I have created a AVFoundation Camera,now i want to change toolbar item image to my custom image , when user tap record camera button than image will change.
I have done that change but problem is that my image display black and white no color.soplz help on this.
My code is:
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[[self recordButton] setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"camara30.png"]] //first time setting image
}
- (void)captureManagerRecordingBegan:(AVCamCaptureManager *)captureManager
{
CFRunLoopPerformBlock(CFRunLoopGetMain(), kCFRunLoopCommonModes, ^(void) {
// [[self recordButton] setTintColor:[UIColor redColor]];
[[self recordButton] setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"record30.png"]]; //changing image when record begun
[[self recordButton] setEnabled:YES];
});
}
- (void)captureManagerRecordingFinished:(AVCamCaptureManager *)captureManager
{
CFRunLoopPerformBlock(CFRunLoopGetMain(), kCFRunLoopCommonModes, ^(void) {
[[self recordButton] setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"camara30.png"]]; //changing image when record end
[[self recordButton] setEnabled:YES];
});
}
My first screen before start recording:
My second screen after end recording:
UIBarButtonItem *temp = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemFlexibleSpace target:nil action:nil];
UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[button setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"BlueMarbleDrop"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
button.frame=CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 60.0, 30.0);
[button addTarget:self action:nil forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem* stopBtn = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button];
[self.toolBar setItems:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:temp,stopBtn,temp, nil]];
the output look like
i took this from UIBarButtonItem with color?
Try to set image
[[self recordButton] setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"record30.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];

I'm using QLPreviewController for showing a pdf. I want to change the background images for UINavigationBar and UIBarButtonItems of QLPreviewController.
I'm using this code:
for (id object in controller.childViewControllers)
{
if ([object isKindOfClass:[UINavigationController class]])
{
UINavigationController *navController = object;
[navController.navigationBar setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"navbar_1x.png"] forBarMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
NSLog(#"items count ====%d",[[navController.navigationBar items] count]);
if ([[navController.navigationBar items] count] > 0)
{
UINavigationItem *navItem = [[navController.navigationBar items] objectAtIndex:0];
navItem.rightBarButtonItem.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"pdf30.png"];
}
}
}
By using above code I changed background image of navigationbar. But I can't changing background images for barbuttonitems.
Please help me. Thanks in advance.....
If you want you can customize the bar button.. try like this..
UIButton *backButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[backButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"pdf30.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton addTarget:self action:#selector(didTapBackButton:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
backButton.frame = CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 64.0f, 41.0f);
UIBarButtonItem *backButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:backButton];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = backButtonItem;
}
UIImage*resizedImage = [[UIImage imageNamed:#"navbar_2x.png"] resizableImageWithCapInsets:UIEdgeInsetsMake(10, 12, 12, 10)];
id navbar =[UINavigationBar appearance];
id barbutton =[UIBarButtonItem appearance];
//this customises the navigation bar
[navbar setBackgroundImage:resizedImage forBarMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
UIImage *backButton = [[UIImage imageNamed:#"backwhite.png"] resizableImageWithCapInsets:UIEdgeInsetsMake(10 , 18, 10 , 18)];
// this customises the back bar button item in the navigation bar
[barbutton setBackButtonBackgroundImage:backButton forState:UIControlStateNormal barMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
// this for other bar button items
[barbutton setBackgroundImage:backButton forState:UIControlStateNormal barMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
I am setting Back and next Button as Navigation Bar item left button and right button.which have code below as
// Back Button
UIBarButtonItem *aBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:aButton];
[aButton addTarget:self action:#selector(navigatehome)forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = aBarButtonItem;
//Next Button
aBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:aButton];
[aButton addTarget:self action:#selector(navigatenext)forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[self.navigationItem setRightBarButtonItem:aBarButtonItem]
And Problem when animated:YES in statement
CSA_info *h1=[[CSA_info alloc]init];
[self.navigationController pushViewController:h1 animated:YES];
It shows as below image
If uses animated:No then showed as below
I am adding a image in as subview in navigation Bar so it hides the buttons.
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"title bar.png"];
UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image];
imageView.frame = CGRectMake(-5, 0, 330, 44);
[self.navigationController.navigationBar insertSubview:imageView atIndex:2];
I required to add that image in navigation.
