Rather then acting like a word document (for lack of a better way of putting it)
When I am using VS code, when I click into a new html document for example, it behaves as if I am I am typing in the termainal.
This used to happen to me when I would copy/paste something into the document.
I checked my shortcuts and could not see anything, thought it might be a problem with an exentsion or vs code itself. Uninstalled vs code and all my extensions and it did resolve the problem but it is back now, but as I said only occurs when I click into another file.

When writing JSX (or any typescript code really) if you have an available import that's not yet imported, you get a squiggly line under it and can press ctrl+dot on it and then automatically import the code as a "refactoring."
How can I set this up in Javascript? I've seen a screenshot of someone else's VSC where it is available underneath "more options" and so I'm pretty sure it's possible, but when I press ctrl+dot I get nothing.
Note: I'm aware I can press ctrl+space. However, I don't want to do this, for two reasons. (1) alt+space is pretty bad UX because if you press it in the middle of a word it continues to autocomplete even if you already had the full name there and so you are left with an incorrect tag (e.g. if your cursor was after the d in Keyboard for a component called KeyboardRow you are left with KeyboardRowRow) and (2) I want to rebind quick fix to alt+enter to match pycharm; and I want the same hotkey & UX in both Typescript and Javascript.
I haven't worked too much with JS, mainly with TS, but I have two extensions installed in my vscode that helped me a lot while coding in vanilla JS.

Is there a way to do so? I find a lot of my time is taken up correcting indentation formatting in VSCode after pasting, because it seems to sometimes take the source indenting and apply it at the destination (so the entire pasted code block is at the wrong indent level) or worse, just mess up indents entirely (no idea what's going on here) and I need to manually fix every line.
Example use case, for single PHP files which contain PHP, HTML, and Javascript, I often only want the pasted Javascript block to format nicely. Turning on "paste on format" will format the entire document, often times making the PHP sections awkwardly arranged.
I know that VSCode has "format on paste" in settings, but this formats the entire document. How can I format only the pasted code? Is this even possible?

I am not certain whether you're fine with this roundabout solution, but you can format selection with Ctrl+K Ctrl+F (see official vscode site for more detail). So rather than turning on format on paste you can paste and then reselect it and do the shortcut above.
If you're not satisfied with this method, you can try using a vscode extension that was given here under a somewhat similar copy and paste problem
Something has happened to the settings (I think) so that whenever I try to type into the editor a search panel opens when the 5th character is typed, so I can't actually write any code. I have tried disabling various extensions, to no avail, and anyway, I haven't actually installed any new ones today. I have altered a few keyboard shortcuts, but don't know how to reset everything to default. I may have to uninstall the entire app and reinstall it, but would like to avoid this if possible

Does VS Code (I currently use v1.8.1) has any shortcut like ctrl+q in eclipse?
It returns your cursor to the place where you stopped writing code(very useful for fast code browsing)
and it is different to alt+left which navigate backward

Out of the box in VS Code, this command does not exist. The list of default shortcuts can be found here, or you can open the keybindings settings in VS Code (ctrl+k, ctrl+s on Windows) and see which commands are available.
If you'd like to suggest this as a feature, you can open a new issue on GitHub or consider creating an extension.
If I understand correctly, you want a command that will move the cursor to where the last edit in a document was made.
This should be possible using an extension that listens to document change events and records the position of the cursor. Then, when the command is issued, it sets the editors cursor to that saved position.
You can also try "Eclipse Keymap" from Alphabot Security, has a lot of eclipse bindings.
I don't believe there is a built-in way to do this, but you could work around it by using an extension such as https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=alefragnani.Bookmarks .
I'm using FlashDevelop 4.6.1.30 in Windows, using it with HaxeFlixel.
The autocomplete suggestions appear when editing code - this is wanted, it is good.
They also appear when editing text files though - this is not wanted, it is not good.
Specifically, if I create a new text file in flash develop (so the file is called "readme.txt" or something), after typing a few words, FD tries to "guess" what I'm typing and pops up the suggestions list. This, of course, makes no sense when trying to type out things that aren't code.
Yes, I've seen this Flashdevelop - Disable autocomplete for txt files and no, it doesn't work - even after a restart.

Can confirm, setting that option doesn't prevent completion in .txt files. Consider opening an issue on the FlashDevelop repository.
Looks like a bug.
For now you can simply disable the BasicCompletion plugin (check Disable and restart FlashDevelop).
