 5MBs in Size and Must be Image File
if (size > 5000000)
return { error: true, message: 'File Size More than 5MBs' };
if (!type.includes('image'))
return { error: true, message: 'File is not an image' };
return { error: false, message: 'File is valid' };
};
But for some reason, I don't know how can I parse body part of my form which extracts the info: {hello:world}.
Does anyone know a way to parse it and collect in the backend ?
Assuming everything else is correct, you need to check the _ variable

Swift 5/iOS 13+ – Google Cloud Functions won't let me add a value

I'm using Google Cloud Functions (GCF) to schedule posts on Instagram (an app similar to Hootsuite). I just integrated local notifications and I want to add the ID (generated automatically by my "notificationManager") to the post (data sent to Google Cloud).
Basically, the way that it works is the app sends the data to GCF and GCF is responsible for adding the elements to Firestore Database, but after many failed attempts, I cannot seem to figure out how to add an additional value. My goal is to add the element "notificationIdentifier", but for some reason, GCF won't register it (I can't even see it in the logs!).
Here's what's in GCF:
/* eslint-disable max-len */
/* eslint-disable */

//
admin.initializeApp();
const app = express();
const main = express();
const db = admin.firestore();

And the "ScheduleIGPost" function for your entertainment:
import Foundation
import SwiftyJSON
import Alamofire
struct AppUrls {
static let baseUrl = URL that I wont disclose
static let registerIGAccounts = baseUrl + "register"
static let scheduleIGPosts = baseUrl + "schedule"
static let updateIGPosts = baseUrl + "update-schedule"
static let removeIGPosts = baseUrl + "remove-schedule"
}
class ServerApi {
static let shared = ServerApi()
func scheduleIGPosts(param: [String: Any], success: #escaping(JSON) -> Void, failure: #escaping(JSON) -> Void) {
ApiWrapper.requestPOSTURLWithoutToken(AppUrls.scheduleIGPosts, params: param, success: {(response) in
print(JSON(response))
success(JSON(response))
}, failure: { (error) in
let err = JSON(error)
print(err)
failure(err)
})
}
I did check and see if "param" included "notificationIdentifier" when sending to GCF and it does, but if I check the logs in GCF, I can see everything that's supposed to be except for "notificationIdentifier". And when I replace, for example, "tags" with the "notificationIdentifier", then it works.
I'm unsure if Firestore/Firebase has a limit of elements or not and why this behaviour is happening. To be honest, I couldn't find much information online.
Feel free to ask any questions if I was unclear, as I tend to be!
This was solved quite simply, the app is using a Cloud Function called "API" which is used before accessing the "Schedule" function. So changed the values (or rather added the values) and everything is working fine now.

let res = await axios.get('http://localhost:5000/api/services/displayUser' , userId)
commit('setProducts', res.data)
return res;
}
};
const mutations = {
setProducts (state, items) {
state.services= items
},
};
export default {
state,
actions,
mutations,
getters
};
This is how I am calling the action :
computed: {
...mapGetters(["services"]),
},
methods: {
...mapActions(["fetchServices"]),
getData(){
this.fetchServices(this.user._id)
},
},
async created() {
await this.getProfile();
await this.getData();
}
The axios route is defined as
router.get('/displayUser', (req,res) => {
const query = user = req.body ;
Services.find(query)
.exec((err, services) => res.json(services))
})
the error screenshot :
Error screenshot
GET request should not have a body. Either use query params, indicate an id in a path, or use POST request.
In case of query params this may look like this:
let res = await axios.get('http://localhost:5000/api/services/displayUser' , { params: { userId })
router.get('/displayUser', (req,res) => {
const query = user = req.query;
Services.find(query)
.exec((err, services) => res.json(services))
})
This worked for me too:
In front end: Vue Js
let res = axios.get("http://localhost:3000/api/v1/role/getRoleByName",
{ params: { roleName: "name of role you want to send as params" },
});
In back end: Node Js
router.get('/getRoleByName', (req,res)=>{
let roleName = req.query.roleName;
roleModule.getRoleByName(roleName).then(data =>{
response.json(res,data)
}
).catch(err=> {
response.badRequest(res, err);
})
});
it's a silly mistake axios.post req.
async addTodo({ commit }, title) {
try {
const res = await axios.post(BASE_URL, { title, complete: false });
commit("newTodo", res.data);
} catch (err) {
console.log(err.message);
}
},

Unable to return an array of json from Cloud Firestore via Cloud Functions (onCall) to Swift

