Command option not found when using sudo - kubernetes-helm

I am trying to install the servecm plugin (https://github.com/jdolitsky/helm-servecm) for helm (https://helm.sh/), and following the installation steps I execute:
helm plugin install https://github.com/jdolitsky/helm-servecm
and then:
helm servecm
When I ran the second command, I got a permission denied error so I decided to run it with sudo, but when I run:
sudo helm servecm
I get the following error:
$ sudo helm servecm
Error: unknown command "servecm" for "helm"
Run 'helm --help' for usage.
I've read in some other posts that I need to add the command to the sudo path, but in every case I've read is always for the first command, which is recognized, but I don't know how to do it for the servecm option.
If it is useful, the servecm.sh file is located at: ~/.local/share/helm/plugins/helm-servecm
Thanks in advance

the permission denied error that you are talking about may mean that you user account cannot access ~/.local/share/helm/plugins/helm-servecm so try changing its permissions
chmod +rw ~/.local/share/helm/plugins/helm-servecm
I hope this helps you

Mongo Procedures Dependencies Cause Neo4j Connection Issues

I am using Neo4j on a remote server (ubuntu 20.4) and would like to stream data from MongoDB to Neo4j. I followed the instructions here. I tried both ways by using the following approaches:
Use the following command:
sudo wget https://github.com/neo4j-contrib/neo4j-apoc-procedures/releases/tag/4.3.0.7/apoc-mongodb-dependencies-4.3.0.7.jar -O /mnt/neo4j/plugins/apoc-mongodb-dependencies-4.3.0.7.jar
Note that the plugins directory has a different path due to mounting. I changed the path in the configuration file accordingly. This should not be causing any problems because I had the same problem before mounting.
Also, I tried to match the same release as the apoc-core file (4.4.0.3) in a separate attempt with no better outcome.
Changing the ownership and read permissions as follows didn't help either:
sudo chown neo4j:neo4j apoc-mongodb-dependencies-4.4.0.3.jar
sudo chmod 755 apoc-mongodb-dependencies-4.4.0.3.jar
Use the following commands:
sudo wget https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/mongodb/mongo-java-driver/3.12.11/mongo-java-driver-3.12.11.jar -O /mnt/neo4j/plugins/mongo-java-driver-3.12.11.jar
sudo wget https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/mongodb/mongodb-driver/3.12.11/mongodb-driver-3.12.11.jar -O /mnt/neo4j/plugins/mongodb-driver-3.12.11.jar
sudo wget https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/mongodb/mongodb-driver-core/4.7.1/mongodb-driver-core-4.7.1.jar -O /mnt/neo4j/plugins/mongodb-driver-core-4.7.1.jar
sudo wget https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/org/mongodb/bson/4.7.1/bson-4.7.1.jar -O /mnt/neo4j/plugins/bson-4.7.1.jar
Note that I used the latest versions. I tried the versions available in the instructions as well with no difference in the outcome.
Now when restarting the neo4j.service, I no longer can access the cypher-shell nor the browser. In the first case, I get "connection refused", while I get a blank page in the browser case. When I check the status, the service is active and running. But I noticed that it is missing a line compared to when I don't have the dependencies.
Starting...
This instance is ServerId{#}
======== Neo4j 4.4.5 ======== (This line is missing with the dependencies downloaded!)
When I delete the dependencies from the plugins directory and restart, everything goes back to normal and functions as expected. One more thing to note is that apoc-core procedures work just fine!
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong here or if there is some sort of underlying problem!

5: Input/output error Error: Failure while executing; `/bin/launchctl bootstrap gui/502 and FATAL: password authentication failed for user

The error 5: Input/output Error: Failure while executing; /bin/launchctl bootstrap gui/502 /Users/Andrea/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.postgresql.plist exited with 5 is occurring when typing in the command "brew services start postgresql".
I am trying to create a database using homebrew and postgresql. If I type the command "brew services stop postgresql" and then start it back up the error does not occur. But will reoccur on the initial start of postgresql.
After, I stop postgresql and restart it using homebrew I type in "createdb 'test'. This error appears:
"error: could not connect to database template1: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "Andrea". Initially I tried to primarily work on the password authentication with no luck.
Here are the steps I have taken:
I have changed the method column to trust in my hba_pg files.
I have tried the command ALTER in the terminal to change the password.
I created a root login on my computer, where I tried to access the file and use the root's password to create the database.
The command chpass to change my user's password.
Help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
This is what I did to resolve on my Mac.
Looked at the postgres.log cat /usr/local/var/log/postgres.log | tail -100
Found the following error on my logs FATAL: lock file "postmaster.pid" already exists
Fix above PID issue and restart the server.
rm /usr/local/var/postgres/postmaster.pid
brew services restart postgresql
Sometimes this can be solved by simply running
brew services restart postgresql
instead of
brew services start postgresql
It happens when a previous postgres process doesn't terminate properly (maybe because you killed a psql process in activity monitor or otherwise). Restarting appears to properly unlock/delete the postmaster.pid file where "start" doesn't.
On the m1 mac I had the same issue and had to remove the postmaster.pid file as well. For m1 macs, the file is at /opt/homebrew/var/postgres/postmaster.pid, so I ran
/opt/homebrew/var/postgres/postmaster.pid
and I could brew services start postgresql successfully.
The other answers didn't apply because I didn't have the pid file (or many other files in those directories). The same error was caused by a bad install, most likely because I had previously installed libpq to get the psql CLI in isolation previously as per: Correct way to install psql without full Postgres on macOS?.
Solution, clean install:
> brew uninstall postgresql
> brew uninstall libpq
> brew install postgresql
> brew services run postgresql
To build on what #gajen-sunthara said, I made sure to upgrade my postgresql installation:
brew services upgrade postgresql
Then removed the postmaster.pid:
rm /usr/local/var/postgres/postmaster.pid
And restarted postgresql:
brew services restart postgresql
And that should get it going again :)
I got the same error:
% brew services start yabai
Bootstrap failed: 5: Input/output error
Try re-running the command as root for richer errors.
Error: Failure while executing; `/bin/launchctl bootstrap gui/503 /Users/myuser/Library/LaunchAgents/
homebrew.mxcl.yabai.plist` exited with 5.
I have an extra user who manages brew called brew.
After trying to run a brew service with sudo, this was a solution (on Apple silicon):
% sudo brew services stop yabai
% sudo chmod -R g+w /opt/homebrew
% sudo chown -R brew /opt/homebrew
% brew services start yabai
I know this has already been answered, but for anyone seeing this in the future, here is some help.
This often happens because it wasn't properly stopped when it was used at a different time, and the version you are using now has a conflict with what you were running previously. There are a few ways to fix it.
Try stoping it with brew services stop postgresql
Start it with brew services start postgresql
You can also just do brew services restart postgresql and not do step 1 and 2. Hope this helps someone!