Why it so, Any Help ?
you need to put title bar image in secondViewcontroller like bellow in ViewDidLoad
UIImage* imageback = [UIImage imageNamed:#"Back_Button.png"];
CGRect frameimgback = CGRectMake(0, 0, 50, 30);
backButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:frameimgback];
[backButton setBackgroundImage:imageback forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton addTarget:self action:#selector(Back)
forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"titileBar.png"];
[self.navigationController.navigationBar setBackgroundImage:image forBarMetrics:UIBarMetricsDefault];
UIBarButtonItem *btn = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc]initWithCustomView:backButton];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = btn;
If I understood you problem properly then following solution should work,
You need to add the code in viewDidLoad method of the view controller. Please refer the below code
UIButton *backButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:kButtonFrame];
[backButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:kBackButtonImage] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton addTarget:self action:#selector(navigatehome)forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *aBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:backButton];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = aBarButtonItem;
UIButton *nextButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:kButtonFrame];
[nextButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:kNextButtonImage] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[nextButton addTarget:self action:#selector(navigatenext)forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *aBarButtonItemRight = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:nextButton];
[self.navigationItem setRightBarButtonItem:aBarButtonItemRight];
This should work fine even you animated while pushing the view controller.
When you tap on a UIBarButtonItem in a UIToolbar, there is a white glow effect.
Is there a possibility to fire an event to show this effect?
I don't want to press the button. Only the effect should be displayed. I want to visualize to the user, that there is new content behind this button.
Thanks for your help!
Heres the "highlight.png", I'm not kidding! (Though you may not seeing it on a white background.)
The following method assumes you are using the toolbarItems property of a navigation controller and that the button you want to highlight is the last item in that array. You can apply it to any toolbar, of course, and pick a different array index if necessary.
Right now this is not exactly perfect, because the animation moves the new button from the lower left of the screen. However, I think that can be turned off with a little effort.
Note that I used PeakJi's image.
I hope this works for you.
Enjoy,
Damien
- (void)highlightButton {
NSArray *originalFooterItems = self.toolbarItems;
NSMutableArray *footerItems = [originalFooterItems mutableCopy];
[footerItems removeLastObject];
NSString* pathToImageFile = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"white_glow" ofType:#"png"];
UIImage* anImage = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:pathToImageFile];
UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:anImage];
imageView.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 40, 40);
UIBarButtonItem *flashImage = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:imageView];
[footerItems addObject:flashImage];
[UIView animateWithDuration:0.3
delay: 0.0
options: UIViewAnimationOptionCurveEaseOut
animations:^{
self.toolbarItems = footerItems; }
completion:^(BOOL finished){
[UIView animateWithDuration:.3
delay: 0.0
options:UIViewAnimationOptionCurveEaseIn
animations:^{
self.toolbarItems = originalFooterItems;
}
completion:nil];
}];
}
For Bar items
[(UIButton *)[[toolbarItems objectAtIndex:1] customView] setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"highlight.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
In General - Assuming you have a button
UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect];
[button addTarget:self
action:#selector(someFunction:)
forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchDown];
[button setTitle:#"Click here" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
button.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 100.0, 40.0);
[self.view addSubview:button];
you can at any given point, programmatically call this function:
[button setTitle:#"Look Here" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
or if you like to have an highlight image
btnImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"highlight.png"];
[button setImage:btnImage forState:UIControlStateNormal];
A very simple alternative:
That said , you can also set the button like this:
- (void)highlightButton:(UIButton *)button {
[button setHighlighted:YES];
}
You can try to recreate a new bar button item with different style, and then reassign it back. My experiment was:
In viewDidLoad:
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
UIBarButtonItem *rightBtn = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:#"Custom"
style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain
target:self
action:nil];
self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightBtn;
[rightBtn release];
[self performSelector:#selector(highlight)
withObject:nil
afterDelay:2.0];
}
And in method highlight:
- (void) highlight{
UIBarButtonItem *rightBtn = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithTitle:#"Custom"
style:UIBarButtonItemStyleDone
target:self
action:nil];
self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = rightBtn;
[rightBtn release];
}
Your implementation might be different than mine, but as long as you are fine with reassigning the bar button, I think it'll work as expected. Good luck :)
If you have a category:
#define HIGHLIGHT_TIME 0.5f
#interface UIButton (Highlight)
- (void)highlight;
#end
#implementation UIButton (Highlight)
- (void)highlight {
UIButton *overlayButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
overlayButton.frame = self.frame;
overlayButton.showsTouchWhenHighlighted = YES;
[self.superview addSubview:overlayButton];
overlayButton.highlighted = YES;
[self performSelector:#selector(hideOverlayButton:) withObject:overlayButton afterDelay:HIGHLIGHT_TIME];
}
- (void)hideOverlayButton:(UIButton *)overlayButton {
overlayButton.highlighted = NO;
[overlayButton removeFromSuperview];
}
#end
Then you need code like this…
UIBarButtonItem *addButton = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemAdd target:self action:#selector(insertNewObject:)] autorelease];
self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = addButton;
[self.navigationController.navigationBar.subviews.lastObject performSelector:#selector(highlight) withObject:nil afterDelay:2];
…to highlight the button in the navigation bar after 2 seconds.
