Establishing DB2 ODBC connection - db2

I am trying to establish a DB2 ODBC connection from my system. I installed the DB2 driver from IBM and i tried creating a system DSN. I got the following options:
Data Source Name, Database Alias (Empty Drop down along with a Add button), Description.
I do not know where to enter the IP of the server and the database name.
When i click on the Add button, I get the textboxes to enter the UserID and Password. I tried entering them and a system DSN was created. I clicked on the DSN that was created and selected Configure button, to test the connection. It asked me to enter the password. When i entered the password and clicked on Connect button, I get a message stating that SQL1013N The Database alias name or database name "" cannot be found. SQLSTATE = 42705
I am not supposed to install DB2 on my machine.
Please help me in resolving this.

Follow below steps, you will be successful in creating DSN.
1. Give DSN name in Data Source Name File (Name can be any user name eg: DSN_TEST)
2. Click in Add button
3. A new window is opened which has tabs
4. on first tab give user name and password
5. Second tab: Give database name, alias name (Preferebally give both with same name)
Host field give IP address of database server and finally Port field give port number
6. click on ok
7. Go to system DSN now double on create DSN and test connection.
8. Now your DSN got created.
Let me know if you still face any issue

Please catalog your DB2 database [DB2 catalog]
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEPGG_9.7.0/com.ibm.db2.luw.admin.cmd.doc/doc/r0001936.html and then create DSN using newly added alias. Should work.

I had the same issue but fortunately stumbled upon this link which helped in detail

PostgreSQL with DBeaver, password?

I am a student. I've created a Rails/React project using PostgreSQL. I downloaded DBeaver so that I can view my database but cannot get DBeaver to connect, and have spent a couple of hours trying to solve this.
I attempt to set up DBeaver for PostgreSQL, click "New Connection," leave all defaults set and click "Finish" when I'm met with the following error:
The server requested password-based authentication, but no password was provided.
I am pretty certain that I never entered a password for this database. I saw it suggested that the default password is "postgres" but I tried that with no success. In terminal when I run "psql --list" I can see my DB's name and I can see that I am the owner.
I am running a Debian distro, if that makes any difference. I installed DBrowser through Synaptic. I'd appreciate any assistance.

Databases in psql Don't Show up in PgAdmin4

I installed Postgres
and followed the instruction. I create a database and logged in by the master password but I don't find the database even the + mark is not shown in the servers. can anyone help, please?
Unlike in pgAdmin3, with pgAdmin4,here you have to manually connect to a running postgres server andyou already have your specific database (DB) created.
So to set the stage, make sure you have the postgres server is running, and that you have created that DB already too.
Notice (in the image) that I CREATE database XYZ and GRANT all privileges to default user postgres. (Note; to work properly with pgAdmin4, you have to create a user called postgres in order to be able to connect with and log in to pgAdmin4.)
Then here are some quick steps to follow:
When within pgAdmin4, right-click the Servers option and select create.
Note:
In the image you'll see (1) next to "Servers" because I have done this process already. Kindly ignore that).
Select "server group" if you have many servers that you want to better manage. For most basic use cases, go ahead and select "server" (like I did).
For either option you select above, you'll get a pop-box to complete the "connection process". I selected "server" which is appropriate for your use case (see image below).
Note:
"name" field is required
As you can see already, enter a name (I went with "postgres" since it's what I was used to by default in pgAdmin3, but you can enter any name).
Notice the "connect now" checkbox is checked by default so as soon as the process is successful, your DB should display in the sidemenu. (This is a key to confirm that you entered the right info). But you can always uncheck this, to connect later.
Now, click connection tab and you see the image below.
The key fields to fill here, to keep it simple, are host name/address and password. Remember to save after entering your info.
Note:
If on connecting to local machine, localhost or http://127.0.0.1 should do. (I did "localhost")
If connecting to a DB instance in the cloud e.g. AWS, enter the endpoint in the host space. Here's more from AWS
A lot of the other fields have the default settings used when installing postgres and pgAdmin.
If you followed the steps above properly, then you should see something like this after you save.
Here's a good guide from the pgAdmin documentation
In case you created your database as template CREATE DATABASE ... IS_TEMPLATE =true, then the database is considered as "system object" and is not shown in the list if PgAdmin4 option "Show system objects?" is set to false.
Try menu File -> Preferences, in the tree find Browser -> Display, and the option is at the bottom.
Another option is to remove the template option:
ALTER DATABASE xxx IS_TEMPLATE = false
and then you will see your database without changing PgAdmin preferences.
I followed the introductory advice from #MwamiTovi but I still did not have an option to create a server as he noted. However, I was able to get my databases to appear by clicking menu option Object -> Register -> Server and type in the information (hostname/address, port) from my associated psql setup.
This was using PG Admin 4.19 on macOS Big Sur.

