When I create new service deployment using oggma 21c on windows server 2012 R2, there is an INS-85037 error, and it says:
Failed to import administrator user. Make sure the user does not already exist

I am using SQL Server 2012 and now I have installed SQL Server 2008 R2 on my machine. I have both SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012 running on my machine.
And I already have created an alias for SQL Server 2012 as 'serverhost\sql',
and now it I require to create an alias for SQL Server 2008 R2 with same name as 'serverhost\sql'.
And when I am trying to connect to database using serverhost\sql, user get connected to database but to SQL Server 2012 not SQL Server 2008 R2.
I don't know that: we are able to create alias with same name for 2 diff server instances on same machine.
Is It possible?
if yes then how would I achieve this?
I have been using this connection string with no problem on a number of databases and MS operating systems. Windows Server 2003, 2008 R2 and 2012 R2 Eval, all Express versions.
I am now trying to deploy to a new Windows Server 2012 R2 installation and I am getting some errors. I have the SQL Server 2008 R2 installation on the Windows Server 2012 R2 machine.
My con string:
connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\myDB.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=False" ProviderName="System.Data.SqlClient"
I think this must have something to do with the installation sequence of the components on the new server.
I have in the past been able to simply copy myDB.mdf to basically any web server and open or access the DB tables. This DB includes an ASP membership for the web site that it is tied to.
Here is the error:
CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. An attempt to
attach an auto-named database for file
C:\inetpub\techTran\App_Data\myDB.mdf failed. A database with
the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is
located on UNC share.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: CREATE
DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'.
I thought I understood what this error was. I have checked permissions and they match the other servers where this database has been deployed. My SQL Server installations are basically all the same. The only difference here is that this is Windows Server 2012 R2 on a VM. Or I did not install the SQL Server 2008 R2 the same way I have done in the past 5 servers I have set up. (Which I am guessing is probably the case.)
UPDATE: Uninstalled and reinstalled SQL Server and SSMS.
I know there is only one database name on the server called myDB.mdf, so I don't believe the "same name" portion of error. I have added security to the db so that it can be opened and I even installed Visual Studio 2012 on the server to be certain that the db could be opened. I can run the full app on the localhost (server 2012) but I can not access it over a web connection.
I believe the specific error message relating to
CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'
is the issue.
I have never seen this error before.
I typically assign NETWORK SERVICE account to the database to allow access and this is how this one is set up as well. I also thought this might be a connection string issue. But this same string has worked on 4 different servers now with no changes. Server 2003, 2008 R2, and 2012 (demo platform)(all Express versions), now in production this is failing.
The home page loads and then the login throws the above error.
Your connection string says AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\myDB.mdf. Well, your path must have changed in one place (SQL Server) and not the other (app configuration). AttachDbFilename will try to create a new DB if it can't find that file. That's probably your error.
As an aside, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2 all have differences, especially with security and in particular with how SQL Server behaves, but you keep using them interchangeably. That makes it very confusing to tell what's going on. Also, your connection string says Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS. Is this SQL Server Express? Because that has important differences with most other editions of SQL Server, too. More recent editions are very similar to Standard edition, but the older the edition, the more quirks it has. They're generally considered different beasts.
SOLVED: I am not sure how this happened or perhaps why it didn't happen. But for some reason the installation of SQL did not add the NETWORK SERVICE account to the sysadmin Server Role. I cross referenced this with the SERVER 2003 installation where SQL 2008 R2 is also running, and discovered that the sysadmin SQL Server Role included NETWORK SERVICE in my correctly functioning environment. So once I added the user account to this role, everything came up fine.
I believe this might have been an issue during the installation of SQL 2008 R2. I did specify NETWORK SERVICE, but for some reason it was not provided the role.
I have installed SharePoint 2013 on port 1433 for my SQL Server2008 r2. and now I want to install another application on the same server. and for the second application I need to use MS SQL server . so inside the installation wizard I define the server name , login user name and password. and when I specified the port number for my sql server 2008 r2 which is 1433; the following message appears "the same port number is already occupied by another application , do you want to proceed?"
so it is right to install two applications on the same sql server port? or I need o define a new port number?
I've got Visual Studio 2012 installed on Windows 7 64 bit machine. I am trying to install SQL Server express LocalDB and get an error when the installer tries to start services. Here is the exact error message:
Service 'SQL Server VSS Writer' failed to start. Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I am logged on to the machine as administrator. I have verified that the writter in Services is running and it is set to Auto.
I have no SQL Server installed on this machine as far as I know.
I'm stumped. Anyone have any ideas?
Also when I try to start SQL Writer in Services I get the following error:
Windows could not start the SQL Server VSS Writer service on local computer.
Error 1053: The server did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Thanks to Process Explorer, we can see there's a missing MSVCP140.dll when the service is trying to start (and failing) :
The solution is to install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 :

Have you tried below URL, we need to give User particular rights

Does Anyone knows the solution to this problem m not being able to run the SQL Server Services.
Solution: Install SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2, restart, open SQL Server Configuration Manager and ALL is good.
Source: Frozen bytes
No need to re-install or update your SQL Server 2008 R2 instance. I got the same error and it get resolved by simply starting the MSSQLSERVER standard service.
How to start this service:
Open Administrative Tasks > Services > Select Standard services tab > start SQL Server Agent(MSSQLSERVER) service and you are good to go.
With all due respect, "Right click on configuration manager and run as administrator" is a bogus answer. I also have this problem with the following series of events: I download the Windows Azure SDK from here: http://www.windowsazure.com/en-us/develop/downloads/, which installs SQL 2012 express; immediate I try to run SQL Server Configuration Manager, and the installation of SQL 2012 has broken it such that I get the "remote procedure call failed". That is true even if I "run as administrator". Microsoft says they can't reproduce this, but I've contacted them again because I've now reproduced this twice. And, if there's any doubt: un-installing SQL 2012 causes the problem to go away, and the configuration manager works again. I blogged about it here: http://dbarrowstechblog.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-remote-procedure-call-failed.html ; haven't solved it yet.
This error occurs only after I have installed the Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 setup in my work machine.
Since it is being a WMI error, I recompiled the MOF file –> mofcomp.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"
I also un-registered and re-registered the sql provider DLL –> regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmprovider.dll" but issue not resolved.
Solution:
I have applied SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 on my SQL 2008 R2 instance and that fixed the issue with Sql Server Configuration Manager. You can download setup from here... http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30437 .
Ok, Stop this.
Is this a new Installation?
Open SSMS in Integrated security Mode
Right click on server name in Object explorer tree at the left
Select properties -> Then choose the "Security" page at left
Under Server Authentication, select "SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode"
Click OK
Exit SSMS completely
Open "SQL Server Configuration Manager" (in Configuration menu under the "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2" menu item from start menu
Select you instance on SQLExpress and restart the instance of the server (but this is ok for non express too)
Exit SSCM - and to verify open SSMS again, but with "SQL Server Authentication" selected in the Authentication type dropdown - put in your SQL user ID and password.
installing the SP3 on SQL server 2008 worked for me..so give it try
Thanks!! dont forget to vote up if this helps you
