Why is this empty? - postgresql

Please does anyone know why this:
SELECT to_tsvector('an');
returns nothing but
SELECT to_tsvector('nn');
or
SELECT to_tsvector('n');
or
SELECT to_tsvector('aa');
do?
I am testing this on PostgreSQL 13 running on SUPABASE.

Because "an" is a stop word in your current setup (probably English, the default).
From the documentation
The to_tsvector function internally calls a parser which breaks the document text into tokens and assigns a type to each token. For each token, a list of dictionaries (Section 12.6) is consulted, where the list can vary depending on the token type.
And (emphasis mine)...
Some words are recognized as stop words (Section 12.6.1), which causes them to be ignored since they occur too frequently to be useful in searching.

how do duckduckgo spice IA secondary API calls get their parameters?

I have been looking through the spice instant answer source code. Yes, I know it is in maintenance mode, but I am still curious.
The documentation makes it fairly clear that the primary spice to API gets its numerical parameters $1, $2, etc. from the handle function.
My question: should there be secondary API calls included with spice alt_to as, say, in the movie spice IA, where do the numerical parameters to that API call come from?
Note, for instance, the $1 in both the movie_image and cast_image secondary API calls in spice alt_to at the preceding link. I am asking which regex capture returns those instances of $1.
I believe I see how this works now. The flow of information is still a bit murky to me, but at least I see how all of the requisite information is there.
I'll take the cryptocurrency instant answer as an example. The alt_to element in the perl package file at that link has a key named cryptonator. The corresponding .js file constructs a matching endpoint:

Note the general shape of the "remainder" past /js/spice/cryptonator: from/to, where from and to will be two strings.
Back in the perl package the hash alt_to->{cryptonator} has a key from which receives, I think, this remainder from/to. The value corresponding to that key is a regex meant to split up that string into its two constituents:
from => '([^/]+)/([^/]*)'
Applied to from/to, that regex will return $1=from and $2=to. These, then, are the $1 and $2 that go into
to => 'https://api.cryptonator.com/api/full/$1-$2'
in alt_to.
In short:
The to field of alt_to->{blah} receives its numerical parameters by having the from regex operate on the remainder past /js/spice/blah/ of the name of the corresponding endpoint constructed in the relevant .js file.

How to use Postgresql ts_delete function

I am trying to use Postgresql Full Text Search. I read that the stop words (words ignored for indexing) are implemented via dictionary. But I would like to give the user a limited control over the stop words (insert new ones), so I grouped then in a table.
From the example below:
select strip(to_tsvector('simple', texto)) from longtxts where id = 23;
I can get the vector:
{'alta' 'aluno' 'cada' 'do' 'em' 'leia' 'livro' 'pedir' 'que' 'trecho' 'um' 'voz'}
And now I would like to remove the elements from the stopwords table:
select array(select palavra_proibida from stopwords);
That returns the array:
{a,as,ao,aos,com,default,e,eu,o,os,da,das,de,do,dos,em,lhe,na,nao,nas,no,nos,ou,por,para,pra,que,sem,se,um,uma}
Then, following documentation:
ts_delete(vector tsvector, lexemes text[]) tsvector remove any occurrence of lexemes in lexemes from vector ts_delete('fat:2,4 cat:3 rat:5A'::tsvector, ARRAY['fat','rat'])
I tried a lot. For example:
select ts_delete((select strip(to_tsvector('simple', texto)) from longtxts where id = 23), array[(select palavra_proibida from stopwords)]);
But I always receive the error:
ERROR: function ts_delete(tsvector, character varying[]) does not exist
LINE 1: select ts_delete((select strip(to_tsvector('simple', texto))...

ts_delete was introduced in PostgreSQL 9.6. Based on the error message, you're using an earlier version. You may try select version(); to be sure.
When you land on the PostgreSQL online documentation with a web search, it may correspond to any version. The version is in the URL and there's a "This page in another version" set of links at the top of each page to help switching to the equivalent doc for a different version.

