What are these called on GitHub?
I am not looking for recommendations for books, tools, software or libraries, only to know what those represent.

Badges.
You find them on badges/shields, sources for shields.io
You will find even more with badges/awesome-badges.
As commented, they are not specific to GitHub, and services/gitlab/gitlab-pipeline-status.service.js, for instance, reflects the status of a GitLab pipeline.

In a 2013 blog post Github introduced task lists for Github-Flavored Markdown. I am looking for examples of this feature being used in the wild. Can you point me to any?

I'm working on a project and trying to figure out if FaceBook has a sitemap file.
Based off the research I've done, it looks like they used to have one at http://www.facebook.com/sitemap.php but that's not loading for me.
Does anyone know where it would be located at now?

I'm using osmdroid and I'm creating routes but completely offline.
I wanted to know if there's any plugin that identifies crossroads, etc or do I have to do that manually ?
Thanks.
Have a look at OSMbonusPack, might be helpful. http://code.google.com/p/osmbonuspack/

Does anyone managed to add some nice code highlighting for the wiki and blog software that comes with the Apple Wiki Server? I found a discussion on the topic, however, without further success stories. SyntaxHighlighter by Alex Gorbatchev as mentioned in the aforementioned thread would be really nice to have.
