VSCode tab-less editor background - visual-studio-code

How do I change what is shown in the space normally occupied by the editor when there are no open tabs? I mean the space with the gray-er blue and the VSCode icon, in the attached screenshot
It should appear somewhere in the Theme reference but I'm failing to find it.
Edit: I was expecting a var like editor.emptyStateBackground, being editor and background the main keywords, but there is nothing in the reference that allows to update this using any of those keywords.

Cannot find setting to control unselected text background color for text editor

For some reason in the text editor pane, all lines containing characters have a background color that differs from the normal text editor background (i.e. they appear like they've been selected/highlighted with the cursor). I've tried switching themes, but doesn't seem to be controlled by any that I've tried. At a loss as to what setting might be controlling this. Any tips appreciated.
With no lines selected (the problem)
With a line selected (how it should look normally)
Turns out this was caused by the SQLTools extension highlighting the code block. I uninstalled it for now, but it appears customizing the settings for that extension would also work.
press ctrl + shift + p
type “settings json”
click “Preferences: Open Settings (JSON)
edit file and leave only braces { }
Resetting might help.

Displaying same document in editor twice with different text decorations

I'm currently developing a vscode extension that highlights snippets of text in specific colors. In order to do that I am creating a TextEditorDecorationType with the color and use setDecoration (TextEditor) on the active text editor.
Now I would like to compare two different colors on the same snippet with each other. Therefore I want to have the editor split in half showing the text document twice, on the left side with the old decoration and on the right side with the new decoration, similar to the git source control:
I figured if it is possible in the source control it should be possible anywhere.
Currently I open a second text editor with the same TextDocument and add the new TextEditorDecorationType to it, yet instead I would like to do it as shown above.
I cannot figure out how to split the editor like that displaying the same content twice.

VS Code Terminal panel [duplicate]

Is it possible to get tabs instead of the select list when using multiple terminals from the "integrated terminal" window?
Terminal "tabs" appear to be coming to v1.56. See Terminal Tabs release notes. They are vertical tabs - always visible, if you want, in a resizable view to the left or right. Not like traditional tabs across the top like a browser though.
Tabs in the terminal [are] available as a preview feature and can be
enabled with the following setting:
"terminal.integrated.tabs.enabled": true
The tabs view is a split pane to the right of two split terminals. It
contains icons and labels for each terminal instance.
When enabled, the new tabs view will only show by default when there
is at least 2 terminals.
We've tried to mostly align how the new tabs behave with how the
explorer works, here are some of the other behaviors:
Double clicking the empty space will create a new terminal.
Double clicking the sash will toggle the tabs view width between the "ideal" size which displays all the titles without truncating and a
narrow view that shows only the icons.
The tabs can be moved to the left side using the terminal.integrated.tabs.location setting.
Various other configuration settings available under terminal.integrated.tabs.
Terminal Statuses
Along with tabs, we have introduced the concept of statuses to the
terminal. A terminal can have many statuses, each of which represents
a state the terminal can be in temporarily, with the highest severity
one being displayed next to the tab. Status icons appear to the right
of the terminal title in the tabs view. On hover, details of the
status and any associated actions are presented.
On a tab associated with a terminal that requires a relaunch, a
yellow triangle with an exclamation mark is to the right of the
terminal title.
For now, these states are supported:
Relaunch needed: A warning icon status is used if extensions want to change a terminal's environment.
Disconnected: A plug icon status is used when the terminal loses its connection with its process.
Bell: A bell icon appears when the bell is enabled via the terminal.integrated.enableBell setting and the terminal bell
triggers.
We plan to support task states soon so that task run status is
available at a glance even without activating the tab.
And more at the link. From the Insiders Build:
NO EXTENSION REQUIRED, as docs say:
Ctrl+Shift+5
If enough space, you can press it multiple times. However, as always, extensions might be more sophisticated for the job.
They are called "Terminal Tabs" and you can un-check them to turn them off. Go to your VS code setting User->Features->Terminal and look for the section called "Integrated > Tabs:Enabled" and un-check it.

There is an extension that does this by adding tabs to the status bar: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=Tyriar.terminal-tabs

Is there a shortcut for color chooser in NetBeans?

Is there a shortcut for color chooser in NetBeans?
I found this same query on NetBeans website, it was said that this was possible but I can't find an actual answer how to do it.
I mean this: when I am in a CSS file and I am editing a property that involves a color, the color chooser pops up automatically. I would like to have the color chooser pop up on demand when I am editing any file (e.g. a PHP file). It would be very helpful.
I already looked in Options -> Keymap and there seems to be no shortcut containing the word "color".
Thanks.
In the editor, click the text representing the color (you don't even have to highlight the whole thing), then hit Ctrl+Spacebar.
While it's not ideal in Netbeans 8.0.2 you can do the following:
open any CSS file that contains a rule with a property that takes colour as value and place the cursor inside the declaration block of that rule,
in the top menu click on Window -> Web -> CSS Styles,
click on the dropdown with colour values and scroll right to the top,
click on Choose Color and a colour chooser will appear.
You can now close the CSS file (if you like) and open any type of file - the CSS Styles window will stay and you can repeat the above procedure starting from step 3.
P.S. Netbeans has a bug tracker that is not just for reporting bugs:
Issues = Bugs, Feature Requests, and Enhancements