A simple ay is to init your UIBarButtonItem with a CustomView (UIBUtton)
UIButton *favButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[favButton setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 100.0, 50.0, 30.0)];
[favButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"bouton_black_normal.png"]
forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[favButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"bouton_black_hightlight.png"]
forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[favButton setTitle:#"Add" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[favButton setTitle:#"Add" forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[favButton setTitleColor:[UIColor whiteColor] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[favButton setTitleColor:[UIColor whiteColor] forState:UIControlStateHighlighted];
[[favButton titleLabel] setFont:[UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:13]];
[favButton addTarget:self action:#selector(doSomething)
forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *button = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:favButton];
I have a UIBarButtonItem with a custom view of a UIbutton with an image, I want to have a different UIImage for different orientation, so here's my code:
UIButton * backButton = (UIButton *) ((UIBarButtonItem *) self.navBar_.topItem.leftBarButtonItem).customView;
if (UIInterfaceOrientationIsLandscape([[UIApplication sharedApplication] statusBarOrientation]) && IS_IPAD) {
[backButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"back-landscape.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton setFrame: CGRectMake(0, 0, 46, 35)];
} else {
[backButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"back-reading.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton setFrame: CGRectMake(0, 0, 23, 19)];
}
However this doesn't change the UIButton image, why is this?
Try this:-
UIButton * backButton ;
if (UIInterfaceOrientationIsLandscape([[UIApplication sharedApplication] statusBarOrientation]) && IS_IPAD)
{
backButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 66.0f, 36.0f)];
[backButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"back-landscape.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
}
else
{
backButton = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f, 23, 19)];
[backButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"back-reading.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[backButton setFrame: CGRectMake(0, 0, 23, 19)];
}
[backButton addTarget:self action:#selector(goToHome) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem *HomeButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView: backButton];
[self.navigationItem setLeftBarButtonItem:HomeButton];
You should notify that you say it is a UIBarButtonItem , but you use UIButton in code.
From ios5.0, you can use UIAppearence Protocol to change UIBarButtonItem background image, like:
[[UIBarButtonItem appearance] setBackgroundImage: forState: barMetrics:]
You can also use elppa's method, but notice you can directly use UIImageView for the customView parameter.
You could use the new proxy class with +appereance method check the DOC, but is only for iOS5. For earlier support you can update the image while the view is rotating the view controller method -willRotateToInterfaceOrientation.
Ciao
Create a UIBarButton using a custom UIButton:
_optionsButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[_optionsButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"menu2.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[_optionsButton addTarget:self action:#selector(optionsButtonPressed) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIBarButtonItem * optionsItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:_optionsButton];
Then set a background image as you would normally for that UIButton (instead of trying to change the image for the UIBarButton).
[_optionsButton setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"keyboard.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
This worked great for me
Note: When I was going through this I was changing the picture depending on what the current picture was. I found I had to use:
if ([[_optionsButton imageForState:UIControlStateNormal] isEqual:[UIImage imageNamed: #"keyboard.png"]]) {
// Code for the certain button function
}
to get it to work
I am adding image in BackBarButtonItem of navigation bar, image gets in button but image is not scale to fill what would be the issue.
Here is the code i am using and it displays in following way.
UIImage *backImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"back.png"];
UIBarButtonItem *newBackButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithImage:backImage style:UIBarButtonItemStylePlain target:self action:#selector(backAction)];
[self.navigationItem setBackBarButtonItem: newBackButton];
[newBackButton release];
[backImage release];
Actually it should look like, below image.
Thanks!
[self.navigationItem setHidesBackButton:YES];
[self.navigationItem setLeftBarButtonItem:newBackButton];
Try this :)!
problem is your image size.check it!
You can also use
//custom back button
button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[button setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"back.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[button addTarget:self action:#selector(backButtonClicked) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[button setFrame:CGRectMake(-2, 0, 52, 30)];
UIBarButtonItem *btnItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:button];
self.navigationItem.leftBarButtonItem = btnItem;
[btnItem release];
}
