Good morning.
In a markdown file, is it possible to remove the title icons (#, ##, ###, ####) in the sidebar?
They are really annoying. Spaces are enough to indicate the level of text.
Thank you.

As of v1.61.1, this is not possible.
However, there is an open issue about this on VS Code's official GitHub:
https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/53992
There are proposals for a solution already. Maybe someone might pick this up and implement a configuration option for it.

I use VSCode and I think its a great editor, but when I write a comment in html it drops to a new line under what I'm commenting which is really irritating.
If I comment a closing div I want it next to the closing div not under it.
I have uninstalled prettier but that made no difference.
Is what I want even possible in VSCode?
Any advise would be appreciated because I am so irritated that I am considering using a different editor (I'm on a Mac just in case it matters).
Thanks in advance.
This was a problem for me too, as were other new line / white space related HTML issues.
Assuming you are not using any formatters besides the native VSCode HTML language features (you said you uninstalled prettier, but you didn't mention whether you were using something else),
there is a setting HTML white space which you can set to preserve to leave your comments untouched.
Note that you may need to go into settings and check what is being used as the HTML default formatter
I'd like to change my VSCode status bar's icons order but I don't know how to do it.
I saw only one solution but it was outdated and it didn't work.
Thanks!
Welcome to StackOverflow.
Short of creating your own VS Code extension, there isn't a easy solution to this problem yet. This is, however, a work-in-progress feature which you can track here.
I hope this helps :)
I just trying to switch my editor from NetBeans to VSCode, however there is one feature which i missed from NetBeans and seem not exist at VSCode. I am not sure what is the name of the feature, i just call it "Scope mark line". The detail is like picture attached.
My question is, is there any plugins can bring that feature to VSCode? Please let me know if any, thanks in advance.
I also had a hard time searching for this feature, and found this VS Code Extension on the Marketplace: guides which adds various indentation guide lines. This worked for me editing ruby and bash files on osx.
Some of the tags for the extension:
guides indentation indentation guides ruler
From Default indent line guide in Visual Code?
Enable in settings.json:
"editor.renderIndentGuides": true
Is it possible to drag selected text to move it? This is in almost every other editor (not to mention text input fields in browsers.) I was surprised not to find it in VS Code.
Here is a gif example.
This is now supported as of Feb 2017 release (1.10.1) but it is disabled by default.
To enable it: Go to File > Preferences > Settings and add this line "editor.dragAndDrop": true
Source: https://code.visualstudio.com/updates/v1_10#_preview-drag-and-drop-selected-text
Looks like it's not yet implemented, but there's an open issue about it.
If you want to help without diving into the internals, go 👍 the issue to add to its social signal.
I don't believe so. Their site says that it is keyboard-optimized and keyboard-centric, so their idea might be that you should highlight some text, cut it, and past it where you want it rather than dragging it.
I talk about this problem on Github Microsoft page and Microsoft engineers see this. I hope to solve it. (Please support by 👍 on this page.)
I'm not sure if this is a good place for this question, but I did see a similar question posted here on overflow.
I'm just getting started with Eclipse as an IDE and having difficulty finding a comments toggle. I'd like to completely hide them sometimes. I've seen suggestions that would allow me to collapse entire comment blocks to a single line, but I'd want to hide ALL comments (single lines, blocks, etc) like in visual studio as a comparison. The goal is to gain the screen space to see more actual code simultaneously.
Anyone know of a way, plugin or otherwise?
Thanks!
This might be a bad way of doing it but you could set the syntax highlight for comments to be the same as your background color.
