After latest update of IntelliJ, JPA Buddy missing from right title bar which usually placed under Maven section.

To see the JPA Buddy tool windows you need:
Make sure you have hibernate-core, EclipseLink or Spring Data JPA dependency: https://www.jpa-buddy.com/documentation/#dependencies. Also make sure it is correct and reimport dependencies.
Make sure you haven't enabled the minimalistic mode: https://www.jpa-buddy.com/documentation/minimalistic-mode/#enabling-minimalistic-mode
After the major IntelliJ IDEA update, make sure you updated JPA Buddy and restarted an IDE.

The problem was in the installation, I hadn't included the right hibernate version and also hadn't updated since I added .

After restarting Eclipse, I get the following error in my project:
This project has the JPA facet, but no JPA project could be created. See the error log for more details.
Nothing I've done (clean project, maven update, etc) will get rid of the error. My JPA Content icon remains greyed out.
It looks like this was a resolved bug at Eclipse bugs...but then why am I still getting it? Should I submit a bug report to Eclipse?
This is a configuration problem of the project. To solve this problem go to the project properties, and in the node "project facets" unchecked JPA and apply the changes. Now you can checked JPA and apply again!
For me all the above didnt worked.
So I tried Project Properties>Validate. It solved my problem.
To get rid of this error in Eclipse Luna, I just did a right-click on the project and chose the "Validate" menu item.

Uncheck JPA and accept
Right click in the project, go for Validate

Although this is an old thread, will try to give info that might just help someone.
I assume you have imported a project and it is giving this error.
Step 1 : Check under project properties if jpa is configured.
Step 2 : I have used eclipseLink as the user library for jpa. If you are using eclipse as well, try installing the plugin.
Step 3 : Check the version of jpa under project properties-> project facets... check for any conflicts in version, usually seen for java version and or any supporting libs. You should be able to change the version from facets.

Step 4 : once JPA is configured for the project, clean and check. This should work.
I had the same problem and resolved it by installing both apt and jdt connectors for m2e.
Go to Window > Preferences > Maven > Discovery > Open Catalog. Look for m2e-apt and m2e-jdt-compiler. Install and then restart eclipse.
Click right button on your project-->properties-->validation-->uncheck JPA Validation .
That works for me!
Looks like the problem is in some cases caused by a missing JPA implementation in the classpath. After I added a Maven (test scope) dependency, the Eclipse error message disappeared:

I this special case I had a "war" project that has a "persistence.xml" but no JPA code itself. The JPA stuff is in the referenced libraries (JARs).
For me, it was enough to clean the project.
Trying to disable JPA in the facet window caused an Exception.
Like kaushikjain said, validate your project and the error will disappear. This worked like a charm to me.
Right click in your project and Validate.
If you do not want to use JPA,
simply restart your eclipse and clean the project.
I had same problem when I copied JPA Entity to non-JPA project.
It worked for me and I hope it does so for yours :)
If I try to activate the "JPA Facet" for my Eclipse (Juno) project and point it to a user library containing the JPA libraries (in my case OpenJPA) I get the error:
"The class 'javax.persistence.Entity' is required to be in the selected libraries."
But this class is present there!
"Solution": The JPA libraries were contained in an Eclipse project folder. If I copy it somewhere outside and create another user library with them it works perfectly (although it has exactly the same content as the one before with the libraries located in the Eclipse project!). Seems like an Eclipse bug...
Just create a user library that contains the javax.persistence... JAR in it (It is located in Eclipse/plugins) and add this library at "JPA Implementation"
I'm using Spring Tool Suite (STS). The problem I was facing is that in the default installation the M2E-WTP plugin does not include the Optional component "m2e-wtp - JPA Configurator for WTP".
So I went to Help -> Eclipse Marketplace... and searched "m2e-wtp".
Click on the Installed button and it will become Change. Click on the Change button and select the optional component "m2e-wtp - JPA Configurator for WTP". Apply changes.

How I can setup Hibernate for a Dynamic Web application by using Eclipse Helios? I am a newbe so please let me know if there is any example.
I tried for Java application and included all JARS and it worked fine. But don't understand how I can do it for Web application and test it.
I will use Struts2 so I will appreciate if I can get appropriate example or guidance.
Drop the jars in WEB-INF/lib. Those jars are automatically added by Eclipse to the project build path, and constitute (with the WEB-INF/classes directory and the container classpath) the classpath of the webapp.

First, download Struts2, and import example WAR file into Eclipse. You can find it from the source folder: struts-2.3.1-all\struts-2.3.1\apps\struts2-blank.war
Second, you should install Eclipse Hibernate Plugin. Goto Window > Preferences > Install/Update > Available Software Sites and add following link and name it JBossTools or something.

Depending on your needs you can install Hibernate Plugins for many project types. In this case, select web application plugin.
And after, you should include Hibernate Core libraries into your classpath. I would recomment Hibernate 3.6 and greater. Because it does not depend on asm (asm-3.3.jar, asm-commons-3.3.jar ...) anymore. If you use earlier versions you might encounter some problems, since Struts2 also depend on asm libraries.
Then create your database, and use following link to configure and generate model bean classes.

