Mail sending but not receiving on Plesk server

I am having some PLESK Mail receiving issues.
I just setup a dedicated server with 1and1. The server console is PLESK 12. I am using 1and1 nameserver which are pointed correctly from the domain registrars. I am able to send mail using webmail but not able to receive it.
When I do a mail server check it I get the following error:
Error connecting to mailserver: No route to host
If anyone is aware of some missing SMTP settings that need to be set up in the initial Plesk configuration it would be appreciated.

Zope ZEO and MailHost

I have a webpage running with a ZEO server and 2 Zope Servers, one of which is on a different machine from the ZEO server. Both machines have sendmail installed (I can send mails from the shell).
Now in the Zope MailHost object the SMTP Host is set to localhost. Sending mail is only working when the website is accessed on the same server as the ZEO server, otherwise there is an error:
SMTPRecipientsRefused'{'my#email.com':'554, 5.7.1 'my#email.com': Relay access denied')}
Is there a way to use localhost as SMTP for a MailHost object in Zope with ZEO? I would have guessed that the Zope MailHost uses sendmail from the same server as the Zope instance, but my guess was obviously wrong.
My workaround is currently to use the MailHost object with an external SMTP server.

Plesk, Email with localy established domain where the mail server is external

i have a big problem with the setup for an Domain.
The Webservices are established on our Server but the Mail functions are on a Server of an other Company when we now want send an Email over our Server he tried to send it localy insted of sending it to an other server so he give back an no account here error.
Thanks for helping me out and friendly greetings.
Edit: OS Debian 6
Imap: Courier
Send: Postfix
CP: Plesk
Further to this, we are using Plesk 11.5.3 on a setup where a single mail service is activated for all domains.
So each domain cannot have the mail service turned on or off individually.
We had the same problem as Franco, and we fixed this by running the following command for each domain that had external email:
# /usr/local/psa/bin/mail --off domain.com
Works perfectly, and removes any previously created local email addresses from Postfix.
"The problem is because the server will attempt to deliver emails for the domain name locally by default. To resolve that problem you would need to set it to use the domain name's MX record."
The simple answer is to disable mail services for the subscription.
Untick the box for "Activate mail service on domain".

SMTP Mail Failures to a certain domain

Do the SMTP logs on a server (Windows 2003) only show logs of mail that were sent successfully?
We are getting bounce backs when sending mail to a particular domain:
The connection was dropped by the remote host.
It looks like a problem on the receiving server, but we dont have much information to provide them. We can send to hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc OK.
Any ideas?
Most likely, there is a spam filter in front of the receiving mail server for this domain, and this spam filter thinks your mail server is sending spam, so it's closing the connection from your mail server. One way to test this is to simulate sending a message to this mail server by opening a command prompt on your mail server, and use telnet to connect to the receiving mail server on port 25, and proceed with the process of sending a message just as a mail server would. This way, you'll be able to see how the receiving mail server responds after each step. Follow the instructions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/153119 to see how this is done.
It turned out the sending server was blacklisted by McAfee, that was running on the receiving servers firewall.
For those that may have the problem in the future you can check if your server is blacklisted with McAfee here:
http://www.mcafee.com/threat-intelligence/ip/spam-senders.aspx
After entering your server IP, you should see a link Threat Feedback. Use this to email McAfee.
I was able to send McAfee an email with an explanation, they then removed our server from the blacklist.

How do I send mail from my ruby on rails application?

How do i send mail on my ubuntu system. I need to send mail in my ruby on rails application but can't test, because mail isn't being sent. What do i need to do on my system. (now testing this app is making me realize why mail wasn't being sent through that Evolution thing i have installed)
The Evolution thing is an MUA (Mail User Agent) like Outlook, Thunderbird, or any number of programs intended for user to read and create email messages. Your program is also a limited MUA (likely creation only).
You need to send your e-mail to an MTA (Mail Transfer Agent). If you configure the return address correctly, you may be able to use the same MTA that you connect to with Evolution. In this case the SMTP server used to send email. If you are using one of the e-mail libraries you should be able to specify the SMTP server name as well as a user-id and password if required.
Many packages require an MTA so you may have Postfix, Exim4, or Sendmail already installed. Check for programs listening on port 25. If so you can use localhost as your SMTP server. If you need to send email other systems you may need to configure your MTA as a satellite to your ISPs server which will relay your message out to the Internet.
