How to perform input checks in TextInputDialog in JavaFX?
The above link basically covers the answer to my question but it doesn't work for me in scala. I have a TextField (eTextField) and I want to check that it contains either a R or D. If it does than the button (ePR_ePD) should be enabled. Here is the part of my code that should do it, but it doesn't enable the button:

When the eTextField contains a R or D my output is:

false
But in both cases the ePR_ePD button says disabled. It appears it is something to do with the BooleanBinding, since it is always invalid.
Also not sure why isValid(eTextField.getText, eTextField.textProperty) needs to have the textProperty parameter, but that is what the answer in the link showed. Also tried "var isInvalid..." but that didn't help.
According to the documentation and as noted in the comments, createBooleanBinding takes two arguments, the function and the observable.
The function just tests the property value so isValid does not need the second argument. (The clue is that the second argument is not actually used)

The property itself is passed as a second parameter to createBooleanBinding rather than to isValid:
createBooleanBinding(() => !isValid(eTextField.getText), eTextField.textProperty)
This works, after I fixed the problem that I forgot to enter the fx:id in SceneBuilder for the ePR_ePD button:
(In the initialize() method of the fxml controller:)

The only odd thing is that it appears to call isValid twice when I use another method to automatically change the contents of the eTextField. My output is false false when there is no R or D in the field and true true when either is present.
This also works, without an isValid method:

Trying to find a partial attribute value. Full value is no problem.
I have h1 class="a b c" and want to find out, whether this h1 has a as a class attribute.
Trying WebUI.verifyMatch(findTestObject('mytest/mytest-h1'),'a', 'a.*', false, FailureHandling.STOP_ON_FAILURE) and fails on finding.

As per Mate Mrše's answer you can also try the following:

Since you added FailureHandling.STOP_ON_FAILURE the test will fail regardless of the condition.
Should you want the test to continue rather use FailureHandling.OPTIONAL
Try this:

Alternatively, create an object using the CSS class as the locator and verify the element exists:

Why am i getting this compilation error, and how to fix it ?
If I instead change sRecord and sRecord1 instances to be of type SRecord instead of Option[SRecord] as well as the method signature, it all works fine however.
But in some cases I may have a null SRecord hence the use of None/Some. I am new to Scala, using Option/Some all over feels like a real pain if you ask me, i am just thinking of removing all this Option nonsense and testing for 'null' in good ol' Java, at least my code would work ??!
With the line sRecord1.max=max you are trying to call the max method on an Option[SRecord], not an SRecord. You want to access the contained SRecord (if any) and call the method on that, which can be done using foreach:
sRecord1.foreach(_.max=max)
which is desugared to:
sRecord1.foreach( srec => srec.max=max )
(the actual name "srec" is made up, the compiler will assign some internal name, but you get the idea). If sRecord1 is None, this won't do anything, but if it is Some(srec), the method execution will be passed in to operate on the contained instance.
I'm trying to extract the parameter from a Lift Menu.param within a snippet so that I can use it to create a named Comet. However, I get a NullPointerException when I try to pass the parameter to the snippet using SnippetDisptach in my Boot.scala, as suggested here:

I have never tried what you are doing, so I am not sure the best way to accomplish it. The way you are using the Loc Param, you are extracting a variable from a URL pattern. In your case, http://server/item/ITEMID where ITEMID is the string representation of an Item, and which is the value that gets passed to the fetchItem function. The function call will not have a value if you just arbitrarily call it, and from what I can see you are requesting a value that is not initialized.
I would think there are two possible solutions. The first would be to use S.location instead of AnItemPage.menu.currentValue. It will return a Box[Loc[Any]] representing the Loc that is currently being accessed (with the parameters set). You can use that Loc to retrive currentValue and set your parameter.
The other option would be to instantiate the actor in your snippet. Something like this:
item.html

And then in your AnItemPage snippet, something like this:

I'm working on single page application, which involves sorting.
I use

to achieve that mapping. And it works, but the problem is that mapping returns literal strings "false" and "true" instead of bool value. This causes a problem with checkbox, which is bound to that property:

The question is, how can I make that value from url to be converted to correct type (normal bool), so my checkbox will be updated properly?
Ok, I found how to overcome that problem. Not very elegant, but works.
1. I assumed, that SortAsc will be a string property in my logic. So I left it bound to url like in the question text. Only initialized it with string, istead of bool ("true" intead of true).
2. I created writeable dependend observable, which will do the convertion:
viewModel.SortAscBool = ko.dependentObservable({

return this.SortAsc() === "true";
},
write: function (value) {
this.SortAsc(String(value));
},
owner: viewModel
});
and bound my checkbox to that prop. So now, when checkbox is checked, SortAscBool is changed and it sets literal value to SortAsc (I think this convertion is really not needed, but as a C# programmer I like it that way :)). And of course, when SortAsc changes, SortAscBool will also change and return the converted value to checked binding. And that is what was really needed.
Also, my first though was to simply create one way dependend observable, but then url will not be updated with values from checkbox.
I'm trying to write a class for a scala project and I get this error in multiple places with keywords such as class, def, while.
It happens in places like this:
var continue = true
while (continue) {
[..]
}
And I'm sure the error is not there since when I isolate that code in another class it doesn't give me any error.
Could you please give me a rule of thumb for such errors? Where should I find them? are there some common syntactic errors elsewhere when this happens?
It sounds like you're using reserved keywords as variable names. "Continue", for instance, is a Java keyword.
You probably don't have parentheses or braces matched somewhere, and the compiler can't tell until it hits a structure that looks like the one you showed.
The other possibility is that Scala sometimes has trouble distinguishing between the end of a statement with a new one on the next line, and a multi-line statement. In that case, just drop the ; at the end of the first line and see if the compiler's happy. (This doesn't seem like it fits your case, as Scala should be able to tell that nothing should come after true, and that you're done assigning a variable.)
Can you let us know what this code is inside? Scala expects "expressions" i.e. things that resolve to a particular value/type. In the case of "var continue = true", this does not evaluate to a value, so it cannot be at the end of an expression (i.e. inside an if-expression or match-expression or function block).
i.e.

This is a problem, as the function block is an expression and needs to have an (ignored?) return value, i.e.