I am struggling with the configuration of the Eclipse Dali plugin and Hibernate. The version I'm using is as recommended:
Eclipse 3.6.1 (Helios SR1) IDE for Java EE Developers (including Dali 2.3)
JBoss Tools 3.2 (for the Hibernate Tools plugin)
When configuring the Java Persistence properties for my project, I created a user library named "Hibernate JPA" and included the following JARs:

As long as the hibernate-distribution-3.6.1.Final folder is outside of my project directory, everything works fine. However, if I put the Hibernate folder into the project directory, I get an error saying "Required class org.hibernate.SessionFactory does not exist in selected libraries":
The error text is wrong, the required class is definitely included in hibernate3.jar, and everything works as expected when I move the JARs outside of my project directory.
I have two questions about that:
I do not understand why the User Library behaves differently depending on whether the JARs are placed inside or outside of my project directory. Could anybody explain what's happening here?
I would like to have my project in SVN, including all the required libraries. Is there any way to configure Dali to accept User Libraries within the project directory?

I was having the same problem cos I forgot to add hibernate-jpa-2.0-api-1.0.0.Final.jar.
The only difference is that I'm using 3.5.1-Final cos 3.6.x seems not stable at the moment.
Actually, I'd prefer EclipseLink: everything works fine as a charm. I've wasted many hours with environment configuration :( Last time I've used Hibernate was years ago and looks like troubles to configure still are the same :(
I want to create a web app that will use wicket, hibernate and spring frameworks. My IDE of choice is Eclipse, I am using maven for the .war generation and I am running Mac OS. What steps should I follow to correctly install and configure all the tools so as to have a project running that relies on these 3 frameworks. I was able to successfully set up wicket but I am having trouble for setting up hibernate and spring. I went through multiple tutorials but I still couldn't find the solution.

I will now try to explain a bit what is the problem I can't solve. I first began with a clean project:
mvn archetype:create -DgroupId=test.framework -DartifactId=microForum
Moved on to the project folder and mvn eclipse:eclipse
Imported the project from eclipse
Looked into the apache wicket homepage where there are multiple examples, so I read through the page and that was enough to learn what to add to the pom and had wicket and everything up and running nicely
My next step was trying to use hibernate and/or spring. I thought that "adding" hibernate and spring in the same way I added the wicket necessary configurations and dependencies to the pom (by hand) might not be that easy. So I tried using the maven archetype: appfuse-basic-spring. So:
mvn archetype:generate -> launchs the wizard that lets you choose among different archetypes
After choosing the archetype number 2 ( Hibernate + Spring + Spring MVC) it fails
After googling a bit I found out why it fails (something like I should add a -archetype after appfuse-basic-spring. So, instead of using the wizard, I put:
mvn archetype:generate -B -DarchetypeGroupId=org.appfuse.archetypes -DarchetypeArtifactId=appfuse-basic-spring*-archetype* -DarchetypeVersion=2.1.0-M1 -DgroupId=test.framework -DartifactId=microForum2
This created my project (after multiple warnings). I paste a screenshot (Image 1) because some of the information might have some important meaning :

I then did mvn eclipse:eclipse and it started downloading millions of things, which seemed very odd so I Control+C it.
Following schmimd04 answer I tried to use the eclipse maven plugin but I couldn't create a maven project:
Unable to create project from archetype [org.appfuse.archetypes:appfuse-basic-spring:RELEASE]
The defined artifact is not an archetype

p.d: My Mac OS already had maven installed (version 2.2.0), I tried downloading the last one and repeating the same steps but I still had the same trouble.
Bert's recommendation LegUp, jweekend.com/dev/LegUp, have worked just fine for me. I used the wicket + Spring + JPA archetype. I will still look for the reason why maven's Hibernate+Spring+Spring MVC archetype didn't work for me. I'll edit this once I have the answer. For the time being, legup did the job!

Install the Maven plugin for Eclipse from the update site: http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update.
This will allow you to create Maven projects (I would start with the quickstart archetype) and easily add dependencies, such as Hibernate, Spring, and Wicket.
As Pascal is saying, your question is to broad to answer. A few pointers that might help you:
use 'mvn eclipse:eclipse' to generate an Eclipse project out of your pom.xml. There might even be a working eclipse project that allows to open a pom.xml as eclipse project. I can't say, i left eclipse behind for good.
spring is 'just' a library that need to be in your classpath. the above command will ensure it is there (if it is defind as dependency in the pom.xml) You need to define a applicationContext.xml for Spring that resides in your classpath. See the Spring documentation for that.
hiberate is similar, it is just a library that needs to be in the classpath and that needs to find a config file. in there, the connection to the database is described. See the hibarnate docu (or one of the many blogs out there) for more info.
If you are stuck with a particular problem, please describe it so people can help here.

I don't know if it sounds odd. But it is because you have archtype data in your .metadata for respective workspace. If you delete the workspace. You can create new archtype. I know deleting worksapce is not a good idea. But still it works.
