how to display drop down next to he elevated button - flutter

this is two search and dropdown sections I have implemented using animated_custom_dropdown.
I want that "Get Quote Filter " button to place next to the(right side) set location drop down..................................................................................................................................
........................................................................................................................................
import 'package:animated_custom_dropdown/custom_dropdown.dart';
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
import 'package:flutter/services.dart';
import '../constants/colors.dart';
const _labelStyle = TextStyle(fontWeight: FontWeight.w600);
class FantomSearch extends StatefulWidget {
const FantomSearch({Key? key}) : super(key: key);
#override
State<FantomSearch> createState() => _FantomSearchState();
}
class _FantomSearchState extends State<FantomSearch> {
final formKey = GlobalKey<FormState>();
final List<String> list = ['Heating', 'Electricians', 'Repair or Service', 'Accessibility Planner'];
final jobRoleFormDropdownCtrl = TextEditingController(),
jobRoleSearchDropdownCtrl = TextEditingController();
#override
void dispose() {
jobRoleFormDropdownCtrl.dispose();
jobRoleSearchDropdownCtrl.dispose();
super.dispose();
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
final Size size = MediaQuery.of(context).size;
return Scaffold(
//backgroundColor:AppGreen,
appBar: AppBar(
systemOverlayStyle: SystemUiOverlayStyle.dark.copyWith(
statusBarColor: AppGreen,
),
backgroundColor: AppGreen,
elevation: .10,
),
body: Container(
height: 200,
color: AppGreen,
child: ListView(
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(16.0),
children: [
CustomDropdown.search(
hintText: 'Search Services',
items: list,
controller: jobRoleSearchDropdownCtrl,
fillColor: DarkGreen,
),
const SizedBox(height: 24),
// using form for validation
Form(
key: formKey,
child: Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.only(right: 150),
child: Column(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.start,
children: [
CustomDropdown(
hintText: 'Set Location',
items: list,
controller: jobRoleFormDropdownCtrl,
excludeSelected: false,
fillColor: DarkGreen,
),
const SizedBox(height: 16),
SizedBox(
child: ElevatedButton(
onPressed: () {
if (!formKey.currentState!.validate()) {
return;
}
},
child: const Text(
'Get Quotes filter',
style: TextStyle(fontWeight: FontWeight.w600),
),
style: ElevatedButton.styleFrom(primary: ContainerGreen),
),
),
],
),
),
),
],
),
),
);
}
}

From your code, I believe that currently "Get quotes filter" showing below to the "Set Location" correct?
If this is the issue, you need to update Column widget to Row which is inside Padding.
Like,
Container(
height: 200,
child: SingleChildScrollView(
child: Column(
children: [
/**/
Row(
children: [
Expanded(
child: CustomDropdown.search(
hintText: 'Search Services',
items: list,
controller: jobRoleSearchDropdownCtrl,
fillColor: DarkGreen,
),
),
Padding(
padding: EdgeInsets.only(left: 15, top: 20, right: 15, bottom: 20),
child: Text(
"cancel"
),
)
],
),
const SizedBox(height: 24),
// using form for validation
Padding(
padding: const EdgeInsets.only(right: 70),
child: Row(
crossAxisAlignment: CrossAxisAlignment.center,
children: [
/**/
Expanded(
child: CustomDropdown(
hintText: 'Set Location',
items: list,
controller: jobRoleFormDropdownCtrl,
excludeSelected: false,
fillColor: DarkGreen,
),
),
const SizedBox(width: 16),
SizedBox(
child: ElevatedButton(
onPressed: () {
if (!formKey.currentState!.validate()) {
return;
}
},
child: const Text(
'Get Quotes filter',
style: TextStyle(fontWeight: FontWeight.w600),
),
style: ElevatedButton.styleFrom(primary: Colors.green),
),
),
],
),
),
],
),
),
)
If this still not worked, please share the expected output and what you are getting now. Because I am not able to compile your code due to custom widgets.
I have updated the color so please update it as per your need. The output is something like,

How do i correctly initialise a variable from a stateful widget to another widget in flutter and maintain state?

