Network connection working but outgoing server not under Libre Office - 4.4.7.2 version. Any help with this?
LibreOffice could not connect to the outgoing mail server. Check your system's settings and the settings in LibreOffice. Check the server name, the port and the secure connections settings

Tick SSL but use Port 587 would normally be for tls
Allow access for less safe apps in your gmail security settings
Worked for my account although I wonder how safe it is to allow "less secure apps"
Since 2013, LibreOffice Writer has a known bug regarding the mail merge wizard: Sending merged mails using a SSL connection to the SMTP server will fail.
There’s a workaround (thanks to Andrea Tessadri) – one has to edit the python script responsible for sending the mails. It’s called mailmerge.py, and you’ll find it (on a linux box) under /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/, and on a windox box, it's located in C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice 4\program (see the last line of the error message).
To make sending mails using SSL work, make sure that no LO process is running (check quickstart!). Now, open /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/mailmerge.py (on Linux: with root privileges), search for the line
self.server = smtplib.SMTP(server, port,timeout=tout)
and replace it by
self.server = smtplib.SMTP_SSL(server, port,timeout=tout)
Now, when sending merged documents via mail, don’t enable SSL in the mail settings; just set the port to 465. Now, sending merged documents as mail should work.

We have a software program that at certain state needs to open external word file from server (http not https)
on office 2013 a warning message occur but after adding the website to trusted locations on the word options the warning message stopped and it works fine
when trying office 365 the word program just launches but without opening the file and without any error messages
when i tried to pass the same file link to word program via windows Command prompt instead it gives me "can not locate the internet server or proxy server" message
i tried enabling (Allow trusted locations on my network) option and adding the website to the trusted locations
i tried also adding ForceShellExecute registry value as explained in the following answer, but it failed also
https://superuser.com/questions/1375679/microsoft-word-unable-to-open-https-link-within-document
working environment is windows 10 x64 and office 365 - 32 bit
So I've been getting this error using Thunderbird with my Gmail account when trying to send emails:
Thunderbird: Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. You can retry or save the message locally to Local Folders/Sent-
This is actually happening with all my Mail accounts and not just Thunderbird...
Things I have tried:
I changed the connection security on server settings from STARTTLS to SSL/TLS.
I tried changing THUNDERBIRD preferences editor security.tls.version.min from 3 to 1
Both didn't seem to work for me. Anyone have the same problem and found a solution to this?
Help menu -> turn troubleshoot mode on
this will disable all your addons and restart thunderbird in troubleshoot mode on.
This solved my problem.
go to settings /passwords/ note both SMTP and IMAP passwords , delete the registered passwords, restart Thunderbird enter the password again IMAP, then create a message Send it , it will prompt for SMTP password, enter it. That's it, it worked for me
I just reconfigured "Copies & Folders"
When sending messages, automatically:
Place a copy in:
(and selected "Sent" Folder on:)
Previously "Other" was selected (and worked just fine...)
This happened from one day to the other, with no update from Thunderbird... this is very very strange!
So, I have a phpBB forum on CentOS 6, however there is a problem. E-mails are simply not working.
I tried using e-mails on domain such as admin#domain.com, and I would get this error:
E-mail error
» EMAIL/PHP/mail()
/adm/index.php
so I trued using SMTP with different SMTP hosts and settings, nothing has worked, I would simply get this error:
E-mail error
» EMAIL/SMTP
/adm/index.php

I got the errors from PHP Error Log from PHP
Oddly enough, the e-mails appear on my VPS in var/spool/mail/root file.
2 people have told be that this may be a DNS issue, I suspect this being true, as I, for some reason, couldn't use "wget" on my VPS, so I set Nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf and suddenly another problem I was experiencing, "could not get latest phpBB version" or something like that, was fixed. So, if that was fixed with such a solution, I would assume this would have something to do with it too.
And, I asked my host about it, they said "everything is virtualized" and how they have no actual control over it (in a sense that it is their configuration's fault) and how they do not support 3rd party software, even though this is not a software issue. And prior to that they said that they talked to "level 3 Linux admin" and how the admin said it is PHP/Apache issue.
I am losing my mind over this. It is a good machine for a good price with a game panel as we are hosting a game server, and it would really be a bother to move it all elsewhere.
Also, full talk and information on phpBB forums can be found here:

Check your SMTP settings, make sure its set to the correct client (both on your DNS and within phpbb in General-Client Communication-Email Settings). If you have to use an authenticated account, verify that the username and password you are using is correct by typing it into a word doc to see spelling and copy/pasting it into the fields. In some cases, SMTP will only work with authenticated accounts.
I'm a new emacs user, and I'm trying to get gnus working with mi gmail account with Aquamacs.
So far, I've been able to set it up to receive my mail. The problem is when I try to send an e-mail. I get this error:
No Gnus is good news
No more unread newsgroups
Mark set
Sending...
Sending via mail...
No STARTTLS program was available (tried 'gnutls-cli')
ad-Orig-error: Sending failed; SMTP protocol error
I understand that 'gnutls-cli' is necessary, and that it is not included in Aquamacs. I've found this guide to install it http://www.gnu.org/s/gnutls/manual/gnutls.html, but I'm not sure how I have to proceed, since I'm using MacOs and not Linux (although both are UNIX OS)
My question is: what do I exactly have to do to be able to send emails?
You could install opensll and configure Gnus to use it instead of
gnus-tls.
From the Gnus Manual:
`nntp-open-ssl-stream'
Opens a connection to a server over a "secure" channel. To use
this you must have OpenSSL (http://www.openssl.org) or SSLeay
(ftp://ftp.psy.uq.oz.au/pub/Crypto/SSL) installed. You then
define a server as follows:
;; "snews" is port 563 and is predefined in our `/etc/services'
;; however, `openssl s_client -port' doesn't like named ports.
;;
(nntp "snews.bar.com"
(nntp-open-connection-function nntp-open-ssl-stream)
(nntp-port-number 563)
(nntp-address "snews.bar.com"))
I am having issues sending mail from my server, when I type in phpinfo() I get this:
Mail: /var/spool/mail/frank
...
_ENV["MAIL"]: /var/spool/mail/frank
The php file that I'm using the Mail function in is owned by Apache and has 775 permissions. Inside /var/spool/mail there is no apache file, but there is a file for every other user on the box. Do I need to change the php.ini? Or can I add in an apache file (perhaps duplicate the frank file and then rename)?
Any advice can help!
/var/spool/mail is where incoming unread mail is stored. There would be an 'apache' file only if the apache account has received mail.
Have you looked inside the MTA's log (usually /var/log/maillog) to see what's going on? If PHP's properly sending mail, there should be an entry in there for the mail being en-queued and what happened when the MTA (postfix/sendmail/exim/etc...) tries to forward it onwards.
