"Code" command not found in VS Code on Mac - visual-studio-code

I have just begun to code so everything is new to me. I have started using VS Code with Python 3.11 and macOS Monterey 12.6. However, very soon I discovered that when I enter the "code" command at the terminal command line, it comes back "command not found."
I have to go the command palette, uninstall the code command and then reinstall it for it to work. The problem with this is that it resets everytime I close VS Code so I have to go back and repeat the whole process of unstalling and reinstalling the code command. I have read some other posts on stackoverflow that seem to address this issue but my knowledge of programming is extremely rudimentary and I was unable to understand the answers provided. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Maybe this will work:
open vscode
press CMD + SHIFT + P
type "shell command: install 'code' in PATH"
type 'code .' in your project folder

VS Code Not Running Anything - No such file or directory

My VS Code
My VSCode for Mac won't run even simple Python commands. For more context my Python Terminal execute in file dir setting is turned on. I don't know what the problem is, the play button or right clicking and selecting run code also doesn't do anything.
I've already ensured I have the proper VSCode installed for Mac. Please help :(
try to edit your settings.json file like this :
"terminal.explorerKind": "external",
"terminal.integrated.defaultProfile.windows": "Command Prompt"

VS Code Terminal command extra first letter

In vs code terminal I'm getting first letter of command twice. it's not causing any problem but it's kind of annoys me to watch the wrong command. I'm not writing any letter twice, the first letter of all commands gets repeated automatically.
as you can see there are 2 commands first one ppython first p automatically got repeated even though i wrote python it makes it ppython. and the first p that got repeated won't delete from there even if i spam backspace so many time . the I tried to clear the command till first p and as I'm not able to remove first p from terminal I just wrote ython in front of it. it looks proper now python. but I got a error response as ython is not recognized command. this same happens with other commands too like cd converts to ccd.
Edit : I Re-installed vs code then but that didn't resolved my problem, when I installed it again all my extensions were there already installed then I deleted vs code again then went to the vs code's location there was a folder name .vscode I deleted that then installed vs code again now all the extensions were deleted from vs code but I'm still having the main problem . that doesn't resolved it. and I'm not getting that error while using other terminals like git bash and I'm getting this error only when I open python file's folder not when I open a react app folder or normal js or other language.
I also tried reseting the default setting from setting.json file as one of the answers suggested but that doesn't worked.
It's hard to answer this without knowing your configuration. What plugins have you installed? Try disabling those related to the terminal emulator one by one to see if they're causing any issues.
In doing this, you would naturally restart the terminal emulator as well. If the problem persists, check if you get this erroneous doubling on a terminal emulator outside of VS Code (Terminal or PowerShell).
If nothing works, try reinstalling the interpreter and also VS Code. Especially the latter, if this seems to affect only the terminal emulator within VS Code.
It's really hard to answer your question without knowing your vs code configuration setting.
The easiest way is you can reset your vs code to default
The Steps
Go to View > Command Palette or press Cmd + Shift + P (macOS) or Ctrl + Shift + P (Windows).
Search for open settings json and select Preferences: Open Settings (JSON) which show ups from the result list.
If you’ve been working with VS Code for a while and installed a lot of things and made a lot of changes, you’ll find there’s a lot of stuff in this file:
Delete everything inside the root braces and save the file
Relaunch your VS Code.
(This step is optional) In case you want to not only reset VS Code but also remove all installed extensions:
Delete the ~/.vscode/extensions folder if you’re on a Mac.
Delete the %USERPROFILE%.vscode\extensions folder if you’re using Windows.

VSCodium terminal error message => error layer=debugger can't find build-id note on binary?

I have VSCodium v1.64.2 and have this error message in my integrated terminal window upon "Run/Start Debugging" command:
2022-02-14T17:14:16-06:00 error layer=debugger can't find build-id note on binary
This error message appears on all my programs inside the terminal window. I'm learning Golang (GO) and am new to the VSCodium (VSCode community) editor. My program runs fine with no errors in my Ubuntu terminal window as well as the integrated terminal in VSCodium.
Is there something I can do to correct the error? It's not interfering with my work, but I was curious. Thanks.
According to the issue of go-delve / delve (
#latestas delve#1.8.2of 2022/02/13), this problem is not addressed, so
install delve manually instead of installing with VS Code extension etc
# Install at tree head:
$ go install github.com/go-delve/delve/cmd/dlv#master
or
$ git clone https://github.com/go-delve/delve
$ cd delve
$ go install github.com/go-delve/delve/cmd/dlv
According to https://github.com/go-delve/delve/pull/2893, which has been merged, it should now just be a warning. You likely pulled delve before the merge, though, so updating should fix this.

VSCode on Linux Mint, integrated terminal not able to type anything

Hi I'm running Linux Mint 19 and I have just installed vscode using the snapd package manager. I've not used vscode on linux before as my usual editor is emacs. However, on a fresh new install of vscode, the integrated terminal does not work, there is just a non blinking cursor in the top left of the screen, but no prompt and no keyboard strokes are registering. This appears to be a common problem as there are a lot of posts about it if googled, but they are all for Windows versions and none of the solutions that I'm able to try do anything. I've tried to open a new terminal window, but the same thing happens I just get two terminal windows that I now cannot use. I've also tried checking the box that says Code-runner: Run In Terminal, but that does nothing either. What can I do to get this to work please, I looks to me like it is just not connected to either a bash or Zsh(which I normally use). Any help on this would be appreciated.
Instead of starting vscode with its default shell script (usually located on /usr/share/code/bin/code), the integrated terminal only works for me when starting it directly from the compiled binary (typically found on /usr/share/code/code, which is the same as the launcher created by the installer:
/usr/share/code/code --no-sandbox --unity-launch %F
While I searched for a solution in the past I've also noticed that lots of folks solved similar problems just by adding --disable-gpu flag, so might be worth checking out as well.

Can't open VSCode from command-line WSL ZSH

So I decided to quit dual-boot and start using WSL. I'm having a problem and really can figure out how to fix it.
I simply can't open VSCode using the code command from the terminal when using an external terminal. When using the integrated, a command like "code ." works just fine.
Anyone knows how to fix it? It was working good a few steps of setup ago, but I lost track and don't exactly when that happened. I'm currently using HyperJS as terminal and my integrated terminal is already running zsh and it works when the VSCode is connected to WSL and when it isn't aswell.
Anyway, hoping for a fix, 'cause I'm really lost.
Thanks!
It's fixed and it was an easy fix, but it took long for me to realize that all I had to do was one step.
Here's the thing: the command "code" on the integrated terminal was working like a charm because the VSCode itself was running as administrator on Windows.
My Hyper wasn't running as administrator, so all I did was:
Right-click on HyperJS icon and go to the properties of the application
Switch to "Compatibility" tab
Check the "Run as administrator"
It's working without a problem now. Took me a while to realize that, but it's all good now.
