Make Scala 3 default in CLI - scala

I've just installed Scala 3 on a brand Ubuntu machine. I used Coursier to install Scala 3 using the official instructions.
I can compile a file using scala3-compiler, but how do I run it? Using the scala command will still default to the 2.13 version of Scala.

Editing ~/.profile file in a section 'coursier install directory' helps.
Initially, the line looks as follows:
export PATH="$PATH:$HOME/.local/share/coursier/bin"
It should be changed to:
export PATH="$HOME/.local/share/coursier/bin:$PATH"
Coursiers bin directory should be defined earlier, since bash picks up the first occurrence of the command among directories defined in PATH environment variable.

How do I specify the java version to use with the Ammonite Scala shell on Windows?

I am working on an enterprise system where I can't control my system Path environment variable, and the system path points to a version of Java that is currently broken. I have another version of Java installed, and I would like to use that to run the Ammonite shell. Is this possible?
My hacky solution was to rename ammonite from amm.bat to amm-default.bat and create a new batch file called amm.bat that just adds my desired jre to the front of the session Path:

set Path=C:\Users\bohlli\.jdks\corretto-1.8.0_292\bin;%Path%
amm_default.bat
I tried changing the path in the ammonite batch script itself, but every time I tried, something broke.

How do I start Spark's Shell on Window's 8.1?

I keep trying to get the Spark shell running to no avail.
OS: Windows 8.1
Spark: 1.3.1
Java: 8
Downloaded both prepackaged and unpackaged variants (unpackaged variant built by maven and simple build tool). I've attempted to resolve my issue three different ways to no avail.
1) From my Spark Directory, I attempt to start its shell with variants of spark-shell.cmd or .\bin\spark-shell.cmd.
I consistently get an error along these lines:
'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
Knowing a possible whitespace error when I see one, I've attempted variants of my command with quotes, full paths, etc. No results thus far.
2) Next, I've tried simply moving my spark directory to highest level of my harddrive (C:\ \spark-1.3.1-bin-hadoop2.6).
With whitespace eliminated as a possible issue, my error messages now fall along these lines:
find: 'version': No such file or directory
else was unexpected at this time.
3) I've tried to invoke Spark through Scala somehow (as some documents and screencasts given the impression). I can confirm that Scala (2.11.6) is properly configured within my environment variables. Its shell works correctly.
If there's supposedly a command to make it start the Spark shell, I'm listening. Current attempts through Scala is another dead end.

In this file bin\spark-class2.cmd find the line
set RUNNER="%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java"
and replace it with (remove the ")
set RUNNER=%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java
Moving Spark directory under C:\ worked for me.(C:\spark-1.6.0-bin-hadoop2.6).
I also updated the system's PATH variable for find.exe
To solve the C:\Program is not recognized, change C:\Program Files to C:\Progra~1, which is an alias for C:\Program Files.
Apart from moving Spark & Scala to C:\ , I had to move java installation to C:\ as well
I just attempted to install Spark On my Windows 8.1 laptop. I followed the instructions given in the Safari online Video titled "Apache Spark with Scala":

After following the simple instructions the "spark-shell" command refused to work at all. I tried everything, reinstalling, changing directory names ... blah blah. I even attempted to rewrite the maze of intertwinning shell scripts that bring it up. All with no success. Finally I tried to install an earlier release.
I installed the "2.1.0:" release instead of the 2.1.1.
EVERYTHING WORKED THEN.

How to set up Matlab MCR for Ubuntu and Netbeans (UnsatisfiedLinkedError)

I am deploying a Java EE project in a server that uses the MCR of Matlab for some image processing functions. I've been trying this for months I can't make it work. The problem is when it is going to uses the MCR it cannot find the .so libraries. I got this error:
javax.servlet.ServletException: Failed to find the library libmwmclmcrrt.so.7.13, required by MATLAB builder JA, on java.library.path. This library is typically installed along with MATLAB or the MCR, its absence may indicate an issue with that installation or r the current path configuration. The MCR version that this component is trying to use is 7.13.
ROOT CAUSE:

Setting the environment variables LD_LIBRARY_PATH and XAPPLERSDIR with setenv:
Command setenv not found
Edit ld.so.conf file and run ldconfig
Add -Djava.library.path=my/path/to/so in glassfish
Add -Djava.library.path=my/path/to/so in Netbeans like says here:
giving 'java.library.path' in netbeans for .dll/.so files

I had the same problem working with Linux, Java EE and Matlab. My solution was:
Open a terminal
Log as root $ su and type password
Edit the /etc/enviroment $ gedit /etc/enviroment
Add the needed variables, in our case:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Compiler_Runtime/v81/runtime/glnxa64:/usr/local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Compiler_Runtime/v81/bin/glnxa64:/usr/local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Compiler_Runtime/v81/sys/os/glnxa64:/usr/local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Compiler_Runtime/v81/sys/java/jre/glnxa64/jre/lib/amd64/native_threads:/usr/local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Compiler_Runtime/v81/sys/java/jre/glnxa64/jre/lib/amd64/server:/usr/local/MATLAB/MATLAB_Compiler_Runtime/v81/sys/java/jre/glnxa64/jre/lib/amd64"

Save the file and reboot.
Start the server as root.
What happened with your other solutions, like the export, was that there was no visibility between the variables that you created and the GlassFish server. Setting variables in the environment will asure you that they are visible from any other program/process.

make virtualenvwrapper to work with different python versions

fix: sorry, all is fine, error was because of no module installed in this new environment, jinja2.
First time using virtualenvwrapper so I am little confused.
Setup went fine, I read the docs, but still I don't understand few things.
In my .bashrc file I've set:

source /usr/bin/virtualenvwrapper.sh
I already have my project files, so I thougt I should do the following:
Go into ~/Snakepit/ directory, run mkvirtualenv -p /usr/bin/python2 [ envname ]
(I need this specific version for my project), and I saw it created in
~/.virtualenvs/ dir.
My command promt changes showing me that my new environment is [ envname ].
When I do now: python -V, it shows that I am using version 2.7 of python, so
all is well!
But when I move now, my project files into Snakepit directory, and try
running my program with python myprogram.py it shows me errors because it
still tries to run my program with python 3.
How is that possible when python -V shows version 2.7?
Error was not about python version being run, but instead module missing in newly created environment. I will leave it, for a feature reference.

Where do I get libpq source?

I want to write application which uses Postgresql as DBMS.
To write client application do I need libpq library and header files?
If yes where I would get libpq library and header files.
Libpq is included in the full PostgreSQL source code. You can use just libpq without the rest of PostgreSQL, but must download the full package.
You can download it from the PostgreSQL Downloads page.
Once you extract the full package it is inside src\interfaces\libpq.
The PostgreSQL installation guide details how to install only the client libraries in the Installation section, under Client-only installation.
Libpq documentation is also available.
In postgresql sources, src\interfaces\libpq.
And yes, it is possible to compile only the libpq.

I was also facing this issue but didn't got a clear answer:
This issue clearly states that while installing diesel-cli system is not able to locate libpq.lib
First of all you should have a Postgres installed on your machine.
Also diesel require visual c++, thus download and install it if not already, the size of setup will be ~5gb.
Once above installations are done you need to setup environment variables:
In my case path of Postgres installation is C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL thus add 2 environment variable path under User variables add new in Path where your libpq.lib is located in my case it is available in both C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\12\lib and C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\12\bin
Once this is added create one more environment variable PQ_LIB_DIR and set path as shown below
Note: Once done re-trigger the installation command in a new cmd window

C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\11\lib
There you find libpq.lib. Provide this directory to Linker input.
Don't forget to include C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\11\include directory for include directories.
I fix this problem reccently. This is a solution if you don't want to install Postgres in you windows.
At first, you need download Postgres Binaries. The version I download is 13.6, but it's seems like any version is fine.
Unzip the zip file.Copy libpq.lib from pgsql\lib to shomewhere like C:\Program Files\Postgres\lib.
Execute the following command in cmd window.
setx PQ_LIB_DIR "{where_you_copy_to}"
Open a new cmd windows and install diesel_cli
cargo install diesel_cli --no-default-features --features postgres
In linux vertify you get the libpq.
