Snowflake Kafka Connect JMX configuration to get Snowflake connector metrics - apache-kafka

Could someone please help me with a sample JMX config file to get metrics from Kafka connect cluster that is running snowflake kafka connector. I am able to get most of the kafka connect specific metrics, however, couldnt get a solution to extracts metrics for snowflake.kafka.connector MBeab. I have gone through the snowflake and confluent documentation but couldnt find any solution for this issue.
MBean object name:-
snowflake.kafka.connector:connector=connector_name,pipe=pipe_name,category=category_name,name=metric_name

AWS MSK with confluent schema registry

Is it possible to use AWS MSK with confluent schema registry with docker instance? I dont need any Kafka connector or sink connector. Before publish want to use AVRO with confluent schema registry and deserialize the same during consumption. What are all the properties i need to set on confluent schema-registry docker? When i try to run i get this error java.lang.RuntimeException: No endpoints found for security protocol [PLAINTEXT]. Endpoints found in ZK. Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

How to make a Data Pipeline from MQTT to KAFKA Broker to MongoDB?

How can I make a data pipeline, I am sending data from MQTT to KAFKA topic using Source Connector. and on the other side, I have also connected Kafka Broker to MongoDB using Sink Connector. I am having trouble making a data pipeline that goes from MQTT to KAFKA and then MongoDB. Both connectors are working properly individually. How can I integrate them?
here is my MQTT Connector
MQTT Connector
Node 1 MQTT Connector
Message Published from MQTT
Kafka Consumer
Node 2 MongoDB Connector
MongoDB
that is my MongoDB Connector
MongoDB Connector
It is hard to tell what exactly the problem is without more logs, please provide your connect.config as well, please check /status of your connector, I still did not understand exactly what the issue you are facing, you are saying that , MQTT SOURCE CONNECTOR sending messages successfully to KAFKA TOPIC and your MONGO DB SINK CONNECTOR successfully reading this KAFKA TOPIC and write to your mobgodb, hence your pipeline, Where is the error? Is your KAFKA is the same KAFKA? Or separated different KAFKA CLUSTERS? Seems like both localhost, but is it the same machine?
Please elaborate and explain what are you expecting? What does "pipeline" means in your word?
You need both connectors to share same kafka cluster, what does node1 and node2 mean is it seperate kafka instance? Your connector need to connect to the same kafka "node" / cluster in order to share the data inside the kafka topic one for input and one for output, share your bootstrap service parameters, share your server.properties as well of the kafka
In order to run two different connect clusters inside same kafka , you need to set in different internal topics for each connect cluster
config.storage.topic
offset.storage.topic
status.storage.topic

kafka connect mongo on kafka MSK

I am using Kafka MSK in AWS. So we don't have native kafka connect with all required connectors like on confluent.
Actually I work with kakfa mongo connector and I want to find a way to push the kafka mongo connector jar to an on an instance of kafka MSK cluster.
The path to which the jar will be pushed is the plugins.path as defined in the properties of the used connector.
ANy way to make it please ?
MSK doesn't give you a hosted Kafka Connect worker. You'd need to provision and run this yourself, e.g. on EC2. This work would then connect to your Kafka cluster (MSK in this case)
To be clear: MSK is only the hosted Kafka brokers (and Zookeeper). It does not include Kafka Connect, which is what you need in order to run connectors.

How to consume message from a topic in Prometheus

I am working on Kafka --> Prometheus --> Grafana pipeline. I have java application which send message inside a kafka topic. But in prometheus it shows only the message count of topic. I am running an instance of JMX Exporter when I run Kafka.
export JMX_YAML=/home/kafka_2.12-2.3.0/prometheus/kafka-0-8-2.yml
export JMX_JAR=/home/kafka_2.12-2.3.0/prometheus/jmx_prometheus_javaagent-0.6.jar
export KAFKA_OPTS="$KAFKA_OPTS -javaagent:$JMX_JAR=7076:$JMX_YAML"
bin/kafka-server-start.sh config/server.properties
But I need to read the topic data in prometheus. Is there any direct Kafka to Prometheus importer?
I have heard about "Kafka Connect framework"? How to configure it inside prometheus?
Prometheus doesn't run Kafka Connect; you would have to configure that separately.
Also, Prometheus is pulled based, so you at the very least would have to use PushGateway, assuming a Kafka Connector did exist.
If you just want to ultimately display data in Grafana, there are existing connectors for Elasticsearch, Influx, Cassandra, and most JDBC databases
Telegraf or Logstash could be used as alternatives to Kafka Connect, as well, or you can write your own consumer.

Kafka Connect - metrics through JMX

I am using confluent HDFS sink connector and would like to know how to get consumer properties to expose through either JMX or REST API.
I checked the following two properties, however, I don't know how to expose metrics to jmx port
connect-standalone.properties
consumer.properties
Set JMX_PORT when you launch Kafka Connect. e.g.
export JMX_PORT=4242
./bin/connect-distributed ./etc/kafka/connect-distributed.properties
You can then connect to JMX using JConsole, JMXTerm, etc.
Had the same issue a few days back - this stackoverflow link has one way how the issue was resolved. It was able to expose the metrics using jmx exporter, which got scraped by Prometheus.
