Why does futurebuilder keep fetching data everytime TextFormField is pressed? - flutter

I have a statelsess widget built like this where a futurebuilder fetches data and then returns a StatefullTextFormFieldWidget:
Statless Widget{
build:
Futurebuilder(snapshot, context){
future: GetDocumentFromFirebase(id);
if(snapshot.hasData){
return StatefullTextFormFieldWidget(snapshot);
}
}
}
The StatefullTextFormfieldWidget contains a appbar and scaffold with with 2 TextFormFields and workes as it should (when it was offline).
The bug occurs when any of my forms gets onFocusScope in the StatefullTextFormFieldWidget. Then the future starts to refetch data from firebase. It does NOT trigger the rebuild function so my app actually works fine since the state remains, but the main problem is that the app unnecessarily starts fetching data from firestore everytime the user clicks on a TextFormField. I only want to fetch data once when the user enter the screen and then stick with that snapshot as long as the user remains on the screen.
I really cant understand how the futurebuilder can continue fetch data without being rebuilt.
FuturebuilderWidget:

import 'package:MyApp/manage_orders/handle/widgets/form_has_handling.dart';
import 'package:MyApp/services/firestore.dart';

My guess is that your GetDocumentFromFirebase function does a new get() call to Firestore each time it runs, which happens every time the widget is rendered.
If you want to prevent refetching the document every time, put the code in a stateful widget, and keep the Future<DocumentSnapshot> in a state variable that you only initialize once.

Flutter - codes not working correctly after putting inside setState

I am trying to add to an array list after user clicked. I am using InkWell, onTap function.
child: InkWell(
onTap: () {
if (tempArray.contains(entries[index].toString())) {
tempArray.remove(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
} else {
tempArray.add(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
}
My debug console is printing these out,
enter image description here
However, when i put the codes inside a setState, this is what got printed
child: InkWell(
onTap: () {
setState(() {
if (tempArray.contains(entries[index].toString())) {
tempArray.remove(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
} else {
tempArray.add(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
}
});
enter image description here
What i am trying to do, is to show/hide the 'trailing' icon in the ListTile, based on whatever user had selected the particular item.
My full codes (without the setState) are as follows,
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
class Personal1Redo extends StatefulWidget {
#override
_Personal1RedoState createState() => _Personal1RedoState();
}
class _Personal1RedoState extends State<Personal1Redo> {
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
final mediaQuery = MediaQuery.of(context);
List<String> entries = [
'Residental Loan',
'Personal Loan',
'Car Loan',
'Renovation Loan',
'Savings Account',
];
List<String> tempArray = [];
final heading = Column(
children: [
const SizedBox(
height: 40,
),
SizedBox(
height: (mediaQuery.size.height - mediaQuery.padding.top) * 0.1,
child: const Align(
alignment: Alignment.center,
child: Text(
'What do you aspire to do?',
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
style: TextStyle(
fontWeight: FontWeight.bold,
fontSize: 20,
),
),
),
),
const SizedBox(
height: 20,
),
],
);
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text('Borrower redo'),
),
body: SingleChildScrollView(
child: Column(
children: <Widget>[
heading,
ListView.builder(
shrinkWrap: true,
itemCount: entries.length,
itemBuilder: (ctx, index) {
return Container(
width: mediaQuery.size.width * 0.9,
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(15),
child: InkWell(
onTap: () {
if (tempArray.contains(entries[index].toString())) {
tempArray.remove(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
} else {
tempArray.add(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
}
},
child: Card(
margin: const EdgeInsets.all(10),
elevation: 8,
child: ListTile(
title: Text(
entries[index],
style: TextStyle(
color: Colors.grey.shade800,
fontSize: 20,
),
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
),
trailing: tempArray.contains(entries[index])
? Icon(Icons.check_box_outline_blank_outlined)
: null,
),
),
),
);
})
],
),
),
);
}
}
Any helps and guidance is very much appreciated, thanks!!
Define variables and functions outside build method.
As setState method, calls build, every time it is called.
Like this :
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
class Personal1Redo extends StatefulWidget {
#override
_Personal1RedoState createState() => _Personal1RedoState();
}
class _Personal1RedoState extends State<Personal1Redo> {
List<String> entries = [
'Residental Loan',
'Personal Loan',
'Car Loan',
'Renovation Loan',
'Savings Account',
];
List<String> tempArray = [];
getHeadingWidget(BuildContext context) {
return Column(
children: [
const SizedBox(
height: 40,
),
SizedBox(
height: (mediaQuery!.size.height - mediaQuery.padding.top) * 0.1,
child: const Align(
alignment: Alignment.center,
child: Text(
'What do you aspire to do?',
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
style: TextStyle(
fontWeight: FontWeight.bold,
fontSize: 20,
),
),
),
),
const SizedBox(
height: 20,
),
],
);
}
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
final mediaQuery = MediaQuery.of(context);
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
title: Text('Borrower redo'),
),
body: SingleChildScrollView(
child: Column(
children: <Widget>[
getHeadingWidget(context),
ListView.builder(
shrinkWrap: true,
itemCount: entries.length,
itemBuilder: (ctx, index) {
return Container(
width: mediaQuery.size.width * 0.9,
padding: const EdgeInsets.all(15),
child: InkWell(
onTap: () {
if (tempArray.contains(entries[index].toString())) {
tempArray.remove(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
} else {
tempArray.add(entries[index].toString());
print(tempArray.toList().toString());
}
},
child: Card(
margin: const EdgeInsets.all(10),
elevation: 8,
child: ListTile(
title: Text(
entries[index],
style: TextStyle(
color: Colors.grey.shade800,
fontSize: 20,
),
textAlign: TextAlign.center,
),
trailing: tempArray.contains(entries[index])
? Icon(Icons.check_box_outline_blank_outlined)
: null,
),
),
),
);
})
],
),

);
}

Tab Bar in Flutter

I want to implement Tab Bar in my application having length 2 named "Need Help" and "Help Requests". In "Need Help" tab, I want my first container (i.e. Upload data to Firestore Database) and in "Help Requests" tab, I want my second container (i.e. Retrieve data from Firestore Database). I am new to flutter and will be very much grateful to you if you can help me.

It's very straightforward to implement a simple TabBar in your app. All you need is a TabController and two widgets called TabBar and TabBarView. Here is a simple example:
DefaultTabController(
length: 2,
child: Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
bottom: TabBar(tabs: [
Tab(text: 'Tab 1'),
Tab(text: 'Tab 2'),
]),
),
body: TabBarView(children: [
// Tab 1
Container(color: Colors.red),
// Tab 2
Container(color: Colors.blue),
]),
),
);
Now all you need to do is to replace children inside TabBarView with whatever you want to display.

How to add item in a listview from one class to another in Flutter?

I am working on a project in which i have a class which has a row that has two children. Child one contains a TabView with a child class TabViewChild in which i am generating a gridview. On the other hand child two contains a listView. So the problem is, when i click on the gridview item i am passing that item's value to a static list and passing that list to a listview of other class. But i have no idea how to change the state of that class on item clicked or how can i achieve this task in a better way as i am new to Flutter. I want that when a person click on any gridview's item that item appears in the listview simultaneously.
class ItemMenus {

String photo;

int quantity;

this.categoryName, this.percentage, this.quantity});

So the problem now, there are two stateful widgets.
And as we are going to share the data or the state between them, basically we need to have more one stateful Widget which will the parent of them.
This term of is this problem known as State Management.
Currently there are many reknown State Management , such as Provider and Bloc. Reference.
But personally, I recommend to use Provider, which has simple Syntaxes and Concept.

How to add a plus Button in ListView Builder fetches the data from SQLite in Flutter

I have a ListView Builder where I have one Stateful Widget. I want to add a plus Button as Widget inside the ListView Item. What I am doing is that, I have added a number of records in SQLite when creating the database, and I have added a plus Icon and an empty as record/row to the database. So I am fetching the data from there. The Plus Button(Widget) is displaying as I expect but when update the data into the database the Button is not Showing at the Expected position, Because I want it to display at the end of all the items.

Why does a change in state of a child bottom sheet trigger a rebuild of parent widget?

I have a Scaffold screen (ListsScreen).
Which has a Button(AddNewListButton) that opens up a Modal Bottom Sheet (ListScreenBottomSheetWidget).
Bottom Sheet has TextField (ListTitleInputTextFieldWidget).
When i tap the TextField to open the keyboard, the parent screen rebuilds itself, due to which ofcourse all its child widgets are rebuilt as well.
Why is this happening? I was under the impression that state changes only rebuild themselves or their children, not their parents. And i also added const constructors almost everywhere to avoid rebuilds but this is still happening.
The Parent ListsScreen:
class ListsScreen extends StatelessWidget {
const ListsScreen();
static const routeName = '/lists-screen';
#override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
final user = Provider.of<AuthProvider>(context, listen: false).getUser;
print('stateless rebuilding');
return Scaffold(
appBar: AppBar(
centerTitle: false,
title: Text(
'${user['name']}\'s Lists',
style: TextStyle(
color: Theme.of(context).primaryColorLight,
),
),
actions: <Widget>[
const SignOutButton(),
],
),
body: Center(

when you call showModalBottomSheet , it actually use Navigator inside
return Navigator.of(context, rootNavigator: useRootNavigator).push(_ModalBottomSheetRoute<T>(
builder: builder,
source code of showModalBottomSheet https://github.com/flutter/flutter/blob/17079f26b54c8517678699a0cefe5f7bfec67b3f/packages/flutter/lib/src/material/bottom_sheet.dart#L635
Flutter teams' reply of issue Pages on Navigator stack rebuild when a new page is pushed https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/11655#issuecomment-348287396
This is working as intended. In general, you should assume that all widgets can rebuild at any time, that they don't is mostly just an optimisation.
In particular, routes will rebuild because their navigator state has changed so they might need to update how they draw back buttons and the like.