I have a problem getting the result from a Cloud Function.
This is my Cloud Function:
exports.retrieveTrips = functions.https.onCall((data, context) => {
const uidNumber = context.auth.uid;
var arrayOfResults = new Array();
var idOfFoundDoc;
var query = admin.firestore().collection('Users').where('UID','==', uidNumber);
query.get().then(snapshot =>
{
snapshot.forEach(documentSnapshot =>
{
idOfFoundDoc = documentSnapshot.id;
});
var queryDoc = admin.firestore().collection('Users').doc(idOfFoundDoc).collection('Trips');
queryDoc.get().then(snapshot =>
{
snapshot.forEach(documentSnapshot =>
{
arrayOfResults.push(documentSnapshot.data());
});
console.log('ARRAY: ' , arrayOfResults);
return arrayOfResults;
})
.catch (err =>
{
console.log ('Error adding document: ', err);
});
})
.catch (err => {
//response.send('Error getting documents', err);
console.log ('Error getting documents', err);
});
And this is the code that I have in my application.
#IBAction func RetrieveTripsButton(_ sender: Any)
{
self.functions.httpsCallable("retrieveTrips").call() {(result, error) in
if let error = error as NSError? {
if error.domain == FunctionsErrorDomain
{
let message = error.localizedDescription
print ("Message: " + message)
}
return
}
print ("Result: -> \(type(of: result))")
print("Result.data type: \(type(of: result?.data))");
print ("Result.data -> \(result?.data)")
}
}
And this is the printed result.
Result: -> Optional<FIRHTTPSCallableResult>
Result.data type: Optional<Any>
Result.data -> Optional(<null>)
The console log is able to print arrayOfResults correctly. Furthermore, when I change this functions to onRequest and feed it the relevant information, the res.status(200).send(arrayOfResults) is able to display the array of JSON in the page.
If I placed the return arrayOfResults; outside of the .then function, I would get a result along with an empty array. My issue is similar to this problem here but I'm unable to receive even that when I return { text: "some_data" }; .
Any help would be great, thank you!
You have to chain the different promises and return the result of the promises chain, as follows.
Note that it is actually what the OP explains in his answer to the SO post you mention "The issue was that I forgot to return the actual promise from the cloud function".
exports.retrieveTrips = functions.https.onCall((data, context) => {
const uidNumber = context.auth.uid;
const arrayOfResults = new Array();
let idOfFoundDoc;
const query = admin.firestore().collection('Users').where('UID','==', uidNumber);
return query.get().then(snapshot => { // here add return
snapshot.forEach(documentSnapshot =>
{
idOfFoundDoc = documentSnapshot.id;
});
const queryDoc = admin.firestore().collection('Users').doc(idOfFoundDoc).collection('Trips');
return queryDoc.get(); // here add return and chain with then()
})
.then(snapshot => {
snapshot.forEach(documentSnapshot => {
arrayOfResults.push(documentSnapshot.data());
});
console.log('ARRAY: ' , arrayOfResults);
return { arrayOfResults : arrayOfResults }; //return an object
})
.catch (err => {
console.log ('Error getting documents', err);
//Here you may return an error as per the documentation https://firebase.google.com/docs/functions/callable#handle_errors, i.e. by throwing an instance of functions.https.HttpsError
});
});
I would also suggest that you look at these two videos from the Firebase team, about Cloud Functions and promises: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IkUgCLr5oA and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=652XeeKNHSk.

How to invoke openwhisk action within openwhisk platform on bluemix?

I have created two actions on OpenWhisk on Bluemix. Both independently work fine when I can call them from outside the OpenWhisk platform. But I want to call action1 from within action2, and am using the following syntax:
var openwhisk = require('openwhisk');
function main(args){
const name = 'action2';
const blocking = true;
const params = { param1: 'sthing'};
var ow = openwhisk();
ow.actions.invoke({name, blocking, params})
.then(result => {
console.log('result: ', result);
return result; // ?
}).catch(err => {
console.error('failed to invoke actions', err);
});
}
But I get an empty result and no console messages. Some help would be great.
Update1:
When adding as suggested the return option, to return the Promise of OpenWhisk, as follows:
return ow.actions.invoke({name, blocking, params})
.then(result => {
console.log('result: ', result);
return result;
}).catch(err => {
console.error('failed to invoke actions', err);
throw err;
});
the response value of action2 is not as expected but contains:
{ "isFulfilled": false, "isRejected": false }
where I expect the return message of action2 (which reads a Google Sheets API) and parses the result:
{
"duration": 139,
"name": "getEventCfps",
"subject": "me#email.com",
...
"response": {
"result": {
"message": [
{
"location": "Atlanta, GA",
"url": "https://werise.tech/",
"event": "We RISE Women in Tech Conference",
"cfp-deadline": "3/31/2017",
...
}
]
},
"success": true,
"status": "success"
},
...
}
So I am expecting I am not parsing the '.then(result' variable in action1 correctly? cause when I test action2 separately, from outside OpenWhisk via Postman or API Connect, or directly by 'Run this action' in OpenWhisk/Bluemix it returns the correct values.
Update2:
Alright solved. I was calling the ow.actions.invoke to action2 in a function that was called within the action1, this nesting of returns, caused the issue. When I moved the invoke code directly in the main function, all resolved as expected. Double trouble when nesting promises and returns. Mea culpa. Thanks everyone
You need to return a Promise in your function try this
var openwhisk = require('openwhisk');
function main(args){
const name = '/whisk.system/utils/echo';
const blocking = true;
const params = { param1: 'sthing'};
var ow = openwhisk();
return ow.actions.invoke({name, blocking, params})
.then(result => {
console.log('result: ', result);
return result;
}).catch(err => {
console.error('failed to invoke actions', err);
throw err;
});
}
If you just want to invoke the action:
var openwhisk = require('openwhisk');
function main(args) {
var ow = openwhisk();
const name = args.action;
const blocking = false
const result = false
const params = args;
ow.actions.invoke({
name,
blocking,
result,
params
});
return {
statusCode: 200,
body: 'Action ' + name + ' invoked successfully'
};
}
If you want to wait for the result of the invoked action:
var openwhisk = require('openwhisk');
function main(args) {
var ow = openwhisk();
const name = args.action;
const blocking = false
const result = false
const params = args;
return ow.actions.invoke({
name,
blocking,
result,
params
}).then(function (res) {
return {
statusCode: 200,
body: res
};
});
}