I have two widgets
JobsHeaderWidget
JobsView
JobsHeaderWidget is a stateful widget where i code all the logic and initialise int current = 0; in the state. In this same file, i have another class named CategoriesBuilder where i use switch cases to make sure at each switch case a different container is returned. ( a switch case for each tab )
This switch cases is now responsible for switching containers depending on the tab bar selected as seen in this image:
I will also drop the code snippet of the JobsHeaderWidget for better clarifications.
The problem is - when i use this CategoriesBuilder in same widget as the 'JobsHeaderWidget' it works.
But i don't want to use it in same widget cos of the logic of my design. I want to be able to use this builder in JobsView widget which is another dart file and it doesn't work maybe because of wrong approach.
I tried converting the JobsView to a stateful widget and initialising 'int current = 0;' but it doesn't work.
I also tried making int current = 0; global var, it worked but the state doesn't change when i select individual tab bars. ( I mean my switch cases don't seem to work ).
I have gone round stackoverflow for answers before asking this but can't find a solution.
Snippets of each widgets below.

}
}
Try this: keep your 'int current' within _JobsViewState as you have in your code.
When you call your JobsHeaderWidget , pass the function it will use to update the the value of the current variable; and rebuild the state from here.
Something like this:
class JobsHeaderWidget extends StatefulWidget {
final Function changeCurrentValue(int newValue);
const JobsHeaderWidget({
this.changeCurrentValue,
Key key,
}) : super(key: key);
#override
State<JobsHeaderWidget> createState() => _JobsHeaderWidgetState();
}
class _JobsHeaderWidgetState extends State<JobsHeaderWidget> {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
// Somewhere inside build, instead calling setState()
// call the function you passed to the widget
GestureDetector(
onTap: () {
changeCurrentValue(i);
},
)
}
}
class _JobsViewState extends State<JobsView> {
int current = 0;
void changeCurrentValue(int newValue) {
setState(() {
current = newValue;
});
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
//somewhere inside build
flexibleSpace: FlexibleSpaceBar(
collapseMode: CollapseMode.parallax,
title: JobsHeaderWidget(changeCurrentValue: changeCurrentValue),
)),
}
}
After hours and even sleeping overnight on this question i came up with a work-around that works. (minor refactoring)
This was my approach :
Convert my JobsView widget to a stateful widget and put all my controllers in place.
Copied all my variables from JobHeaderWidget and put it in the state of my JobsView widget.
Instead of returning a widget in the title of my sliver app as thus :
flexibleSpace: FlexibleSpaceBar( collapseMode: CollapseMode.parallax, title: JobsHeaderWidget(), )),
I copied all of my code from the widget tree from JobsHeaderWidget and put converted to a method and replaced it in my title.
My builder CategoryBuilder was put in a separate then imported as i used it in my SliverAppAdapter .
Of cos i got rid of the unnecessary dart file JobsHeaderWidget.

Text overflow flutter

I have the next widget, which is rendered with overflow. I have tried to solve, but i don't know. Can anyone help me? The aim is to do a custom card inside listview.
I have tried to wrap with expanded buth then, the error is referenced with constraints.

I 've edited the code to show all screen widget.
Image of result of code before:
For desktop applications, you can prevent the resize with breakpoint, so the error won't happen. In the pubsec.yaml file, add the following dependency.
window_size:
git:
url: https://github.com/google/flutter-desktop-embedding.git
path: plugins/window_size
And in your main method before runapp add this code with min-width and min-height below which the app won't resize.
const double desktopMinWidth = 800.0;
const double desktopMinHeight = 600.0;
if (Platform.isMacOS || Platform.isWindows) {
setWindowMinSize(const Size(desktopMinWidth, desktopMinHeight));
setWindowMaxSize(Size.infinite);
}
Note: Once done restart your app.
For mobile, it is entirely a different case. You might need to restructure the design

How can I search the button I made in ListView with Search Bar?

