I want to find out the changed files between two given commits/branches/tags using the Bitbucket Rest API.
I tried to use the diff command from here
curl -u USER:PASSWORD https://REPO-URL/rest/api/latest/projects/PROJECT/repos/REPO/compare/diff?from=COMMITHASH1&to=COMMITHASH2
where CAPITAL words are place holders for actual values I cannot post here.
The result of the request is always something like
The command "to" is spelled wrong or cannot be found
(the original result is in German, so that might be the translation).
However, if I switch the query parameters like .../diff?to=...&from=..., it says that the command from is unknown. I also tried other similar diff queries like .../compare/changes?from=...&to=... or .../diff?since=...&until=..., but the result was similar as mentioned above. Also giving branch names instead of commit-hashs showed no result.
Therefore, my assumption was that the second query parameter cannot be handled correctly by the API.
Other basic queries on the API like .../branches work fine, so authentication or whatever is no problem.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to wrap the commit-hashs into "" or something like that?
Thank you very much!
PS: As the repository is commercially used, I cannot give you the actual url, user or password to try for yourself.

I'm trying to get a history report for a repository connection over ManifoldCF REST API. According to the documentation:
https://manifoldcf.apache.org/release/release-2.11/en_US/programmatic-operation.html#History+query+parameters
It should be possible with the following URL (connection name: myConnection):
http://localhost:8345/mcf-api-service/json/repositoryconnectionhistory/myConnection
I have also tried to use some of the history query parameters:
http://localhost:8345/mcf-api-service/json/repositoryconnectionhistory/myConnection?report=simple
But I am not sure if I am using them correctly or how they should be attached to the URL, because it is not mentioned in the documentation.
The problem is also that I don't receive any error, but an empty object, so it is difficult to debug. The API returns an empty object even for a non-existing connection.
However it works for resources, which doesn't have any attributes, e.g.:
http://localhost:8345/mcf-api-service/json/repositoryconnectionjobs/myConnection
or
http://localhost:8345/mcf-api-service/json/repositoryconnections/myConnection
Thanks in advace for any help.
I also wrote a message to ManifoldCF team and they gave me an answer. So I summed up it for you below.
Query parameters go after the fixed "path" part of the URL and are of the form ?parameter=value¶meter2=value2...
So in the same way as in any other URL.
The problem was that I didn't supply the activity(s) that I wanted to match. Possible activities are e.g. fetch, process. My example:
http://localhost:8345/mcf-api-service/json/repositoryconnectionhistory/myConnection?activity=process&activity=fetch
Finally, the reason why I didn't get an error when I used a connection name that is bogus is because the underlying implementation is merely doing a dumb query and not checking for the legality/existence of the connection name.
I'm trying to search for all projects (or at least several thousand) from the github search API. I've gotten everything else to work, except the filters on filename.
For example, sending the following request to the search API only returns 1 result:
https://api.github.com/search/code?q=django+in:requirements.txt+filename:requirements.txt+language:python+org:openmicroscopy
Likewise, sending the following
https://api.github.com/search/repositories?q=filename:Makefile&per_page=100
only returns 1 result as well. I'm willing to bet that there is more than 1 repo on github with a Makefile or a dependency on Django. I must be doing something wrong, but I can't seem to figure out what it is.
According to this post on Github's developer site to support the expected volume of requests, they have added restrictions to code queries which requires us to specify set of users, organizations, or repositories with the query. Read about considerations for code search at this link
Now, about your search API requests, in the first one the in qualifier is provided with file name requirements.txt which is wrong.
The documentation states that in should be provided with file to restrict the search to the file contents, path to restrict the search to the file path or both.
Like this, in:file, in:path, in:file,path
So, if you want to search in file contents the correct API call should be
https://api.github.com/search/code?q=django+in:file+filename:requirements.txt+org:openmicroscopy
I removed the language qualifier since you are searching in a .txt file and doing this improved the result.
Checkout this URL, it will produce same results on the website,
https://github.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=org%3Aopenmicroscopy+django+in%3Afile+filename%3Arequirements.txt&type=Code
Your second query is a repository search, it cannot not take a filename as qualifier you should see this link for available qualifiers.
First off thanks for reading!
Second off YES I have tried to find the answer! :) Perhaps I haven't found it because I'm not using the right words to describe my problem, but it's been about 4 hours that I've been trying to figure it out now and I'm getting a little loopy trying to piece it together on my own.
I am very new to programming. Python is my first language. I am on my third Python course. I have an assignment to use the socket library (not urllib library - I know how to do that) to make a socket and use GET to receive information. The problem is that the program needs to take raw input for the URL in question.
I have everything else the way I want it, but I need to know the syntax that I'm supposed to be using INSIDE my "GET" request in order for the HTTP message to include the requested document path.