Using "is null" when retrieving prices doesn't work

I am trying to get the price items for performance block storage that are generic (not specific to a certain datacenter). I can see that these have the locationGroupId set to blank or null, but I can't seem to get the objectFilter to work with that, the query returns nothing. If I omit the locationGroupId filter I get a result that contain both location-specific and non-location specific prices.

I am guessing there is something wrong with the object filter, any ideas?
If I filter on locationGroupId 509 it works:

The reason it the first query didn't work while the second did was that I used the command "curl -sg" to do the request. While that eliminates the need to escape the {}[] characters - it also turns off escaping other characters correctly in the URL - like the space in "is null". Changing that to "is%20null" solves the issue.
I am posting this as the answer as I find it likely for others to encounter this problem.

Erlang mnesia equivalent of "select * from Tb"

I'm a total erlang noob and I just want to see what's in a particular table I have. I want to just "select *" from a particular table to start with. The examples I'm seeing, such as the official documentation, all have column restrictions which I don't really want. I don't really know how to form the MatchHead or Guard to match anything (aka "*").
A very simple primer on how to just get everything out of a table would be very appreciated!
For example, you can use qlc:

The simplest way to do it is probably mnesia:dirty_match_object:
mnesia:dirty_match_object(foo, #foo{_ = '_'}).
That is, match everything in the table foo that is a foo record, regardless of the values of the fields (every field is '_', i.e. wildcard). Note that since it uses record construction syntax, it will only work in a module where you have included the record definition, or in the shell after evaluating rr(my_module) to make the record definition available.
(I expected mnesia:dirty_match_object(foo, '_') to work, but that fails with a bad_type error.)
To do it with select, call it like this:
mnesia:dirty_select(foo, [{'_', [], ['$_']}]).
Here, MatchHead is _, i.e. match anything. The guards are [], an empty list, i.e. no extra limitations. The result spec is ['$_'], i.e. return the entire record. For more information about match specs, see the match specifications chapter of the ERTS user guide.
If an expression is too deep and gets printed with ... in the shell, you can ask the shell to print the entire thing by evaluating rp(EXPRESSION). EXPRESSION can either be the function call once again, or v(-1) for the value returned by the previous expression, or v(42) for the value returned by the expression preceded by the shell prompt 42>.

TermQuery not returning on a known search term, but WildcardQuery does

Am hoping someone with enough insight into the inner workings of Lucene might be able to point me in the right direction =)
I'll skip most of the surrounding irellevant code, and cut right to the chase. I have a Lucene index, to which I am adding the following field to the index (variables replaced by their literal values):

Later, when I search my index (using other types of queries), I am able to verify that this field does indeed appear in my index - like when looping through all Fields returned by Document.GetFields()

So far so good :-)
Now the real problem is - why can I not use a TermQuery to search against this value and actually get a result.
This code produces 0 hits:

I've checked field lengths, I've checked that I am using the same Analyzer and so on and I am still on square 1 as to why this is.
Can anyone point me in a direction I should be looking?
I finally figured out what was going on. I'm expanding the tags for this question as it, much to my surprise, actually turned out to be an issue with the CMS this particular problem exists in. In summary, the problem came down to this:
The field is stored UN_TOKENIZED, meaning Lucene will store it excactly "as-is"
The BooleanQuery I pasted snippets from gets sent to the Sitecore SearchManager inside a PreparedQuery wrapper
The behaviour I expected from this was, that my query (having already been prepared) would go - unaltered - to the Lucene API
Turns out I was wrong. It passes through a RewriteQuery method that copies my entire set of nested queries as-is, with one exception - all the Term arguments are passed through a LowercaseStrategy()
As I indexed an UPPERCASE Term (UN_TOKENIZED), and Sitecore changes my PreparedQuery to lowercase - 0 results are returned
Am not going to start an argument of whether this is "by design" or "by design flaw" implementation of the Lucene Wrapper API - I'll just note that rewriting my query when using the PreparedQuery overload is... to me... unexpected ;-)
Further teachings from this; storing the field as TOKENIZED will eliminate this problem too, as the StandardAnalyzer by default will lowercase all tokens.
