Cannot find anything online about log shipping in postgreSQL.
My goal is to efficiently collect system logs from my postgres instance and ship it to a remote server (In my case clickhouse), to be analyzed and queried.
This is my config for the logs (but it can be changed):

(I am using postgres 13)
So at the moment the setup creates csv files which will be transformed into a table which I can query.
So my first thinking would be to just add postgres data source to grafana and query the system logs directly at intervals.
But in my mind it does not sound that efficient (maybe it is just my thinking), I would prefer not querying the database directly, but instead get the data from the file system and ship it.
For the latter I could not find any "ready made" solution, ideally would be a sidecar container/process which would periodically get the files and push it somewhere (to clickhouse in this case).
How can I achieve this? Thanks
I'm trying to add 2 settings to my postgresql.conf file (on a CentOS Greenplum Postgres 9.4 instance) and I'm getting this message back:
log_destination"": setting is ignored because it is defunct
log_line_prefix"": setting is ignored because it is defunct
What does it mean?
This is the section where these settings are:

Greenplum does its own logging and does not use those 2 settings. All of the logging goes to the master data directory for the master and segment data directories on the segments. That is expected behavior and currently can't be changed.
cd $MASTER_DATA_DIRECTY/pg_log/
and on segments
cd /data/primary/gpseg*/pg_log/
I was trying to trace the slow queries. I'm new to Pg9.6.
I could not find the /pg_log/ folder in the new version. It was available in /data/pg_log/ in older versions(I was using 9.2)..

When logging_collector is enabled, this parameter determines the
directory in which log files will be created. It can be specified as
an absolute path, or relative to the cluster data directory. This
parameter can only be set in the postgresql.conf file or on the server
command line. The default is pg_log.
You could also want to check all not default values with
select name,setting from pg_settings where source <>'default' and name like 'log%';
I am trying to run connect to a MSSQL server from a RHEL 5.5 server with FreeTDS and unixODBC.
Using tsql i can connect to the server with
tsql -S mssqltest -U <username> -P <password>
It's getting connected successfully
isql -v mssqltest 'username' 'password' -b -q
Also connects without any problem
But in perl I get a error message as follows

I have been googling for more than 2 hours, but I am really stuck with this one.
I want PostgreSQL (I am using version 8.4 on Debian) to start logging slow queries only.
To that extend I use the following configuration in postgresql.conf:
log_destination = 'csvlog'
logging_collector = on
log_min_messages = log
log_min_duration_statement = 1000
log_duration = on
log_line_prefix = '%t '
log_statement = 'all'
The rest of the configuration is all on default settings (commented out). The logging works, but it logs all statements, even the ones below the threshold of 1000 (ms). If I do a 'show all' I see that all settings are in effect. I also tried restarting Postgres.
I hope someone can help me out.
log_statement = 'all'
instructs the server to log all statements, simple as that.
In addition:
log_duration = on
also instructs the server to log all statements, including duration info.
Change that to:
log_statement = none
log_duration = off
No quotes needed. Or comment them out and reload.
Then no statement will logged, except those running longer than 1000 ms - instructed by:
log_min_duration_statement = 1000
It's all in the excellent manual.
Should be:
