I just finished a new service for creating pdf export which contains parts with html strings (two cells in a table), so I had to use pdfHTML. My code part:
FontProvider fontProvider = new DefaultFontProvider(true, true, true);
ConverterProperties properties = new ConverterProperties();
properties.setCharset("UTF-8");
properties.setFontProvider(fontProvider);
InputStream isStav = new ByteArrayInputStream((pdfData.get().getStav() == null ? "" : pdfData.get().getStav()).getBytes());
List<IElement> elements =
HtmlConverter.convertToElements(isStav, properties);
Everything worked perfectly on my local machine, but the setCharset("UTF-8") part gets ignored, when I deploy my project to a Wildfly server (hosted on microsoft windows server 2016).
the result when I download a pdf looks like this:
"Nemali by však zásadne prekáa? v testovaní.".
How can I set the charSet correctly on the server? Is it servers fault, or should I change something in my code?
As a default font I use PdfFont, but I could't pass it to FontProvider:
PdfFont fNormal = PdfFontFactory.createFont(StandardFonts.HELVETICA, "CP1250");
Thank you.

Im using visual studio 2010 + Sql Server 2008.
Im trying to show my reports using CR.. well when i try to use the system in my local machine, everything is ok.
I use store procedures to create reports.
The issue appears when i deploy the system in another PC.. A message appears asking for:
Server: // RETRIEVES ORIGINAL Server(Local)// Its not Correct i need to get Client Server
Database: // RETRIEVES ORIGINAL DB(Local)// Its not Correct i need to get Client DB
Username: I don't use any user , what user ?
Password: I don't use any password, what password?
i saw another solutions, but i can't find what's the data that i must use in Username or password. i use Windows autenthication to login to sql..
Thanks.
Regards.
Edit.. that's my code.. i can't use parameters, i don't receive any error. but system dont recognize the parameter that i send...

It appears that you have separate servers and databases between the development and production environment. You need to make sure when you deploy your VS solution that the production server and database get referenced, not the development server and database.
There are some tutorials out there that can help you find a way to achieve this. Check out:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd193254(v=vs.100).aspx
Visual Studio 2010 Database Project Deploy to Different Environments

EDIT: This seems to have evolved into a different issue than originally stated in the question. To dynamically get the connection string for CR from the text file, you will have to read teh text file first and put server name and database name into variables. Reading a text file, you can use something like string text = File.ReadAllText(#"C:\Folder\File.txt"); but you will need to extract server name and database name into variables. Then in order to use the variables in your connection string you use ConnectionInfo.Servername = variable1; and ConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = variable2.
Using SSJS I've successfully created a PDF using the simple HTML parser that comes with iText but the simple HTML parser doesn't respect CSS and is very limited. I downloaded the XMLWorker class from the iText site and have tried to use that instead but my knowledge of working out how to call Java packages is too limited. All the examples I can find use Java and refer to the classes directly, eg.
Document newPDF = new Document();
But in SSJS we have to use dot notation, eg.
var newPDF:com.itextpdf.text.Document = new com.itextpdf.text.Document();
This - I think - is where I stumble. My code looks like this:
function createLPO2(pReqDoc:NotesDocument) {
importPackage(com.itextpdf);
//importPackage(com.itextpdf.tool.xml.XMLWorkerHelper);
importPackage(java.io);
var con = facesContext.getExternalContext();
var response:com.ibm.xsp.webapp.XspHttpServletResponse = con.getResponse();
response.setContentType("application/pdf");
response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
response.setDateHeader("Expires", -1);
response.setHeader("Content-Disposition","attachment; filename=\"LPO_" + pReqDoc.getItemValueString("RequisitionNo") + ".pdf\"");
var newPDF:com.itextpdf.text.Document = new com.itextpdf.text.Document();
var writer = com.itextpdf.text.pdf.PdfWriter.getInstance(newPDF,response.getOutputStream());
var xmlWorkerHelper = com.itextpdf.tool.xml.XMLWorkerHelper.getInstance();
var strHTML = getTestHTML(); //this is the HTML used in the examples on the iText site
xmlWorkerHelper.parseXHtml(writer, newPDF, new java.io.StringReader(strHTML));
newPDF.close();
writer.close();
facesContext.responseComplete();
}
If I run this script as it is I get a script error on the Domino console. If I remove the comment on the line importPackage(com.itextpdf.tool.xml.XMLWorkerHelper); it gives a completely different error. I suspect I have to import the XMLWorkerHelper package and not just the com.itextpdf package. I thought if I opened the jar file using a tool like 7-zip I could work out the path, which is how I arrived at com.itextpdf.tool.xml.XMLWorkerHelper
Is this right? If so, why does my script fail?
Rob,
seriously, don't try to do that in SSJS. iText is all Java, if you try to mangle with it in a different language it will stress you out. Create a wrapper class that has a method that takes an OutputStream and whatever data (Document, View etc) you need. Obtain the OutputStream in your SSJS and call the function. Look for the XAgent XSnippet on OpenNTF and my blog series (the last two are missing - bear with me) on PDF creation.
One word of caution: iText is GPL, so you either GPL your software too, buy a commercial iText license or look for alternatives like Apache PDFBox or Apache FOP. Ah the second caution: HTML to PDF is a Pita. You could look at a commercial tool like e.g. from Swing software (or change your approach)
I have SQL Server 2008 with SSRS installed on one server and SQL Server 2008 R2 with SSRS installed on a new server. I want to migrate 200+ reports as well as a few shared schedules and a couple data sources from the first server to the second one using the SSRS web service API. For simplicity sake since there are only a couple of shared data sources I went ahead and created those using the Report Manager interface.
Unfortunately, those who came before me embedded the data source information in each report (connection string, login, password, etc). I thought this would be a great time to change these to point to the shared data source so this would not have to be done for each report, one by one. I can create the reports on the new server just fine using CreateCatalogItem but I can't seem to determine how to properly go about changing from an embedded data source to a shared data source.
So far I have tried both SetItemReferences:
itemRef.Reference = "/Data Sources/TMS";
itemRef.Name = "TMS";
itemRef.Reference = "/Data Sources/TMS";
rs2010.SetItemReferences(catItem.Path, new ReportService2010.ItemReference[] { itemRef });
and SetItemDataSources:
ReportService2010.DataSourceReference dataSourceRef = new ReportService2010.DataSourceReference();
dataSourceRef.Reference = "/Data Sources/TMS";
ReportService2010.DataSource dataSource = new ReportService2010.DataSource();
dataSource.Name = "TMS";
dataSource.Item = dataSourceRef;
rs2010.SetItemDataSources(catItem.Path, new ReportService2010.DataSource[] { dataSource });
Both methods result in a "NotFoundException" when attempted on a report with an embedded data source but they both work just fine on reports that are already pointing to a shared data source.
Furthermore, I have searched all over Google as well as StackOverflow for a solution but have found nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?
So I kept working with the SetItemReferences method and had a brilliant idea that ended up working. The final code I used is below:
List<ReportService2010.ItemReference> itemRefs = new List<ReportService2010.ItemReference>();
ReportService2010.DataSource[] itemDataSources = rs2010.GetItemDataSources(catItem.Path);
foreach (ReportService2010.DataSource itemDataSource in itemDataSources)
{
ReportService2010.ItemReference itemRef = new ReportService2010.ItemReference();
itemRef.Name = itemDataSource.Name;
itemRef.Reference = "/Data Sources/TMS";
itemRefs.Add(itemRef);
}
rs2010.SetItemReferences(catItem.Path, itemRefs.ToArray());
The problem was that I was not using the same DataSource name as what was found in the report .rdl file. I was able to determine what the name should be using the GetItemDataSources method. Since this method returns an array and may have more than one item in said array, I looped through it to create multiple ItemReferences if more than one existed though I doubt that happens very often if at all.
I am using iTextSharp dll version 4.1.2.0 for pdf merging.But it is causing some pages blank in the final merged pdf. but this issue is not present in its latest dll.
I am using .net framework 1.1 , so i can't use latest dll cause it doesn't support.
So,Please give suggestion what should i do for this.
Thanks
Yes, I have got the solutions like "if we will use latest dll then it is ok, no problem but what if we are using a dll that supports .net framework 1.1 that might be before the latest dll.
The problem in my case are some pdfs are corrupted and not able to parse correctly, that's why it is throwing an exception as "Attempt to Read Past the End of The Stream" .And i found in web that is some pdfs having some more characters after EOF Marker then it is the problem .So,we have to just remove all the characters from the file and test in the newly created pdf file. It has worked for me.
public void RemoveExtraBytes(string ofilepath,nfilepath)
{
string oldfilePath =ofilepath;
string newFilePath="nfilepath";
WebClient client = new WebClient();
byte[] buffer = client.DownloadData(filePath);
string str;
int position = 0;
str = ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetString(buffer);
if (str.Contains("%%EOF"))
{
position = str.LastIndexOf("%%EOF");
}
Stream stream = new System.IO.FileStream(newfilepath, FileMode.Create);
stream.Write(buffer, 0, position);
stream.Close();
}
I need to work in .net 2.0. So I can't use OpenXML.
This is my source code and I have already Installed AccessDatabaseEngine.exe.
But still getting the exception:
"Could not find installable ISAM".
I have also tried "Extended Properties=Excel 8.0" in the connection string.
static void Main(string[] args)
{
DataSet dataSet = new DataSet();
OleDbConnection connection = new OleDbConnection(#"Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=|Data Directory|\HSC.xlsx;Extended Properties=Excel 12.0;HDR=YES;");
OleDbDataAdapter dataAdapter= new OleDbDataAdapter("select * from [Sheet1$]", connection);
dataAdapter.Fill(dataSet);
}
According to Carl Prothman, that should be
Extended Properties="Excel 12.0 Xml;
-- http://www.connectionstrings.com/excel-2007
In more detail:
OleDbConnection connection = new OleDbConnection(#"Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:\\Docs\\Book2.xlsx;Extended Properties='Excel 12.0 xml;HDR=YES;'");
Note the single quotes.
I prefer to use the Microsoft OpenXML 2.0 SDK for this kind of functionality. It has a really nice interface, and it does not put a demand on having Office installed on the machine reading the XLSX file which is a good thing.
I'm writing this from my mobile, so hard to provide a link, but a Google search should easily find it for you.
Give it a try. I think you will like it.
EDIT
If you have to use .NET 2.0, you can go for using the JET variant of the OleDb instead.
That means you will do something like this to connect:
OleDbConnection connection = new OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;" +
"Data Source='" + filename + "';" +
"Extended Properties=\"Excel 8.0;HDR=No;IMEX=1;\"";);
Then you can query it like in your example above:
OleDbDataAdapter objAdapter = new OleDbDataAdapter("select * from [Sheet1$]", connection);
Try it! Just note that Jet have some strange logic of deciding if a column is numeric or not. See the following SO questions for details: Problem with using OleDbDataAdapter to fetch data from a Excel sheet
You should make sure that the connection string looks like the following ( even if you are accessing microsoft excel version 10 ->
MyConnection = new System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection(#"Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;
Data Source='D:\csharp-Excel.xls';Extended Properties='Excel 12.0 Xml;HDR=Yes;'");