I have tried (obviously not all together lol):
mysock.send('GET (url) HTTP/1.0\n\n')
mysock.send( ('GET (url) HTTP:/1.0\n\n'))
mysock.send(('GET (url) HTTP:/1.0\n\n'))
mysock.send("GET (url) HTTP/1.0\n\n")
mysock.send( ("'GET' (url) HTTP:/1.0\n\n"))
mysock.send(("'GET' (url) 'HTTP:/1.0\n\n'"))
and:
basically every other configuration of the above (, ((, ( (, ', '' combinations listed above.
I have also tried:
-Creating a string using the 'url' variable first, and then including it inside mysock.send(string)
-Again with the "string-first" theory, but this time I used %r to refer to my user input (so 'GET %r HTTP/1.0\n\n' % url basically)
I've read questions here, other programming websites, the whole chapter in the book and the whole lectures/notes online, I've read articles on the socket library and the .send(), and of course articles on GET requests... but I'm clearly missing something. It seems most don't use socket library when they can use urllib and I don't blame them!!
Thank you again...
Someone from the university posted back to me that the url variable can concatenated with the GET syntax and assigned to a string variable which can then be called with .send(concatenatedvariable) - I had mentioned trying that but had missed that GET requires a space after the word 'GET' so of course concatenating didn't include a space and that blew it. In case anyone else wants to know :)
FYI: A fully quallified URL is only allowed in HTTP/1.1 requests. It is not the norm, though, as HTTP/1.1 requires setting the Host header. The relevant piece of reading would've been RFC 7230, sec. 3.1.1 and possibly RFC 3986. The syntax of the parameters is largely borrowed from the CGI format. It is in no way enforced, however. In a nutshell, everything put together would look like this on the wire:
GET /path?param1=value1¶m2=value2 HTTP/1.1
Host: example.com
As a final note: The line delimiter in HTTP is CRLF (\r\n). For robustness, a simple linefeed is acceptable as well but not recommended.
We have a list of address, And trying to get coordinates of them using server side script.
Due to limitation of google map api(2500 query per 24 hour), We move to bing map REST api.
But when we are calling API its not giving the coordinates, While google map api returning the correct coordinates.
Please tell me what i am doing wrong?
Here is the sample call
http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Locations?query=A+Beka+Acadamdy,2303+Maravilla,Lompoc,CA,93436,&incl=queryParse&key=MY_API_KEY
if I replace everything with %20 in address then still its not returning data
http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Locations?query=A%20Beka%20Acadamdy%202303%20Maravilla%20Lompoc%20CA%2093436&incl=queryParse&key=MY_API_KEY
Another URL is
http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Locations?query=103+Black+Men+of+the+Bay+Area+Community,3403+Malcolm+Avenue,Oakland,CA,94607-1407,&incl=queryParse&key=MY_API_KEY
We also tried with this
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff817004.aspx#sectionToggle6
But sometimes we don't know the country, That's why its not working correctly.
A couple of things to change. First, drop the name of the location, you only need the street address.
So geocoding "2303 Maravilla, Lompoc, CA, 93436" will work.
Secondly, it looks like you are escaping the query value rather than encoding it. Escaping isn't as good as encoding and will result in some queries failing all together. For example if a query had "first & Main" in it, escaping it would not escape the ampersand which would make everything after it a new URL parameter which would likely either cause an error or mean your query is just for "first". By encoding it the ampersand would be changed to %26. This is documented in the best practices here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn894107.aspx
By encoding your query parameter your address will look like this:
"2303%20Maravilla,%20Lompoc,%20CA,%2093436"
I need to update an order which is done via PUT method passing the order id as part of the https url string and a single parameter, the status_id.
https://mystore.mybigcommerce.com/orders/12345.json
I have tried several methods to pass the status_id value but no matter what I try "status_id=12" or formatted as JSON "{"status_id": 12,}" I always get the same response:
[{"status":415,"message":"The specified input content type is not valid."}]
I have also tried as a POST request passing the JSON or XML code as raw data but that method is not supported.
How am I supposed to pass that field=value pair? can I embed it in the url string?
I also tried it but it wouldn't work for me.
Any ideas?
In case you are wondering I am doing it within FileMaker with TROIUrl plugIn, not a very popular technology, but the GET method retrieving orders works like a charm
TURL_Put( ""; $url ;"status_id=12") (I have also tried other FM plugIns to no avail)
Don't get too caught up in the Filemaker part, I don't expect many people out there to be familiar with BigCommerce and Filemaker. I just need a generic answer.
Thanks
Commandline tool curl is worth a try. It supports put and https.
Mac OS X: curl already installed, call from FileMaker via AppleScript do shell script.
Windows: must be installed, call via Powershell.
It works for me using { "status_id": "3" } which means you probably need to put quotes around the actual number.
Also, it is a PUT operation and application/json which is part of the request content.
The error message received by the OP:
[{"status":415,"message":"The specified input content type is not valid."}]
Is saying that he did not supply the 'Content-Type' header in his request or that the header supplied is for a content type that is not allowed. For the OP's case using JSON he would need to include the header:
Content-Type: application/json
in his HTTPS request. This description can be found along with those of the other status codes you may see here:
https://developer.bigcommerce.com/api/status-codes