I created a button shape called 'VocabularyWordsButton' and when I try it under a ListView it works just fine. But when I make 100 buttons under ListView, I want to find them via Search Bar. But I don't know how to do it somehow.
What I want to do: I want to distinguish the buttons by filtering the word 'englishWord' among the buttons listed below. When I enter the word in 'englishWord' in Search Bar, I want the buttons containing that word to be filtered.
If I do something like below, only the texts inside are listed, not the button I made.
VocabularyWordsButton.dart
import 'package:being_moroccan/AdHelper.dart';
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
import 'package:audioplayers/audioplayers.dart';
import 'package:sizer/sizer.dart';

import 'package:easy_localization/easy_localization.dart';

required this.trasncribedWord,
required this.arabicWord,
required this.sound});
final String englishWord;
final String trasncribedWord;

I'm new to flutter but I have a curiosity. Considering the typical bootstrap admin UI that you can find online and the typical left menu, how would you recreate that with flutter? I'm particularly interested on a left menu that can be resized clicking on a button and on a sub-menu that can appear and disappear.
An example can be found here
Edit:
I want to be be clear about the effect I'm trying to reproduce as well. If you click the link relative to the example on the left you see a number of menu. For instance, clicking on Base you are going to see a vertical menu appearing and disappearing. I would like to know how to reproduce it as well.
Thanks

I have tried to re-create the same design with some minor changes in Flutter. I have to enable flutter web support by following the instructions here:
Flutter Web
Regarding the left menu, I have used AnimatedSize widget to give the sliding drawer feel & placed it inside Row.
Please find the code below:
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
final Color darkBlue = Color.fromARGB(255, 18, 32, 47);
void main() {
runApp(MyApp());
}
class MyApp extends StatelessWidget {

Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return MaterialApp(
theme: ThemeData.dark().copyWith(scaffoldBackgroundColor: darkBlue),
debugShowCheckedModeBanner: false,
home: Scaffold(
body: Center(
child: MyWidget(),
),
),
);
}
}
class MyWidget extends StatefulWidget {
#override
_MyWidgetState createState() => _MyWidgetState();
}
class _MyWidgetState extends State<MyWidget>
with SingleTickerProviderStateMixin {
final colors = <Color>[Colors.indigo, Colors.blue, Colors.orange, Colors.red];
double _size = 250.0;
bool _large = true;
void _updateSize() {
setState(() {

You can use the Drawer widget inside a Scaffold. If you want the navigation drawer to be able to resize according to the browser height and width you can use the responsive_scaffold package.

Stateful widget not updating, after being updated in setState, how to solve this?

I am new to Flutter. I am trying to build a Quiz App. Now, I am on the Quiz Screen, and then a quiz has multiple questions. I am showing the question title along with the answers, and when someone clicks on the answer, I am updating the QuestionView again with the new question data. These are stateful widgets, and when the result is fetched I am using setState to update the widget, and if I place a break point there I can see that the things are updated, but that is not rendered on the screen or the view is not changed, it has same title, answers and everything. I am using an optionTap method and you can find it in the comments below. I have mentioned where I am tapping the option and what is done below it.
Here's what I have done so far:
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
import 'package:flutter_app/Constants/constants.dart';
import 'package:flutter_app/Models/question_model.dart';
import 'package:flutter_app/ViewModels/QuestionsVM.dart';
import 'package:font_awesome_flutter/font_awesome_flutter.dart';
QuizQuestionViewModel questionViewModel = QuizQuestionViewModel();
QuizQuestionModel _questionModel;
Widget updateWidget;
class SQQuiz extends StatefulWidget {
final QuizQuestionModel quizQuestionModel;
final int quizId;
SQQuiz({Key key, #required this.quizQuestionModel, #required this.quizId})

#override

There are no errors at the moment, can anyone please help me with this? Thanks in advance.
No offence - but I think you have completely misunderstood the concept of state management in flutter.
If you have a stateful widget, the setState() method triggers the build() method again. So setState is a notifier to say: Hey there was an update to our variable, please build again.
Your Stateful Widget is doing that. BUT there are no new updates on variables from that widget, because your variables ARE OUTSIDE of the widget. They won't get updated for your StatefulWidget. Consider to rethink you architecture. For small Apps it is enough to pass the variables in a constructor.
Here are some links to get closer to the Flutter-State-Management-Concept:
