I'm running emulated devices in android studio just fine, but when i try running it in VS Code, I'm get this error: "Failed to launch Pixel 2 API 27: Error: Emulator didn't connect within 60 seconds"
saw some videos and guides, but they all say to reinstall the emulator or wipe the emulated device, which doesn't help.
what could be the problem?
trying to use this for a flutter project that i'm trying to create, and it kind hurts testing.

Steps:
Open Android Studio Tools -> AVD Manager Virtual Device -> Actions (Refer Image) Click On Stop Now Start Emulator Now it's working fine :)

Apparently, the only way to run the emulator, is to run the device in Android studio, and then run the app in visual code.

I have been dealing with a very persistent error when attempting to run a flutter app on an Android Emulator (Android Virtual Device launched through Android Studio) through VS Code. Here is a screenshot of the errors:
I have attempted to wipe data & cold brew both my emulators & reopen the application folder to no avail. I am beginning to feel hopeless. If anyone can help me at all, I would really appreciate that. Thank you in advance :)

if you wiped the emulator's data and it is still showing the error, try to increase your emulator's space,
Tools
AVD Manager
Locate the emulator you want to increase space, click the drop down
Edit
Show advanced settings
Edit the Internal storage
Restart the emulator if it's running
NOTE: Newer android studio versions do not have the Edit option inside the dropdown, it was moved next to the dropdown menu (The edit icon)

Recently Formatted My Laptop , Previously the Android Emulator Was Working Great in My VS-Code. Now after fresh install of my VS Code, I installed the flutter and dart plugin . And created a sample flutter project to text my Android Emulator . To run the emulator I used the flutter run command but it showed only chrome and explorer . So I installed the Android iOS Plugin available in the VS Code. But When I Run The Emulator I am getting errors And The Emulator is not starting .But The emulator works great in Android Studio . I have just spent an hour reading through similar questions on Stack Overflow, and they are all for Android Studio, not Visual Studio Code. Also, I am doing Flutter development, so don't have access to adb commands, such as adb kill-server.
Everything was fine, unlike I clicked the power button on my emulated Android. Now, when I run/start debug and select active device, I get Failed to launch Nexus 5X API 29 x86: Error: Emulator didn't connect within 60 seconds.
How can I restart the emulated device? When it appears, clicking the power button does not seem to do anything. Is there a flutter terminal command?
Or can I somehow use a different emulator (if so, how)?
I faced the same issue with Android Virtual Device and Memu emulator so I switched to Genymotion.
I am using Genymotion personal edition which works amazingly and it's very light on resources too as compared to AVD and Memu.

Apart from Installing emulator Image you should also consider installing the GAPPS bundle in the emulator as it does not comes with it preinstalled. GAPPS will be needed in many apps requiring Google Play Services.

My Genymotion Emulator is Google Pixel 3a, 9.0 API 28.
I have created a blank Android Native C++ project using Visual Studio 2015 Preview. When I click to run it on the emulator, the emulator will load but I always get the following error and cannot run the app on the emulator.

3>Error installing the package. The device '169.254.191.177:5555' is invalid or not running. Please switch to another device, or use the Android Virtual Device (AVD) Manager to start a compatible emulator, or connect a compatible Android device.

Would this be because I have the Windows Phone emulator installed ? I havnt done anything except install Visual Studio 2015, create project, and run.
Short answer: you need to use "adb connect 169.254.191.177:5555"

This is not likely to be a result of having the Windows Phone Emulator installed. More likely is that there is a problem with the connection between the VS Android Emulator and Visual Studio. Repairing your VS and VS Emulator for Android installations by going to Control Panel > Programs and Features may resolve this.
