Error in adding new object to Data Model diagram - enterprise-architect

I am unable to drag in new elements (e.g. sql table, view, query, database connection...) into my UML diagram for sparks EA. I was able to do this until the other day & get the following error:
It seems like something to do with the session id or something..?
Also noticed that a lot of the logos are now the same grey "<>" , when before they were all different

MS Access 2016: how to enter a concatenated field into a table from a form

TblEmployees has Fname, Lname and EmployeeName fields. EmployeeName should be Fname + Lname (i.e. John Doe). I want to enter Fname and Lname in a form FrmEmployeeData, and update TblEmployees with Fname, Lname and EmployeeName.
If FrmEmployeeData has as Data Source TblEmployees, how do I get the concatenated [Fname]&" "&[Lname] into the EmployeeName field of the table?
I also tried changing the DataSource of FrmEmployeeData to a query QryConcatenateFname&Lname where EmployeeName:[Fname]&" "&[Lname]. This gave the correct "John Doe" in the query result but I could not get it to update the TblEmployees.
What am I doing wrong? Thx.
It looks like you are learning access as this question is really too simple for stack overflow. Instead consult an Access book at your library or start finding Youtube vidoes and tutorials on the internet. Having said that here is a start:
Access gives you the ability to add a calculated field to a table in the design tab by treating it as a DataType. You can also add lookups and some data validation. Never do any of that!! Use forms to enter and search the data, and use reports to print the data.
A simple yet quite incomplete explanation is that as your database expands into multiple related tables you will find that entering the data directly into the tables is error prone for the database designer yet alone the clients. Because any observation will be distributed across multiple tables it becomes easier and easier to forget one or make a mistake as you add more and more tables.
Access is designed for quickly making simple forms for the tables in your database. If your relationships are already entered using the Relationships tool Access even generates starter forms that handle 1 to many relationships. Just click on a table and under home then forms group on the ribbon choose either form or form wizard and start playing with your new forms properties:
if you don't see the properties (hit f4 in most cases). Seriously every control has properties you can play with. In particular look at the control sources and for the form itself (hit the top left corner to select the form) check out the default view property.
I happened to include EmployeeName as a string in tblEmployees but there was no need other than having access put the EmployeeName textbox on the form. I would have to go back and delete EmployeeName from the table which is about the same effort as adding the textbox to the form myself. Below I show how to set the control source for EmployeeName to the usual FullName calculation

Access forms by default have both data entry and search capabilities. Play with the record selector highlighted at the bottom of the beautified form below. You can edit any record you see and the changes will appear in the table. If you go past the last record you can add a new record.

Can I display custom tags of columns in a database diagram?

I am trying to use database diagrams in Sparx EA to collect and communicate information about how we are using tables.
I want to add information to columns and have this information show up in a diagram.
For example, the first thing I want to do is note which columns are required in a given application.
I have used the reverse-engineering to import all the many tables into my Sparx project.
It looks like I can extend column information with Tags at least.
But I can't find a way to show my custom tags in a diagram, such as a basic database diagram with tables.
Is there a way to visualize custom tag information for columns in a diagram?
What seems like the most direct example would be such as the following, where a custom "usage" Tag appears after the column name and data type ...
I welcome other options such as conditionally changing the color or font or something based on the Tag,
if adding the Tag name & value is not possible.

Visualizing data model using data Studio 4.1

I want to generate ER - Diagram for existing database. I created .dbm file but in diagram I see only table names all in a row. I am not able to see columns and relationship between tables.
How can i see ER- diagram.
I got answer in data studio forum.
Columns can be displayed by changing the properties view. Click a blank area of the diagram and in the filtering tab of the properties and change the display options. To see relationship right click on blank space and click on show implicit relationships.

Silverlight WCF RIA Service select from SQL View vs SQL Table

I have arrived at this dilemma via a tortuous and frustrating route, but I'll start with where I am right now. For information I'm using VS2010, Silverlight 5 and the latest versions of the Silverlight and RIA Toolkits, SDKs etc.
I have a view in my database (it's actually now an indexed view, but that has made no difference to the behaviour). For testing purposes (and that includes testing my sanity) I have duplicated the view as a Table (ie identical column names and definitions), and inserted all the view rows into the table. So if I SELECT * from the view or the table in Query Analyzer, I get identical results. So far so good.
I create an EDF model in my Silverlight Business Application web project, including all objects.
I create a Domain Service based on the model, and it creates ContextTypes and metadata for both the View and the Table, and associated Query objects.
If I populate a Silverlight ListBox in my Silverlight project via the Table Query, it returns all the data in the table.
If I populate the same ListBox via the View Query, it returns one row only, always the first row in the collection, however it is ordered. In fact, if I delve into the inner workings via the debugger, when it executes the ObjectContext Query in the service, it returns a result set of the correct number of rows, but all the rows are identical! If I order ascending I get n copies of the first row, descending I get n copies of the last row.
Can anyone put me out of my misery here, and tell me why the View doesn't work?

OK, well that was predictable - nearly every time I ask a question on a forum I stumble across the answer while I'm waiting for responses to flood in!
Despite having been through the metadata and model.designer files and made sure that all "view" and "table" class/method definitions etc were identical, it was still showing the exasperating difference in behaviour between view and table queries. So the problem just had to be caused by the database, right?
Sure enough, I hadn't noticed myself creating NOT NULL columns when I created the "identical" Table version of my view! Even though I was using a SELECT NEWID() to create a unique key column on the view, the database insisted that the ID column in the view was NULLABLE, and it was apparently this which was causing the problem.
To save some storage space I switched from using NEWID() to using ROW_NUMBER() to create my key column, but still had the "NULLABLE" property problem. SO I then changed it to
SELECT ISNULL(ROW_NUMBER() (OVER...) , -1)
for the ID column, and at last the column in the view was created NOT NULL! Even though neither NEWID() nor ROW_NUMBER() can ever generate NULL output, it seems you have to hold SQL Server's hand and reassure it by using the ISNULL operator before it will believe itself.
Having done this, deleted/recreated my model and service files, everything burst into glorious technicolour life without any manual additions of [Key()] properties or anything else. The problem had been with the database all along, and NOT with the Model/Service/Metadata definitions.
Hope this saves someone some time. Now all I need to do is work out why the original stored procedure method I started with two days ago doesn't work - but at least I now have a hint!

SqlDataAdapter Update

Can any one help me why this error occurs when i update using sqlDataadapter with join query
Dynamic SQL generation is not supported against multiple base tables.
You have a "join" in your main query for your dataset (The first one in the TableAdapter with a check by it). You can't automatically generate insert/update/delete logic for a TableAdapter when the main query has multiple tables referenced in the query via a join. The designer isn't smart enough to figure out which table you want to send updates to in that case, that is why you get the error message.
Solution. Ensure that your main query only references the table you want the designer to write insert/update/delete code for. Your secondary queries may reference as many tables as you want.
It was in the case that i was trying to set value for identity column in my datarow. Simply i deleted the code to set value for identity column and it will work.
My Scenario:
Database:
uin [primary, identity]
name
address
Whenever i tried to set the datarow("uin") the error occurs. But works fine with datarow("name") and datarow("address").