List directory /var/lib/apt/lists/partial is missing. - Acquire (20: Not a directory)

When I executed sudo apt update I'm getting
Reading package lists... Done
E: List directory /var/lib/apt/lists/partial is missing. - Acquire (20: Not a directory)
Also, I was getting a status error which I solved using
sudo cp /var/lib/dpkg/status-old /var/lib/dpkg/status
I tried sudo mkdir /var/lib/apt/lists/partial as suggested in few other threads
mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/var/lib/apt/lists/partial’: Not a directory
Even I tried sudo mkdir /var/lib/apt/lists/
Any other solution?
The answer may be inappropriate here. But as I came here others may land here too.
If you're using docker and you face the same issue you can do like the following.
USER root
# RUN commands
USER 1001
Reference: Link
You can try adding -u 0 in the command
sudo docker exec -u 0 -it ContainerID bin/bash
According to Docker, the u flag defines what username or UID in the system for the container to run as, setting -u 0 means you run the container as root, use it with caution! Reference here
The same happened to me. I follow as guide this answer:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened
I assumed my lists were corrupted. I went to /var/lib/apt/ I saw a file (lists#) instead of a directory. I deleted it (sudo rm lists) and re-created the path (sudo mkdir -p /var/lib/apt/lists/partial). Double-check the path gets created.
I ran into the same issue while trying to build a new container and experimenting with Dockerfile for a while.
What saved me finally was just to delete all containers I've created during this process using docker rm.
I had this same issue when trying to install an Typora on Ubuntu 20.04.
I was running into the error whenever I run the command below:
# add Typora's repository
sudo add-apt-repository 'deb https://typora.io/linux ./'
Here's how I solved it:
I disconnected and reconnected my network connection, and when I ran the command again, it worked fine.
I think it was an issue with my network connectivity.
That's all.
I hope this helps
I had a similar error when using bitnami spark image and docker exec command with arguments -u didn't work for me. I found my answer in the image documentation here.
In case you are using a docker image, it might be that the image is a non root container image. Read the documents of the docker image provider to find the solution to see how you can use the image as a root container image.
this is how it works access as root in docker bash and install your apps
get id container by name
sudo docker ps -aqf "name=name=es01"
access bash as root
sudo docker exec -u 0 -it 3d42134dfd59 bash
Example install:
apt get update
apt-get install nano
You first need to have super user privilege by typing in sudo -i and then inserting your password.

Ionic serve throws this error code help please

Ionic serve throughs the error below when I run it.
When I change color of tabs with default settings like from stable ---> to positive it works and makes the changes but when i try to override it with my custom color nothing change for example if i try to make positive variable red nothing changes.
any one can help ?
stream.js:94
throw er; // Unhandled stream error in pipe.
^
Error: EACCES, open '/Users/cabdifitaaraden/Desktop/Lasoco/www/css/ionic.app.css
I had this error as well when running the ionic serve command.
I think it's just a permissions thing as using sudo solved it for me sudo ionic serve.
Did you run Sass setup with sudo rights? (sudo ionic setup sass)
If so, the files that were generated by Sass are not accessible with standard user rights due to a permission issue.
You have two options:
a) run ionic serve with sudo rights: sudo ionic serve
b) fix the problem by changing the owner of the following files:
www/css/ionic.app.css
www/css/ionic.app.min.css
You can do this with the chown command. Here's a one-liner that does the job (just adjust yourUser to your user account name):
sudo chown -Rv yourUser www/css

Capistrano is hanging when prompting for SUDO password to an Ubuntu box

I have a capistrano deployment recipe I've been using for some time to deploy my web app and then restart apache/nginx using the sudo command. Recently cap deploy is hanging when I try to execute these sudo commands. I see the output:
"[sudo] password for "
With my server name and the remote login, but this is not a secure login prompt. The cap shell is just hanging waiting for more output and does not allow me to type my password in to complete the remote sudo command.
Is there a way to fix this or a decent work around? I did not want to remove the sudo password prompt of my remote user for web restart commands.
This seems to happen when connecting to CentOS machines as well. Add the following line in your capistrano deploy file:
default_run_options[:pty] = true
Also make sure to use the sudo helper instead of executing sudo in your run commands directly. For example:
# not
run "sudo chown root:root /etc/my.cnf"
# but
sudo "chown root:root /etc/my.cnf"
The other advice may be sound, but I found that once I updated to Capistrano 2.5.3 the problem went away. I have to make sure I stop running the default versions of tools that came with my O/S.
# prevent sudo prompting for password
set :sudo_prompt, ""