How to connect MongoDB Compass using MLab connection string

I have database hosted on MLab and I am trying to connect it with Compass. I am using host and port given in connection string but it is showing error, here is my screenshot:
What am I doing wrong?
Had same problem manage to solve it like this:
A. Go to your db in mlab and in the tab choose "users"
B. Create a new user ex: username: admin password: 123456
C: Go to compass and fill it this way
Example of your connection path
ds012345.mlab.com:56789/myDBname
hostname
ds012345.mlab.com
port
56789
authentication: username /password
admin // or the name of the user you created in step A
123456 // or password for the user you created in step A
authentication database
myDBname // the name of your database in mlab
I just had the same problem.
I fixed it by updating my version of MongoDB Compass. No problems encountered with version 1.15.4.
Also, Authentication Database should not have the value "admin" but the name of the DB to connect you.
To make your connection easier, don't hesitate to copy your entire connection string into the clipboard. Compass detects it and proposes to automatically fill in the connection form.
The problem that I had was the Authentication Database Compass filled in automatically wasn't correct for my setup. By default, this was pointing to admin but it needs to point to the database that the user is associated with.
Summed up: The database of admin didn't exist.
Just to rule it out, double check what database you're pointing to. It should be in the name, like ds739176/database_name where database_name is, you guessed it, the name of your database.
Hope this helps.
The required credentials are not your login credentials to MLab,
instead these are database user credentials.
How to get them:
click on your DB on MLab.
go to users tab and create new user.
use the created users credentials to access db.
set authenticationdatabase to be your database.
I had the same problem. MongoDB url was working in code but Authentication failed was showing in MongoDB Compass.
When I checked, my mongodb password was iam%40me1234.
Here I'm using %40 HTML hex code in the password for # character.
So, If we will use the original character in the password like iam#me1234 in MongoDB Compass then it will work great.
Here is a full list of Hex codes
What I did:
Click on "Fill in connection fields individually" option in Compass.
Enter the hostname (Example ds051234.mlab.com)
Enter PORT (Example 12345)
Select Username/password in the Authentication option.
Enter username and password (Create a new user in mlab.com for your database)
Authentication Database (Just enter the "database name" in this field. Example: heroku_8967jgy5)
I hope this will help you.

Unable to create connection in Oracle SQL developer . IO error

I cannot add a connection in oracle SQL developer installed.
The error I am getting is:
IO Error :The network adapter could not establish connection.
Also can anyone help me as to what user name and password it is asking?
Is there anything else I need to install.
SQL Developer is a tool which enables you to connect to the database - let's presume an Oracle one. Did you install it? If not, is there any available on the network? If not, you'll have to do that first (i.e. install a database - 11g Express Edition might be your choice, download it here), and then let SQL Developer connect to it.
As of username and password you'd use: database owner is SYS, but - you shouldn't use it for coding training - you'd rather create a new user, or unlock one of pre-installed; unless I'm wrong, 11gXE contains the HR schema (Human Resources). In order to unlock it, establish a connection to the previously mentioned SYS user (remember which password you choose for it during the installation process) and choose the SYSDBA role. Then unlock the HR user and modify its password by issuing the following statements:
alter user hr account unlock;
alter user hr identified by hr;
Now create a new connection to HR user (this time choose the "default" role); you should be able to see its tables, run queries, etc.
Make sure your oracle database is up and running.. if you are using docker you need to restart the oracle docker image in this case.
I had similar issue then i tried to restart the oracle using
docker-compose -f docker-image-oracle.yml -d up (in this case you might have a diff name).
or you can start docker image directly from cmd .
Make sure that your hostname, listener port, sid/service name, username/password are correct.
You can use lsnrctl status to get the port number.
There are four things that come to my mind:
Is your Oracle Database installed and running? If not, install it and make sure it works.
Have you entered the correct username and password? Have you entered the correct hostname and/ or port number? If hostname and port number are wrong, check the listener.ora file (if you have the permission). Alternatively, you can look into the tnsnames.ora file.
Maybe your listener is not working after all. With the command "C:> lsnrctl status" (on cmd), you can check, if the listener works. If it doesn't, run the command "C:> lsnrctl start".
Are you using the right URL?

Remote Database Connection Setup in Netbeans

I'm totally junior in this area :)
I have JAVA version 7 on my PC.
I want to connect my PostgreSQL database to NetBeans.
Based on my search I found that I should get JDBC driver. so I downloaded JDBC41 Postgresql Driver, Version 9.3-1100 jar files from here.
then based on what I found for connection remote Mysql, did similar changes to connect to my PostgreSQL database.
As you can see in the image, connection couldn't established.
Based on what my host says, I added my IP address to "Remote PostgreSQL Database Access" page of my host.
I'm not sure my host name is correct. I used Dedicated IP Address of my site.
Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks
My fault was entering wrong user name and pass instead of using user name and password of database :(
